2023.06.02 17:35 RTRvera The Tales Of The Brotherhood

The city of Caligo, capital of the magical kingdom Luminis Obscurum, sat nestled at the heart of a labyrinthine mountain range. Its ominous silhouette sprawled in every direction, its myriad structures draped in dark violet hues, gleaming under the eerie light of a moon perpetually shrouded by a veil of foreboding crimson clouds. The city was surrounded by an intricate lacework of floating islands, shrouded in perpetual twilight, held aloft by a blend of mystical forces and practical alchemy. Like a thousand demon eyes, the lights of Caligo blinked and twinkled in the perpetual night.
At the center of the city rose the Coliseum Arcanum, a gargantuan amphitheater that dominated the skyline. Its impossibly tall spires pierced the heavens, each adorned with statues and banners that howled in the ceaseless wind. Built from dark obsidian stone that seemed to drink in the light, the coliseum was the heart of the city, pulsating with the rhythm of the wild and brutal contests it hosted.
The air was thick with anticipation as the annual Grand Arcana Tournament was about to begin. Warriors from every corner of the kingdom and beyond had gathered to partake in a ruthless test of strength, endurance, and arcane mastery. The stakes were high, for the winner would be granted one wish — any request within the realm of possibility, as promised by the arcane potentates who ruled Luminis Obscurum.
And so, five extraordinary individuals found themselves on the cusp of the city, overlooking the sprawling urban expanse. The depth of their bond was reflected in the aura of resilience they radiated, a testament to the hardships they had weathered together.
Askari, the warrior monk, was the group's spiritual compass, guiding them through their trials with an unwavering determination reminiscent of his celestial forebear, Sun Wukong. His build was sinewy, every muscle carved from a lifetime of discipline and dedication. He carried the Ruyi Jingu Bang, an unyielding staff as flexible in combat as the very air, a symbol of his birthright and testament to his strength.
Skyblitz, an Aarakocra of intimidating stature, stood beside him. His feathers were as sharp as razors, their metallic sheen reflecting the enigmatic moonlight. He was a master of the turbulent winds, manipulating the very air around him into deadly weapons or sturdy shields. His eyes held a hint of wisdom that belied his avian wildness.
Next stood Redroot, the Goliath, towering over his companions. His skin bore the weathered marks of the mountain he hailed from, and the deep, unyielding roots that had fostered him. His magic was as much a part of him as the very rock he could command — sturdy, unwavering, and titanic in its ferocity.
Joneson, the Oathbreaker, was a stark contrast to the rest. A former Paladin who had turned his back on his sacred vows, he was a mystery, even to his closest friends. The void he mastered was as perplexing and enigmatic as the man himself. His aura was dark, pulsating with an energy that sent shivers down the spines of even the bravest.
Lastly, there was IraTater, the Poison Dragonborn, a creature of mischief and mayhem. His scales shimmered an iridescent green under the glow of the distant city, a signal of the deadly toxin that coursed through his veins. His crooked grin revealed rows of sharp teeth, a sign of his nonchalant attitude towards the world and its troubles.
Their gazes were collectively locked on the imposing structure at the heart of the city, an ominous sense of destiny pervading their silence.
"Y'all ready for this?" IraTater broke the silence, a playful grin spreading across his face.
Skyblitz responded with a solemn nod, his avian eyes reflecting a hardened resolve. "It's why we're here, isn't it?" His voice was calm, a lull in the storm.
Redroot's massive hand came to rest on the Aarakocra's shoulder, his deep voice rumbling like a landslide. "We face this together. As always."
Askari turned towards Joneson, his eyes searching the Paladin's shrouded countenance. "What of you, Joneson? Are you prepared to stand with us once again?"
The Oathbreaker turned his gaze away from the city, looking into the eyes of his comrades. His eyes held a profound sadness, but beneath it lay a flicker of defiance. "The void in my past may never be filled. But today, I fight for you, my brothers. For us."
A shared grin spread among them, and they extended their hands into a joint fist bump, their pact reaffirmed. They had faced challenges before, but the battles that lay ahead were unlike any they had experienced. The stakes were high, the odds were daunting, but the strength of their bond held firm.
As the first rays of false dawn cast their ethereal light on the city of Caligo, the friends stepped onto the path leading into the heart of Luminis Obscurum, their hearts aflame with determination and camaraderie. The Grand Arcana Tournament awaited, and the fate of five friends was about to intertwine with the destiny of an entire kingdom.
Having traversed the twisted maze of Caligo's cobblestone streets, the friends found themselves at the foot of the Coliseum Arcanum. Up close, its enormity was almost incomprehensible, the structure dwarfing everything around it.
The surrounding area was a riotous carnival, alive with an intoxicating mix of excitement and dread. Vibrant market stalls, whimsical parades, and arcane showcases adorned the streets, a tumultuous celebration of the upcoming bloodshed. Over the cacophony of jubilations, the friends could hear the roar of the crowd within the coliseum, their excitement a palpable force in the air.
As they entered the coliseum, a servile goblin ushered them to a preparation chamber. The room was dimly lit, the air saturated with the metallic tang of past battles and the musk of warriors preparing for combat.
"The matches will be one on one," the goblin's voice crackled, his eyes filled with a strange blend of fear and respect. "You'll be facing the Revenant Reapers. They're a brutal team—"
"No need to worry, friend," IraTater interrupted, flashing the goblin a toothy grin. "We can handle a bit of brutality."
The goblin nodded nervously, taking a few steps back before scurrying away.
"The Revenant Reapers, huh?" Skyblitz murmured, the name rolling off his tongue like a curse. "I've heard rumors. They're supposed to be ruthless."
"Most competitors here are," Redroot rumbled, his massive hands balling into fists. "But so are we."
Askari nodded, the warrior monk's eyes reflecting a deep-seated determination. "We will face this challenge as we have faced all others - together."
The air in the chamber vibrated with their shared resolve. The friends began to prepare for the upcoming fight, the sounds of their armor and weapons echoing in the chamber.
---
Meanwhile, in a similar chamber on the opposite side of the coliseum, a team of formidable warriors prepared for combat. The Revenant Reapers, a team as ruthless as their moniker suggested, were eager to engage in the deadly dance of the tournament.
There was Grimmhilt, a necromancer dwarf whose powers had brought him an unsettling semblance of immortality. Aridorn, an Elven sorcerer with the essence of elemental fire at his fingertips. Shifty Snigg, a halfling rogue with a penchant for bloodshed. Zul'Kur, an Orc shaman capable of summoning the wrath of the ancients. And finally, Galros, a tiefling warlock whose pact with a powerful demon endowed him with a frightening array of dark magic.
"Got our match-ups for the first round," Grimmhilt's gravelly voice resonated in the chamber, his hands holding a piece of parchment. "I've got Askari, the warrior monk. Aridorn, you're up against Skyblitz, the bird-man. Snigg, you'll take the Goliath, Redroot. Zul'Kur, you have the Oathbreaker, Joneson. And Galros, you get to play with the poison Dragonborn, IraTater."
A chorus of anticipatory laughter echoed through the chamber. These were fighters who lived for the thrill of the fight, the rush of blood, and the sweet taste of victory.
---
The time for the first match approached, and an electric tension filled the air. As the friends exited their preparation chamber, they stepped into the staggering expanse of the Coliseum Arcanum.
High above them, in a throne overlooking the entirety of the Coliseum, sat the announcer, an eccentric gnome by the name of Razzle Fizzlebop. With a voice amplified by magical means, he welcomed the crowd to the grand spectacle about to unfold.
"Welcome, one and all, to the Grand Arcana Tournament!" His voice boomed across the Coliseum, echoing off the obsidian walls. "In this corner, a team like no other, bonded by courage, a quintet of outstanding warriors: Askari, Skyblitz, Redroot, Joneson, and IraTater! And in the other corner, a ruthless band of hardened fighters, known for their merciless tactics: the Revenant Reapers!"
A deafening cheer erupted from the spectators as the two teams stepped into the arena, each fighter sizing up their respective opponent.
"May the best team prevail!" Razzle Fizzlebop's voice rang out, a signal of the brutal spectacle to come. "Let the Grand Arcana Tournament commence!"
The friends shared a final look of camaraderie, each promising the other that no matter what happened, they would face it together.
As the echoes of the crowd's cheers filled the air, the friends braced themselves. The stage was set. The dance of death was about to begin.
With the commencement of the tournament, the atmosphere within the Coliseum Arcanum transformed. The anticipation reached fever pitch, the audience holding their collective breath as the first combatants took center stage.
"IraTater of the Brotherhood!" Razzle Fizzlebop's voice resonated through the coliseum, his enthusiastic tone whipping the crowd into a frenzy. "Versus Galros of the Revenant Reapers! A venomous dance with the flames of the inferno!"
IraTater walked into the spotlight, his scales shimmering like deadly emeralds. He offered the crowd a cheeky wave, his usual levity on full display despite the high stakes.
Across the battlefield, Galros stood, a menacing figure swathed in a cloak of shadowy flames. His eyes glowed with a fiery intensity, a visual testament to the infernal pact that fueled his magic.
"As per the rules of the Grand Arcana Tournament," Razzle continued, "The fight will go on until one fighter yields, is incapacitated, or… worse."
IraTater couldn't help but roll his eyes at the gnome's dramatic flair. "Alright, big guy," he called to Galros, "Let's give 'em a show."
The tiefling merely smirked, his hands beginning to dance in the intricate patterns of arcane sigils, summoning the deadly magic of his infernal pact.
The match began in earnest, Galros opening with a volley of "Hellfire Bolts", flaming projectiles that exploded upon impact. IraTater nimbly evaded, his agile form a blur on the battlefield.
With a growl, IraTater retaliated with a "Venomous Torrent," a wave of toxic energy that radiated from his outstretched claws. Galros, however, was quick to erect an "Infernal Barrier," absorbing the brunt of the toxic assault.
The two continued to exchange blows, Galros utilizing destructive pyromancy, while IraTater countered with his unique blend of agility and venomous magic. Despite his playful demeanor, IraTater's prowess was undeniable, his movements punctuated by fluidity and precision.
However, as the battle progressed, it became apparent to IraTater that he was gradually being outmatched. Galros' infernal magic was relentless, and while IraTater's agility and venom-based attacks were formidable, they were not enough to keep up with Galros' fiery onslaught.
Spotting his opportunity, Galros decided to play dirty, casting a "Shadow Bind," an underhanded spell designed to immobilize his opponent by exploiting a moment of weakness. The crowd gasped as dark tendrils snaked from Galros' fingers, aiming to entrap IraTater.
But the Dragonborn was not so easily subdued. A deep, guttural growl escaped him as he looked into Galros' smirking face. "You want to play dirty?" He hissed, his scales standing on end as a surge of poisonous energy coursed through his veins.
Embracing his raw power, IraTater unleashed his "Basilisk Strike." His form became a blur, moving with such speed that it seemed to split into multiple images. In the blink of an eye, he closed the gap between him and Galros, his claw striking true. A potent burst of venomous energy erupted from his fingertips, the impact rocking the entire arena.
Galros' smirk was wiped clean off his face as he was thrown backward, crashing into the arena's boundary with an impact that left a crater in the obsidian. The tiefling's body was immobile, his defeat unmistakable.
"And the first round goes to IraTater!" Razzle Fizzlebop's voice echoed throughout the Coliseum Arcanum, the crowd erupting into cheers.
In the shadows of the entrance to the arena, Askari watched with a stormy expression. His fists clenched at his sides, his gaze fixed on the incapacitated form of Galros. He had always believed in the sanctity of honorable combat, and Galros' underhanded tactic had struck a nerve.
As Razzle Fizzlebop announced the next match - Askari versus Grimmhilt - the warrior monk stepped onto the battlefield, his gaze determined and unwavering. He had always held himself to a code of honor, and this fight would be no different. He would win for his friends, and he would do it with dignity.
And so, as the crowd's cheers echoed through the grand Coliseum, the stage was set for the next deadly dance in the Grand Arcana Tournament.
A tense hush fell over the spectators as the next combatants were announced. "Ladies and gentlemen, the next duel in the Grand Arcana Tournament," Razzle Fizzlebop's voice rang out, clear and resonant. "Askari of the Brotherhood versus Grimmhilt of the Revenant Reapers!"
Askari moved to center stage, his warrior monk training evident in his fluid grace. The crowd watched in anticipation as an ethereal golden aura shimmered around him, an echo of his inherent power. Even from a distance, the intensity of his aura was palpable, a testament to his descent from the legendary Sun Wukong.
Opposite him stood Grimmhilt, a dwarf necromancer shrouded in an aura of decay and death. His eyes glowed with an unnatural light as he prepared his formidable defenses.
"Hey, Grimmhilt," Askari called out, his voice carrying over the silence of the coliseum. "I hope you're prepared. Because I plan to end this quickly."
A sinister grin spread across Grimmhilt's face, his voice raspy with cruel amusement. "We'll see about that, monkey boy."
With a resounding gong, the duel began. As expected, Grimmhilt wasted no time in erecting his "Undead Bastion," a towering barrier of necrotic energy intended to shield him from Askari's attacks.
However, Askari was not deterred. With a deep breath, he centered himself, focusing his energy as he had been taught in the monasteries of his homeland. His aura shimmered and intensified, the spiritual energy forming a colossal image of a multi-armed deity, an embodiment of Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of Infinite Compassion.
Grimmhilt's grin faltered as he beheld the spectacle. But before he could react, Askari launched his attack.
"Avalokiteshvara Strike!" Askari roared, the ethereal deity mimicking his movements as they launched a barrage of attacks. Each strike was a concentrated blast of his aura, a devastating assault that battered Grimmhilt's barrier.
The "Undead Bastion," despite its formidable defenses, crumbled under the onslaught. Grimmhilt, robbed of his protective shield, was at the mercy of Askari's barrage. The warrior monk's assault was relentless and in an instant, it was over.
Grimmhilt was left sprawled on the ground, his defenses shattered, his energy depleted. The crowd erupted into cheers as Razzle Fizzlebop announced Askari's victory. "Askari of the Brotherhood is the winner!"
As Askari made his way back to his friends, he was met with high fives and words of praise. The victory, however, brought him no joy. His face remained stern, his mind already on the upcoming battles.
As Skyblitz stepped forward to take the stage, Askari extended his fist to his oldest friend. Skyblitz bumped it with his own, a silent promise of the fight to come. Askari could only hope that the rest of their battles would be fought with honor, for the sake of their brotherhood and the sacred principles they upheld.
"Prepare yourselves, for the gust of competition is about to take flight!" Razzle Fizzlebop's enthusiastic proclamation echoed throughout the coliseum, whipping the spectators into a whirlwind of anticipation. "Skyblitz of the Brotherhood versus Aridorn of the Revenant Reapers!"
Skyblitz emerged onto the battlefield, the embodiment of avian majesty and power. His feathered form shimmered as a warm gust swirled around him, a tangible display of his command over wind magic.
His opponent, Aridorn, carried an imposing aura of his own. His silver hair seemed to flow like mercury, capturing the ominous sheen of his cold eyes. As an Elf warrior, he drew upon the arcane forces at his command, his body language exuding icy determination.
As the starting signal echoed across the coliseum, the tension morphed into a dazzling spectacle of magical prowess. Aridorn was swift, initiating the duel with a "Frost Edge" attack that transformed his longsword into a chilling blade of freezing energy.
Skyblitz, ever the master of the wind, reacted with perfect timing. His "Wind Blade" took form, a blade of compressed air that met Aridorn's icy onslaught head-on. The crowd erupted into cheers, the sheer display of magical mastery a feast for their eyes.
The battle raged on, morphing into an intense back-and-forth between the two combatants. Aridorn kept on the offensive, wielding his chilling magic to launch a series of potent attacks. His "Glacial Wall" forced Skyblitz to keep his distance, while his "Frost Spears" kept the Aarakocra on his talons.
Skyblitz was not to be outdone. His mastery over wind magic was a spectacle in itself. His agile movements, augmented by "Gale Dash," allowed him to evade Aridorn's icy attacks with an effortless grace that seemed almost choreographed. His "Tempest Cyclone" countered Aridorn's defenses, the swirling vortex of wind magic breaking through the icy wall Aridorn had erected.
This thrilling exchange of magic and martial prowess continued, each warrior holding his ground. The crowd watched, breathless, as the two powerhouses collided, each new clash raising the stakes.
Eventually, however, Skyblitz decided it was time to end the match. Channeling his wind magic, he executed his final move, an attack he had perfected over years of rigorous training. "Twister Throw!" he bellowed, the powerful shout resonating across the coliseum.
In a swift, fluid motion, Skyblitz seized Aridorn, his powerful wings carrying them high above the arena. The crowd watched in stunned silence as he summoned a powerful tornado around them, his wind magic swirling with an intensity that left everyone breathless.
The force of the wind spun them around, accelerating until Aridorn was a mere blur in the eye of the storm. With a final, powerful shout, Skyblitz threw Aridorn, propelling him with the force of the swirling wind.
Aridorn plummeted to the ground, his descent marked by a tailwind of force. The impact echoed throughout the coliseum, the ground quaking beneath the force. Dust and debris filled the air, obscuring the view as the crowd held its breath.
When the dust finally settled, Aridorn was revealed, unconscious and defeated, cradled in the heart of a massive crater. Skyblitz landed elegantly on the battlefield, his victory secured.
"Victory to Skyblitz of the Brotherhood!" Razzle Fizzlebop's voice echoed around the arena. The crowd erupted into cheers, their exhilaration shaking the coliseum.
Skyblitz, despite his victory, did not celebrate. His expression was serious, his gaze focused. His mind was already on the battles to come. The Grand Arcana Tournament was far from over, and the Brotherhood was ready to face whatever came next.
As the dust from the previous battle cleared, the Brotherhood gathered in a huddle. Their attention was fixated on Redroot, the Goliath, whose presence was as sturdy and intimidating as a fortress of stone.
"Redroot," Askari began, looking up at his towering friend. "We've seen you hold back, always opting to shield rather than strike. This time, let them witness your true power. Be the landslide, not just the mountain."
Skyblitz joined in, a spark of anticipation illuminating his avian eyes. "You've got this, Red. Make the ground tremble beneath your might."
Redroot nodded solemnly, acknowledging the encouraging words of his companions. "The earth shall quake in my honor."
The crowd's excited chatter fell silent as Razzle Fizzlebop made the next announcement. "Step forward, Redroot of the Brotherhood and Snigg of the Revenant Reapers!"
Snigg, a small yet wiry goblin, walked onto the battlefield, an air of dark magic surrounding him. Redroot followed, his imposing figure causing a wave of silence to sweep across the spectators. The air around him rippled with earth magic, projecting an image that was equal parts awe-inspiring and terrifying.
With a mighty roar, Redroot charged at Snigg, his fist colliding with Snigg's in a thunderous impact that sent shockwaves pulsing through the coliseum. It was a clash of raw strength against potent magic, and the crowd watched in awe as the battle unfolded.
Snigg was swift and cunning, employing his dark magic with a surprising finesse. His "Shadow Warp" allowed him to dodge Redroot's massive strikes and retaliate with "Abyssal Shards." However, Redroot was no easy target. His earth magic countered Snigg's attacks, his "Stone Fist" shattering Snigg's dark energy projectiles while his "Earth Shield" offered unyielding defense.
Despite Snigg's agility and cunning, Redroot stood firm, countering with powerful attacks of his own. He used his "Granite Grasp" to trap Snigg, while his "Boulder Bash" sent the goblin sprawling across the battlefield.
The back-and-forth continued, each fighter displaying their unique set of skills to the fullest. Snigg continued to exploit his nimbleness and dark magic, but Redroot remained a formidable opponent, his resolve as unshakeable as the earth he commanded.
As the battle reached a fever pitch, Redroot decided to end the duel. Gathering his earth magic, he channeled it into a final, devastating attack. With a roar that echoed throughout the coliseum, Redroot slammed his fists into the ground, calling out, "Tectonic Rupture!"
The ground beneath them trembled and shook, a wave of stone and earth erupting beneath Snigg. The goblin had no time to react as the force of the attack knocked him off his feet, sending him crashing onto the battlefield.
When the dust finally settled, Snigg lay unconscious, the aftermath of Redroot's attack evident in the crater surrounding him. Razzle Fizzlebop's announcement of Redroot's victory echoed across the coliseum, met with a deafening roar of approval from the crowd.
The Brotherhood cheered for their friend, their voices drowned out by the thunderous applause. Despite his victory, Redroot remained humble, a gentle smile playing on his lips. His victory wasn't for himself; it was for his friends and the bond they shared. For the Brotherhood, this was just the beginning, and they were ready for the challenges that lay ahead.
As the dust from Redroot's battle settled, the Brotherhood gathered once more. This time, their focus was on Joneson, the Paladin oathbreaker, a man whose past was filled with guilt and redemption, and whose power stemmed from the void itself.
His fellow warriors gave him a solid, reassuring clap on the shoulder. "You've got this, Joneson. You're a Paladin, through and through. Oathbreaker or not, you uphold honor and justice like no other," Skyblitz said, his avian eyes flicking with a hint of admiration.
The others nodded in agreement. Redroot’s gravelly voice echoed Skyblitz's sentiment. "You're not just a warrior, Joneson. You’re a protector. That's your strength."
The air filled with anticipation as Razzle Fizzlebop's voice once again echoed across the coliseum. "Ladies and gentlemen, the final bout of this round. Step forward, Joneson of the Brotherhood and Zul'Kur of the Revenant Reapers!"
Zul'Kur was a towering figure, adorned with intricate tribal tattoos glowing with an arcane energy. He was an orc shaman, known for his potent spirit magic. A formidable opponent, one who had won his previous battles with a ruthless and savage efficiency.
Joneson walked onto the battlefield, his aura of void energy cloaking him like a shadow. Despite the cheering crowd, a sense of stillness enveloped him. His expression was calm, his gaze steady, the air around him seeming to warp slightly as his void magic reacted to his focused state of mind.
The fight began with a massive clash of magic, Joneson's void energy colliding with Zul'Kur's spirit magic. The crowd gasped as the arena filled with a blinding light, both fighters' powers creating an awe-inspiring spectacle.
Joneson was adept with his void magic, utilizing "Void Shield" to block Zul'Kur's spirit attacks, retaliating with his own "Shadow Strike." Zul'Kur was equally skilled, his spirit magic taking the form of ancestral warriors through his "Spirit Summon," each one engaging Joneson with ruthless ferocity.
Back and forth they went, each clash more intense than the last. Zul'Kur’s spirit magic was relentless, but Joneson’s void manipulation allowed him to absorb and deflect the attacks with increasing ease.
However, as the battle wore on, Joneson's void energy started to dominate the field. His "Abyssal Chains" attack ensnared Zul'Kur's spirit warriors, dissolving them into nothingness. His "Black Hole Strike" pulled Zul'Kur off balance, allowing Joneson to land a decisive "Void Punch."
Just as it seemed that Joneson was gaining the upper hand, a commotion stirred from the sidelines. The previously defeated members of The Revenant Reapers rushed into the arena, their expressions desperate and wild.
The crowd gasped as Galros, Grimmhilt, Aridorn, and Snigg stood beside Zul'Kur, their powers radiating menacingly. The odds had abruptly shifted. Joneson, though strong, was now standing against the full force of The Revenant Reapers.
The anticipation was thick as the crowd watched in shocked silence. The Brotherhood stood at the sidelines, their expressions a mix of concern and determination. The stage was set for a showdown like no other, the true test of the Brotherhood's unity and strength yet to come.
The Revenant Reapers' aggressive entrance onto the stage was met with mixed reactions from the crowd, the Brotherhood, and most interestingly, from Joneson himself. The Reapers exuded a sinister, dark energy as they joined Zul'Kur in facing Joneson.
In the Brotherhood's corner, Skyblitz was already halfway into his takeoff, his wings ruffling in anticipation, ready to swoop down and help Joneson. Redroot had tightened his grip on his massive boulder hammer, his eyes reflecting a fierce determination.
But, it was Askari who raised his hand, signaling them to halt. His eyes were locked onto the scene unfolding before them, a calm yet intense look etched onto his face.
"This is his fight," Askari's voice cut through the rising tension. The words were met with immediate confusion and even protest.
"But they're outnumbering him, Askari," IraTater argued, his draconic eyes glaring towards the spectacle in the arena.
Askari, however, was resolute. "Joneson has a strength we've not yet seen. He's been holding back, for reasons only he knows," he continued, his gaze never leaving the center of the coliseum.
There was a pause before Askari recounted a tale, one of a Paladin who had broken his oath to protect those he loved. It was a tale of guilt and redemption, of strength and love. The tale of Joneson, their comrade, their brother in arms. The Brotherhood listened in silence, their eyes now understanding the depth of Joneson's power that lay dormant.
Back in the arena, Joneson stood steady, his gaze meeting Askari's. There was a silent communication, a nod of acknowledgement, and an understanding. It was time.
Without breaking his gaze from the Reapers, Joneson muttered an incantation under his breath. As the words left his lips, the air around him started to warp, and a cold chill swept across the coliseum. His eyes began to gleam with an ethereal light as the Oathbreaker's Seal began to break.
"Void Infinity," he whispered. The two words carried a weight, a promise, and a threat. The darkness swallowed the arena, blotting out the light and encasing the battleground in an impenetrable shroud. The Reapers, about to attack, found themselves in a sea of uncertainty.
Out of the engulfing void emerged figures, formless yet formidable, each a living embodiment of void energy. With every word of Joneson's continued incantation, they grew stronger, their presence more intimidating.
The Reapers tried to retaliate, but their attacks were swallowed by the void. The shadowy figures closed in, a relentless storm of dark energy that crushed their resistance and drowned their cries. The sheer force of the onslaught sent shockwaves through the arena, causing the crowd to gasp in awe.
When the darkness finally receded, the scene that emerged was one of utter devastation. The Reapers lay strewn across the battleground, their energies depleted, their pride shattered.
The crowd erupted into cheers, the echo of "Joneson" resonating throughout the arena. As the Brotherhood rushed to join their victorious comrade in the center, their smiles were as wide as they were proud.
With his friends surrounding him, Joneson looked at each one of them, his eyes softening. The void magic around him faded, replaced by a warm aura. This was more than just a victory. It was a testament of their friendship, their trust, and their unyielding brotherhood. They had emerged triumphant, and for the time being, they could bask in their victory.
It was a powerful conclusion to a stunning display of magic and camaraderie. The Grand Arcana Tournament was far from over, but the Brotherhood had made their mark, and they were ready for whatever came next.

2023.06.02 16:14 Darkginger22 Have a spell made by one of my players that doesn’t make sense to me.

I am running a homebrew campaign, with a lot of homebrew spells. One of my players tried making a spell and it makes zero sense to me, I am hoping someone on here can understand stand it and help decide if it’s good or not.
Here is the spell they sent.
Arcane Bullet Combination
Spell level: 2nd Casting time: 15 minutes Duration: until dispelled Components: Somatic and material(bullets used)
Description: You prepare a circular surface, reminiscent of the aura surrounding your arm, with the bullets (max of 12) surrounding the edges.
An non-physical attack is shot at the surface and dissipates into it. Roll damage for the attack, the damage rolled is split between the bullets, with the damage being rounded down. This damage is added as flat damage of the element’s type.
If the attack shot into the surface is “area of effect” the bullets become explosive with a five foot radius, but now have a saving throw equal to “to hit” plus 9, with the bullet itself still doing its regular damage on a single target (still need to make the attack to see if it hits).
If the attack shot into the surface is a “projectile” then then the bullet does the damage on a singular target as well as the regular bullet’s damage, the bullet also gets an additional plus one to its regular damage and attack rolls (so possible plus 4).
The maximum damage of bullets scales with how magical they are, with regular bullets, the max damage per bullet is 12, with the maximum damage being multiplied by 1.5 for each plus the bullet has. Also each bullet is single use and will disintegrate after use.
Additionally, if the maximum damage the surface can handle is gone over all of the damage gets centered on the caster, with the casters resistance to the damage going down one, potentially becoming vulnerability(144 with 12 normal bullets), this spell can be used again on the same bullets, with the same attack needing to be used or the attack automatically happens on the caster. The risk will be higher as part of the maximum will’ve already been used.

2023.06.02 15:11 Pofski Seeking Advice for a New Pathfinder 2E DM - Implementing Unreleased Remastered Rules & Magic School Changes in "Strength of Thousands" Adventure Path

Greetings, fellow adventurers!
I'm a soon-to-be DM for a Pathfinder 2E campaign, and I'm reaching out for some advice from those with more experience in navigating these treacherous waters. My group and I will soon embark on the "Strength of Thousands" adventure path, and it's my first time running a game in this system, so I'm all ears for any words of wisdom.
More specifically, I've been closely following the news about the upcoming remastered rules set to be released in a few months. I find myself particularly intrigued and excited by some of these changes, and I'm eager to incorporate them into our game ahead of their official release, if possible. However, I'm also wary of the potential for these changes to unbalance the game, and I wouldn't want to unintentionally sabotage our adventure.
Of particular concern is the announced overhaul of the magic schools system. Given that "Strength of Thousands" takes place in a magic school, I'm sure you can see why this has piqued my interest. But again, I'm unsure of how best to incorporate these changes without throwing the balance of the game out of whack.
I'm turning to you all in hopes of receiving some guidance. Has anyone else attempted to integrate these yet-to-be-released rules into their games? What was your experience like? Which rules, if any, do you think are best to hold off on implementing until they're officially released?
Furthermore, how would you approach the changes to the magic schools within the context of this specific adventure path? Has anyone tried it, and if so, do you have any advice or suggestions on how to do it smoothly?
I sincerely appreciate any insights you can provide. Here's to hoping our group's journey will be as epic and memorable as the adventures you've all experienced!
May your dice always roll 20s, and may your adventures be filled with excitement and intrigue!
Thank you!

2023.06.02 13:24 s_s_sheofthera Custom lamp icons in magic sheet Eos

I’ve seen magic sheets with mac auras, X5s, lustrs, robe movers etc, and I wondered how can I get these icons into my own magic sheet?
The icons are still the same outline type of image as the ones that are already in eos, but they are definitely the lamps they are labelled as and were uploaded by the programmer.
Are they from vectorworks or can I find them online somewhere?

2023.06.02 12:32 IraGulaSuperbia Full Build Friday - Jubilee

Full Build Friday - Jubilee
Jubilee was one of my favorite characters from the old X-Men cartoon.
Marvel Comics' Jubilee
JUBILEE
CHARACTER Jubilation Lee
SOURCE Marvel Comics
BUILD GOALS
o Born to affluent parents, Jubilation Lee demonstrated a talent for gymnastics and a penchant for troublemaking, which led to her discovering her powers while fleeing from mall security
o When her parents died in a car crash, she took to hiding in a Hollywood shopping mall where she encountered the X-Men and followed them through their portal, hiding in their base for a time
o With the X-Men, she formed a close bond with Wolverine but remains cheerful and good-humored
o She has served on several iterations of the team, including Generation X
o When Scarlet Witch altered reality and decimated the mutant population, Jubilee was one of those that lost her powers. During this time, she used a strength-enhancing power suit to operate as the heroine Wondra
o She was made a vampire by the son of Dracula and wielded unnatural strength and speed, enhanced senses such as night vision, and the ability to turn into mist
o During a dire situation, a student sacrificed a fragment of the Phoenix Force to cure her vampirism and restore her powers
o Jubilee can generate dazzling explosions of light and force, which she refers to as fireworks, and the upper limits of her power allow her to detonate matter at a sub-atomic level
o Her mind possesses a natural defense against telepathic detection and attack, making her difficult for mental beings to track
o She suffers from dyscalculia, a learning disability that affects her ability to do arithmetic
Level 20 Jubilee, Page 1
Level 20 Jubilee, Page 2
Level 20 Jubilee, Page 3
BUILD CONCLUSION
For this explosive mutant, Jubilee is built as a human sorcerer with the acrobat background. This background reflects her training as a gymnast in her youth while her penchant for troublemaking is represented by her investment in Deception, Stealth, and eventually Thievery. I would have liked to increase her Stealth more for her build to reference her time hiding both in a shopping mall and an X-Men base, but other skills took precedence. I could potentially see swapping out Diplomacy increases for Stealth to reference this. Jubilee was one of the first of Wolverine’s teenage sidekicks and she represents this with Keen Follower, Cooperative Nature, and other feats about working alongside others since that also reflects her time with various teams. After losing her powers, Jubilee was transformed into a vampire and while the build couldn’t fit in the Strength to represent her might, she does use the Vampire Dedication to gain darkvision and Turn to Mist. She eventually regained her powers, the ability to generate dazzling explosions of light and fire, which she mainly relies on ignite fireworks, firework blast, and pyrotechnics to generate. By dipping into the Firework Technician Dedication, she gains even more fireworks that she can spontaneously create. Any DCs for these fireworks uses her spell DC, which gets up to legendary as a caster. For her innate defense against telepathic detection and attack, she uses the Slippery Secrets skill feat.
This build creates a caster who supplants her explosions, both magic and mundane, with dazzling flashes while she remains surprisingly slippery thanks to her talent for trickery and vampire powers allowing her to transform into mist.
Vampire Jubilee
Over on the blog, I do a more detailed breakdown that covers several blocks of levels at a time and also features suggestions for playing the build in a free archetype game. I'll post the link to that in the comments so that folks can check it out at their leisure and so it doesn't prevent the post from going up. Lemme know what you think and who else you might like to see.
Have a fantastic Friday!

2023.06.02 10:41 bubba_169 [H] Steam Games [W] Any Working Steam Key For a Quick Game Swap

The giveaway where you also give back! I'm offering a quick trade for any valid steam key. If there's something on the list you want, make me a sensible offer and it will most likely be accepted. The list keeps on cycling so check back at any point as there may be something you like added later on!
I'm not after lists to look through, I want you to offer me your unwanted steam keys for games from this list of a similar value. Think of it like a book swap - take one and leave one. You get a game you want and the one you leave might be the one somebody else wants.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to the nature of the quick swap, most of these keys are from previous trades and donations and I have no way to verify them or check for region locks. Even with the best intentions from all sides, mistakes will be made and some of these keys may not work. I'll always send the key first and ask you to redeem before sending me anything to make sure they work for you.

How it works

  1. You offer me any steam game(s) of a similar value to any of those in this list in the comments. Please comment first, don't just DM me.
  2. I say yes if the games you want are still available and we trade. I'll DM you the keys first for you to redeem then you send me yours once you're happy they worked. Please also let me know of any region locks when we trade.
  3. The keys you give me go back on the list ready to trade with someone else and the cycle starts again.

Games Available:

Always let me send you the key first so you can check it works

Tier 1 (Key value of £1 or less)

Tier 2 (Key value of £1 - £2)

Tier 3 (Key value of £2 or more)

I'm depending on people being honest for this to work and I'll keep track of where all keys come from so I can report any abuse to the mods. Please don't re-trade these keys any further since I can't guarantee they will work and I don't know if there are any region locks. I don't want you to be accused of scamming! I'll always ask you to redeem first in a trade before sending me any keys but if you choose not to redeem as we trade then I won't be held responsible for any future problems as I have given you fair warning.

Valuing Trades

We'll use gg.deals UK key shops price as a way to compare the value of games. If a key shop price isn't available we'll use best judgement based on retail price and recent bundles. Key values change daily so if you notice something is in the wrong tier please let me know. To keep things accessible we'll cap key value at £2.
As a general rule I will usually accept any game in the same tier as a fair trade. I've also accepted trades with games at the top end of a lower tier for games at the bottom end of the next tier. We can trade multiples to even out values but they don’t need to be exact as long as the trade is reasonable. If I already have a surplus of a game you're offering, I may turn you down until the existing copies have been traded.
If anyone just wants to donate any keys that are no good to them to the list then I’m always grateful to receive them. Just DM me and I’ll add them. A huge thank you to those that have already donated keys to this project.

Region Locks

Any region locks I know about with be noted next to the affected games. I have no way to check so there may be others. I'll always go first in a trade so you can make sure the key works for you before sending me any of yours.

Why?

A short while ago I had some spare keys from bundles that I couldn't find a trade for. The traders with the games I wanted already owned the games I had and the traders who wanted the games I had didn't have anything I'd want in return. I was thinking of giving up and giving away my keys but then I had an idea - If I was willing to accept any game in return, I could trade with those that wanted my games and break the trading deadlocks for the more common, lower value games. I could add the games I didn't want myself back onto the list and if I ended up with a load of rubbish that nobody wanted then I'd only lost what I was willing to give away anyway.
Even though re-trading is nothing new, removing personal interest and accepting a trade for any game makes trading much more accessible to others - especially those with only a few spare keys. The idea was popular and it gained momentum. I also received some generous donations and the list grew into what you see above. Even though I don't get much from it myself (I do keep the occasional game that catches my eye) I am happy that I can help others get games they can play in exchange for keys they have no use for. The community has really come through with honesty, helping to grow this into something worthwhile.
Thanks everyone!

2023.06.02 10:17 Akira_Makai First experience with a new system went great! (Sarcasm)

Hello all! I have been playing ttrpgs for around 4, almost 5 years now and despite being in many different diverse groups I've never had any horror stories to share. Now, I have at least one minor one.
People involved are myself(female, because it unfortunately matters), DM, Rogue, Ranger, Fighter, Bard and Witch. This is a Pathfinder 2nd Edition game.
Most of my experience has been with 5e, and I hadn't really touched any other system. So, when everything went south with Wizards of the Coast and the OGL and Pinkertons, I decided to branch out and try other systems. That is when I managed to find a group for Pathfinder! I was excited to learn the system, so as soon as I was in, I started reading the core rulebook and listening to videos on the rules of the game.
The initial party consisted of everyone but Witch(she would join later). DM proclaims he has about 3 years experience running 5e games, but is new to Pathfinder himself. No big deal, it seems all of us are new, with Rogue and Ranger being brand new to ttrpgs. We'll learn the system together. Things start off somewhat okay, with a skirmish between two sides, with players split between the two factions. Combat is very basic and everything dies in a single hit, without really attacking us directly. We do discover that Bard's character is... Well, the best way to describe him was a flamboyant elf, using an offensively stereotypical gay voice and cadence, who ran from the battle at the first sign of trouble. That was... Off-putting, but it was whatever.
We cleared the encounter, and one side clearly won. My character was actually knocked unconscious, but was picked up and carried by another player of the opposing faction, Fighter. We then all eventually stumbled across a large dragon man, basically a Dragonborn, who breathed lightning, and had a huge axe and plate armor. When we fought him, all at lvl 1, still worn out from the last battle. Almost no one could hit his AC, and he nearly downed half the party before we managed to win. I later found out that the DM just used a level 3 player stat block for this guy, and buffed his HP, which I know in 5e, at least, is a bad idea.
After this, the DM had a shady NPC show up out of nowhere and invite us to come along with him. This was the first sign that the DM wasn't very good at roleplaying, or at least doing so in a convincing way. But, this was the plot hook, so we all went with it. The DM then showed off their inexperience again when we were offered a mission from this NPC, and Rogue asked some pretty softball questions about why we'd want to work with them. As an aside, rogue's backstory involved working with criminals, and these guys were like rebels against the empire who invaded the city.
Either way, we had to go to an auction house to buy a magical item. We were given 50 gold to buy the item, and this was where the DM displayed their inability to describe rooms to us. The description was very bland, and didn't paint much of a picture for us. He also didn't really do many voices, so it was difficult to tell if an NPC was talking, or if it was the DM out of character. Regardless, we found the item we needed, placed bids and got into a bidding war with a noble. For whatever reason, this makes the bard decide to set off a... Distraction, by trying to cast a spell on the noble to charm them, to which they roll a 37 to resist. We are level 2, by the way. This leads to bard's backup plan.
Bard lights and shoots off fireworks in the auction house, causing the entire roof to cave in and severely injure most of us. Rogue did manage to snatch the item, and slip away along with Ranger. Bard ran down the street escaping the guards, and myself and fighter just stood around in disbelief, because up until that point, we had all blended in without issue. There was no reason for such a huge commotion. We stayed and the noble spoke to us, but we talked our way out of it, Fighter being the type from a military/mercenary background, and myself being a local farm girl.
Eventually, we all met up, and in between sessions, the entire group agrees to kick Bard for playing a blatant caricature and being chaotic stupid. He also talked over and interrupted people a lot, and really tried to push his luck with every ruling. And, before we returned to the quest NPC, we got a new player, Witch, who immediately rubbed myself and Fighter the wrong way because she was playing an older, grandmother type, character who... No matter what you said... She knew more than you, or at least as much as you.
Once we got back to the quest NPC, we were paid for the job, and given the option of taking other quests. We did one on an island, it was a poorly narrated place with a simple puzzle that everyone kind of overcomplicated. Typical rpg stuff. Then another, where we got to see Ranger awkwardly flirt with an NPC as a distraction. He was terrible at it, and we all had a great laugh.
I should point out that in each of these sessions we played, DM usually sounded very unprepared, even when we were doing what was clearly intended. He also frequently showed that he was not doing anything to learn the system between sessions. He'd make the same mistakes each week, forget how many actions his NPCs have taken, or even how saves and checks work, frequently using passives, instead of opposed checks. It was frustrating, because we had two brand new players to TTRPGs and we were all new to the game. Yet, it was Fighter and myself, and occasionally Witch as her know-it-all trait wasn't character specific, who were explaining the rules. I even had to correct him on crits once, because he said the number on the attack roll, even with 20, was below the AC. He argued until I showed him the ruling, and he then changed to saying he knew how it worked. Apparently not.
I digress... In game, we did another mission that resulted in our party being ambushed by the noble we had seen at the auction house. The party was then split on motives, as the Witch felt this guy was evil and refused to change her mind, while he told my character he could help her find her biological mother(she was adopted, and there was a lot of familiarities between him and her). Other than what Witch felt about him, and that he was a noble from the invading kingdom, we had no real reason not to trust him. Well, once we were released and able to discuss things, and no matter what anyone did in trying to convince Witch to work with noble, she refused without giving any explanation in or out of character. She just didn't like the guy because of where he was from.
The session ended without us having chosen a side, and we were poised to visit with the noble the next day. The morning of that day, during the next session, Fighter couldn't make it, so we said he went off to talk to someone from his back story, and we went shopping. Rogue got herself a crossbow and Ranger helped teach her how to use it. We then went to a local restaurant my character frequently went to with her adoptive father. This was a fun opportunity for my character to kind of talk about her childhood a bit, how important family is, and some stuff about her dad. When we got there, the Ranger asked what he should order, and my character recommended this huge, expansive breakfast, and I even made up a name for it, the "Hungry Farmers Breakfast" and added that her father proclaimed to have been the first to order it and even named it. Cue our Witch chiming in to say he lied, because this dish is served all across the land. She's eaten it at tons of places.
Now, it's worth mentioning that I had brought it up to DM multiple times that Witch has a know-it-all, one-up whatever you say, personality, and that it really detracts from what others can do. He's said he talked to her about it, and nothing has changed despite that. This, for me, was the last straw. I called her out, and said for her to let us come up with unique character development that we want, and to not steal the wind from our sails. I might have been a bit rude about it, but it was a repeated issue that had yet to be resolved. Witch tried to defend what she said by comparing it to stuff in real life, like from chain restaurants, and I had to point out that they don't tend to have chain restaurants in fantasy worlds, and that this place was specifically a local place.
After that, Witch got quiet and the DM ended the session an hour early because he had stuff to do, and Witch was apparently feeling sick. Supposedly unrelated to being called out. I talked to Rogue and Ranger, and neither of them thought I was out of line, and were sort of feeling the same way about how she was acting. I messaged DM the next day about it, and he promised he'd talk to her again.
I waited a few days, and the Discord server was quiet, and I messaged DM, asking if they had heard back from Witch since they messaged her, and he said he hadn't. He then told me, absolutely out of the blue, that he had a dream of me, that I was holding a baby, and he and I went on a walk together. I... Had never had the misfortune of hearing something like this before, and just promptly tried to change the subject. Fortunately, he went with the change and we talked a bit about Pathfinder stuff. Now, DM knows I'm married, I live in a different country than him, and that I'm... Around 10 years older than him. So, I was very confused as to why he would ever say anything like that to me.
We skipped the next session because two players couldn't make it, and during this time, I asked a lot of people IRL, and in other ttrpg games I'm in about the situation, showing screenshots of the conversation so they had, verbatim, what he said. Everyone, guys and gals, thought it was either super weird, or outright creepy as heck. I agreed, and decided that this would be the last nail in the coffin. Poor descriptions, bad roleplay, terrible rulings, no enthusiasm during actual sessions and suggestions of introducing broken critical failure rules, like permanent injuries or dismemberment into a game with total ttrpg newbies ON TOP of this guy also dreaming about me with a baby. I was done.
I wrote the DM a length explanation, told him how creepy it was, and that I'd be leaving. Wished him well, and waited for his response. To his credit, he didn't explode. But, he did say that I was overreacting because what he said wasn't explicitly sexual or romantic, and so I shouldn't take it that way. Yeah, I'll just take my friend's advice, where she said he was testing the waters with the dream stuff. I told the group I was leaving, without context outside of things just weren't for me. Wished them well.
When I left, Rogue, Ranger and Fighter all stayed in touch and wanted to play more games with me. DM, on the other hand, decided to air out everything that he and I said, sharing screenshots of the conversation and... Yeah. Rogue and Ranger were both kind of shocked by it. Rogue said it was none of her business, and agreed that DM was a creep. Ranger was a bit more forgiving about the dream stuff, but was also offput by the airing of dirty laundry. Fighter left when I did, so he didn't see it.
Tldr: Joined a Pathfinder 2e game where the DM went from incompetent and underwhelming, to really creepy, alongside a player who glorified a gay stereotype, and another who wouldn't let anyone have any cool moment, because she had apparently experienced everything in life, and it was better than whatever you did.
Glad to be out of that group, and now I have Fighter, Rogue and Ranger in a group that I and Fighter take turns DMing one shots in until we can find someone who would like to be a DM for us on a longer form adventure.
All in all, far from the worst horror story, but still an interesting little rollercoaster. I hope you enjoyed this. Sorry if it was a long read.

He feels it.
As he lays on the frigid concrete floor of his filth-ridden cell, he feels a part of himself returning. The part of himself The part that had vacated the nucleus of his very soul years ago, leaving behind in its absence an insatiable emptiness. In his half-deceased state, he senses the gradual, languid, teasing creep of his magical vigor crawling its way back into the void of his core, back into its rightful throne.
The moonlight cascades through the lone window present, casting the silhouettes of the invading undergrowth and epiphytes upon the moss-infested walls embracing him. His ill-lit asylum is illuminated by the glow of the full moon, granting him a glimpse of his sorrowful predicament.
Laying his gaze on his wrists and ankles, he is able to discern the instruments of his subjugation: steel cuffs and shackles infused with reverse magic energy. Antithetical energy that had plundered him of his power and strength, leaving the apex sorcerer a husk of his once near-divine form. He glances down upon himself, taking in his ghostly complexion and the emaciation that has consumed his frame, leaving behind only bones and skin. Motion has been reduced to a thing of the past, his physique and anatomy unable to bless him with the grace of such function.
His musings are halted. The slow, trickling buildup of his wayward magic energy has now become a torrential deluge, flooding his desolate soul. Like rain on a desert, he is quenched.
Kaleidoscopic irises begin to radiate with unabashed glee; he can feel it.
The bondages that had once declawed and tamed him started to decay. His magical aura starts to overflow; pearlescent wisps of fleeting energy emanate from his being, enveloping his cove in hues of blue, pink, and purple.
He once again regards the banes of his freedom, and he wrenches his arms and legs apart. The rigid steel bites into his flesh, resisting the force being exerted. The tension starts to eat away at his muscles and tendons; gashes and lacerations form, and carmine-colored liquid seeps from the wounds.
He does not relent, he does not forfeit, and he does not break.
His magical energy continues to surge and crash like a raging storm, and he feels alive once more. Reinvigoration fills him to completion, and with renewed ardor, he excavates his revitalized well of limitless power and tugs with all his might.
Snap
Everything ceases. The hues fade to nothingness, leaving the moonlit luminescence to be his only enkindled companion once more. His energy is calm; the storm of raging waves within him has ceased, now ebbing and flowing in gentle flutters. He is enlightened.
An attempt at a chuckle reverberates from his parched, shriveled throat, but the only sound to grace his lips is a malformed croak. In spite of his withered and debilitated state, the sole emotion coursing through his being and granting him an intoxicating high was sheer and utter bliss. He knows that the clock hands have finally struck his hour of vengeance.

2023.06.02 03:57 Previous_Birthday_33 Glow up story (manifestation and self-esteem)

TW:
- it's a long post
- I mention weight. Not the numbers but I talk about weight loss
- If something triggers you, please mention it nicely, I would gladly modify the story. I don't want to cause pain to anybody

Before changing my self-concept and my self-esteem, I had been insecure my whole life. Here is the story of how I leveled up from the inside out.
Back story: even though I don’t like to admit it, my appearance is very important to me. I love beautiful things and people, and not considering myself as one of them almost made me feel unworthy. I was a pretty child, and I honestly was always quite pretty but being insecure made me appear less attractive than I really was (posture and attitude play such a big part in your appearance!). Also because I was so insecure I did not get into a serious relationship before 23 years old because I was convinced that nobody could be attracted to me. On top of that, I used to be a very skinny teenager but gained a lot of weight that I never could accept once I started taking the pill at 18 years old.
About the law: I’ve known about manifestation, the law of attraction, and the law of assumption since 2020. I manifested a few things without really believing or understanding, but then I had kind of an awakening recently and manifested something so huge that I now have unshakable faith.
While manifesting for my now SO, I decided to mainly focus on my self-concept and on glowing up.
I had 3 main affirmations :
NB: these are my affirmations. Make ones that resonate with you personally
The most difficult for me to manifest was weight loss: I had tried to lose weight for the past 3 years but I could never commit to a diet or workout routine and ended up with an eating disorder and a f*cked up metabolism. After realising that diets did not work and especially that a limiting timeframe was never a good idea (again: for me personally setting up an end date does not work when I manifest), I just decided to stop trying. I started eating what I want, and went from weighing myself twice a day to every other week. I am not gonna lie, it took a bit of time for my body to adjust. At first, I was losing weight veeeery slowly but still, I was losing weight. I slipped sometimes and tried fad diets again: they never worked. In a year, I still lost about 10kg.
I still needed to lose 6kg to attain my goal weight. So I just affirmed, and affirmed, and affirmed. Every day, everytime I caught myself thinking “I look fat”, “these pants don’t fit”, “my tummy is sticking out”, “he thinks i’m fat” I immediately counter acted and said “I weigh XXkg”, “I am a skinny legend”, “Everyone thinks I’m skinny”, “I have the fastest metabolism” etc etc. And by persisting, it started working. It was not immediate but once the affirmations started to sink in, I started seeing little progress, which gave me hope. It was like a virtuous circle "I lose weight" ==> "I feel more confident" ==> "I believe more" ==> "I lose more weight". Also not having food and calories on my mind 24/7 really contributed to me being more positive and happy. At one point, I was going to the bathroom 3 times a day (maybe TMI) (but you know, fast metabolism). And in one month, I dropped all the weight.
Even my roommates who are seeing me every day noticed how fast I dropped weight. But they were seeing me eating very well and snacking, and I felt very healthy too, so they were not too worried and neither was I. When I came home, all I could hear for months from my family members was how much weight I lost and how good I looked.
I enjoy walking, so I walked a lot and told myself that my body was burning twice as many calories as what the app was saying. I got lean and exactly how I wanted my body to be in a month, even though I was walking as much as the month before.
I focus a lot on weight loss because that is what I struggled the most with and spent more energy manifesting, but after it realized it unfolded everything. I was always convinced that losing weight would make my face look 10 times better and it did: I got a sharper jawline, my dimples show more, the features I like are more prominent and even my nose got thinner somehow. I got more confident so my posture naturally got better. A new skincare routine and bam, it works perfectly and I have the porcelain skin I always wanted.
It was not “magic”, and I invested more time in my style and in pampering myself too, to make me believe that it worked.
Another thing I did was start to notice things more. I realized that I received a lot of compliments already; and when I started noticing them and being grateful they kept coming. Before that when I would receive a compliment I would always assume “They’re just being nice”. I changed that and just believed it. I started to believe that when people are looking at me on the street or wherever it’s because they can’t believe how pretty I am. And I started receiving more and more compliments, nobody is ever mean or rude to me and I get free stuff sometimes.
Finally, and maybe the most important thing, I changed my attitude. I started being more positive, smiling more, and complaining less (very hard task as a French). When I was insecure, I used to be very judgmental (in my head ofc!) of other people’s appearance. I started complimenting people more, and genuinely finding them beautiful. I stopped acting like the victim and focused on everything I really liked about my appearance instead of focusing on the negative. I started being more grateful. I also did not obsess over it and focused on other things and projects.
I obviously have my days when I feel like sh*t but I generally assume that I am beautiful.
Other little proofs that my affirmations work:
Final words: to be honest, I did not change that much physically. I’m just “the best version of myself”, and I am absolutely satisfied with it. And when I look at old pictures of myself, I don’t understand why I used to be so insecure. It was more a journey of realizing my worth and it reflected physically. I don't worry as much about my appearance now because I just know I look good and I don't need the validation of others anymore. Being confident in my looks gave me a lot of opportunities, and not obsessing over my appearance is also very liberating!

2023.06.02 02:21 Drakolf Dragon Rising- 12. Silence Before:

I was not in a place to think about it, not at the time.
The response to the attack was universal, those of us with the power to fight, did. We lost many Kobolds, most of them who couldn't defend themselves, some who had Awakened in the midst of combat, desperate to survive.
The Humans I had engaged with were just one of many groups, we killed most of them, the rest fleeing.
It was hard to ignore the seething hatred I felt in my heart as I looked at the dead. We had build the catacombs such that, any other large-scale loss would be accommodated.
We lost 435 people- Humans included.
Children included.
The people were furious, of course. "What the hell were you doing, where you let this happen!?" An enraged screech was aimed at us.
"The best that I could, under these circumstances." Tudru stated. "Our enemy has guns and kevlar, are highly trained soldiers who have had far longer to train than most of us. We have had our Fighters and Berserkers for days."
His words mollified the anger, just a little. "We have had our Rangers scouting damn near every day, they are still out there, either dead, or holed up waiting for rescue. We do not have the manpower or the training to ensure our protection. We can only react accordingly."
Calm, collected, he was used to war, to casualties. This was an inevitability to him, something we could only mitigate the damage on, not control.
"Our Rogues have gone to great lengths to obtain as much intelligence on their movements, their plans. Even then, without access to the world beyond their wall, there is only so much we can learn." Nakk spoke. "Ruuk, we heard reports you successfully routed a large group of soldiers alone."
"Yes." I said. "Nineteen, three captured, and only one allowed to escape." I stated. "The prisoners I took will be held by the Temple and interrogated." I looked at everyone. "We are no longer a part of their country, this has been proven time and time again. We have done nothing against them, desiring only peace, yet because we are an inconvenience to them, because we are other, all of us, Human, Dragonborn, and Kobold, are nothing but vermin for them to exterminate."
I let my hatred and vitriol layer each word. "Kurtulmak and I have been working hard to ensure our unity, we have been working hard on enchanting armor to grant our warriors greater protection. It is a time-consuming and laborious process, three days of effort has earned us one completed set."
"It wasn't even one day when you got that armor." Kuvli interjected.
"This armor, he had made, he cut his palm and spread his blood upon it, as a mark of his favor." I said. "Unless it is the wish of the people, do devote their lives to him in service, in fealty, he will not make such a claiming mark upon them." I shook my head. "No, he works hard within my Tower, carving the runes necessary, granting them but the merest of arcane protection. This is as quickly as he can do this without claiming us as his followers."
"If it is your wish to be granted such instant protection, then it will either be under the auspices of Bahamut and his Temple, or the banner of Kurtulmak's Empire, not the democratic society we strive to maintain. I have always rejected the notion of theocracy, have railed against the country we had once loved for allowing the few to dictate such."
The people cheered at my words, more than a few shouted 'Freedom' and similar sentiments.
One of the Kobolds who had pledged themselves to me, Hagnar, spoke up among the din, I held my hand up to quiet the crowd. "You, the one so desperately trying to speak. What do you need to say?" I asked.
"What if that was what we did want?" He asked. "What if we wanted a strong leader, rather than a group who doesn't know what they're doing?"
"I'm sure Tudru or Galax would be flattered." I said. I looked at them.
"I will not lead a military dictatorship." Tudru stated tersely.
"If it was the will of the people who join together under the banner of the King of Dragons, it would be out of my hands." Galax replied. "Is that what you are asking?"
Hagnar shook his head. "No offense, but your Paladins didn't even bother engaging with the enemy. Yes, they used magic to shield us from the bullets, but it was the Fighters and the Barbarians who led the charge and fought for our lives and their's. It was Kurtulmak who Awoke them, it was him who gave us our first Warlock, who did not hesitate in the slightest to fire back with his magic gun like that, it was Ruuk who fearlessly charged into the line of fire, netting us our greatest victory in capturing enemies." He looked at me. "I would rather him lead us."
I shook my head. "I'm sorry." I said. "I would need a good reason to even consider that, even Kurtulmak suggesting I do it would not be enough. We would need to be in a truly desperate situation, I would have to be the only Councilor alive, even then, I doubt I would take that opportunity."
It hurt to lie to them like this.
"My fellow Councilors, do you agree with me?"
"Of course." Rekka said. "But you don't have to work alone on those armors, my Artificers will help in whatever way you need."
"Thank you." I said. "Galax."
"Yes?" Galax asked.
"Please do not let one man's displeasure with the Temple cause you grief. Your Paladins chose to preserve life over letting innocent people die needlessly. Without their aid, I could not have engaged our enemies."
He bowed his head in acknowledgement, but did not say anything in return.
"Let us mourn the ones we have lost, to say farewell for now, until the Temple can return them to us." Tallyn spoke. "Let us hope that the level we have received for our efforts to defend ourselves is a portent that this day will arrive sooner."
I debated whether or not to let it be known that I was a full level ahead of them, that the satisfaction I felt slaughtering our enemies came with that euphoric sense that I had grown stronger.
My need to detect magical auras was diminished, now that we knew what the Gate above us was, so I replaced it with something else that we needed, a means to sow discord among our enemies, which would complement my new ability to remotely spy on any place I was familiar with.
For the time being, I would wait.
We gathered among the dead, Humans and Kobolds alike, Not a single one, I noted, was from the Temple, nor among their faithful. Was I beginning to feel paranoid, or was there something to this? Galax's response to Hagnar's question.
'Sir.' I heard as Kalith approached me. He rested his hand on the body before him.
"What is it?" I asked.
'Don't speak. I am addressing you telepathically. A gift from our Master.' He knelt beside the corpse, lifted up her hand, and gently kissed it. 'I have found other prospective Warlocks, they wish to meet with our Master tonight. They are tired of being powerless to stop these horrors.'
I gently patted his shoulder, he looked up at me and I have him a single nod. He stood up and hugged me, his crying was genuine, as was my grief.
The dead were taken to the catacombs, and I returned to my Tower. I saw a small group of people stood outside of it, to my bemusement, they were prostrated while facing it.
"What are you-" I quickly counted them. "-five doing outside my home?" I asked.
They all looked up at me with reverence, surprised me by reaching out and touching my armor. Okay then.
"We wish to worship Kurtulmak." One of them, Igo, spoke. I had let them in, gave them some tea that had long gone cold. "We saved us from the very beginning, he held up the mine for us, and now, his Awakening of the Fighters, the Barbarians, and the Warlock have ensured our survival. What has Bahamut done for us, except make it rain? What has he done since, except consign you to death because you felt empathy?"
He gave a deep bow. "Please, Chosen Hero of our people, let us see him."
"Follow me, then." I said. I led them up the stairs, where Kurtulmak was still working.
"Another distraction?" He asked. He looked up from his work when he heard the thumps of the five prostrating themselves before him. "Ah, I was beginning to wonder when you showed up."
"You were expecting us?" Dren asked, his tone hopeful.
"Indeed. Approach, and kneel. Do not prostrate yourself, gaze upon me so that you see my glory."
They approached him and knelt, their eyes wide with joy as Kurtulmak's eyes glowed and he touched them. The familiar sight of Awakening made me smile.
"More Warlocks, Master?" I asked.
"Better." He replied. "Our first Clerics. A bit behind of our allies, yet I see absolutely zero issue with this. Sit and listen, my faithful, I shall tell you the truth of my ascension. It was in the midst of the Dawn Age, the Age of Dragons. I was the first Kobold, the first servant of the Dragonspawn, servant of the Goddess, Tiamat." His wistful expression darkened slightly. "I was born from the egg of my creator and mother, Caesinsjach, who bade me serve her Goddess."
The Clerics listened, one even began writing this down. I wondered where he got the pen, I'd thought we'd run out months ago.
He spoke of how he directed the construction of Darastrixhurthi, building a grand fortress in his mother's honor. He spoke with such love and adoration, it was clear that he had deeply loved and respected her.
"Caesinsjach, who was among the first Dragons created by Asgorath, saw my works and released me from the duty I was made for, and ruled the state in her honor."
He spoke of how our kind had once been charged with simply guarding the place, and was eventually raised to be higher than the servants of the Dragons.
"We first encountered the Gnomes when we came across a cavern full of glimmering gemstones. It was a full week before we met them. The Gnomes attacked us, they did not allow us even a moment to question what was happening. We fought them, and as was tradition in those times, we took them as slaves. It was only then did we learn, yet we were so angry, we refused to release them, refused to return them."
He paused, a look of bitter anger on his face. "It was during the first Rage of Dragons, that my mother was stricken mad. She and many others attacked the land they had once ruled, I was the one who was forced to end her life. Before her body had even begun to cool, the Gnome God chose then to take his people and their precious soul gems, and then he destroyed what remained of our home."
He set his tools aside and ran his finger over the etchings he had made. "Our people were scattered, and I was dead, as were so many of my people. Wise Asgorath sought restitution for us, when the other Gods refused to take action against Garl." He spoke that lone name with such hatred in his voice, I understood why he believed there was no victory in playing by the rules. "I still clung tightly to my body, undead, briefly, desiring vengeance, working tirelessly to free those of us trapped and alive under the rubble. Asgorath promised me, either life with the strength to rebuild, or divinity. As a God, I saved as many lives as I could."
He paused long enough to enchant the armor, and then started on the next.
"I entered into Tiamat's service, to claim the vengeance my people needed, to punish Garl for his heinous actions. If the Gods who professed to be good would not punish such an evil act, then I would. In my hunt, he lured me through a portal to this world, whereupon he collapsed the tunnels leading out, cursing this place such that I could never find my way out."
He spoke of the long years spent in his prison, excavating stone and rebuilding Darastrixhurthi, his reach was limited, his worshipers could not hear his voice clearly, Without proper guidance, the societies they strove to build simply failed to come into existence, the other Races either enslaving them or killing them.
"All that remains are the children of slaves." He spoke morosely. "And now that I am free, I will do everything within my power to restore us to that glory, to gaze upon the world, knowing they will never hunt us down. Our enemies will kneel before our mighty Empire."
The way he spoke, with such calm conviction, I felt that same sense of awe as when Bahamut had struck the ground with lightning.
"Question, Master." I said.
"You may ask." Kurtulmak stated.
"Where will we build your temple?"
He laughed. "I recount to you my tale, and you worry about such a thing?" He asked.
"Where else will it be shared?" I asked.
Kurtulmak nodded. "Ask your Council." He said. "After all, Clerics need a place to worship." He regarded the Clerics. "I suppose you will need a sign of your devotion to me. It should be one year and half since you became Kobolds, your new teeth should be coming in soon. When you shed them, gather them and collect them into a necklace, sew them into your clothes, show pride in our traditions."
"We shed teeth?" I asked.
"Yes. It takes around four to five days for the old ones to fall out and for the new ones to come in." He stood up and walked over to me before reaching in and painlessly pulling a tooth out. "See? Before you go to bed, check your teeth, ensure you have all of the loose ones removed. For you, I will need your teeth when you have finished."
I nodded. "As you command, Master." I replied.
He then explained to his Clerics what their vestments would look like...

2023.06.02 00:35 TebaoftheGale Is this broken, and if so by how much?

I would love some feedback of this artifact I made for a 20th level Paladin, basically how ridiculously broken it may be and if there is anything that could be improved upon.
Aegisplate, Armor of Resolute Souls
Artifact, Medium (except for hide) or Heavy Armor (mithril), requires attunement by a Paladin
This suit of mithril armor, known as the Aegisplate, bears the ancient emblem of The Order of Aegis—an esteemed order of knights devoted to protecting the innocent and upholding justice. Crafted by master artisans and infused with the spirits of eight fallen Paladins of the order, the Aegisplate possesses incredible power and a will of its own. The armor provides a +3 bonus to AC, weighs half as much as regular armor of its type, and does not impose disadvantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks.
Sentience. The Aegisplate is a sentient magic item with an Intelligence of 14, Wisdom of 16, and Charisma of 18. It has hearing and darkvision out to a range of 120 feet. The armor communicates telepathically with its attuned wearer and has the ability to speak, read, and understand Common and Celestial.
Personality. The Aegisplate embodies the steadfast and noble ideals of The Order of Aegis. It is loyal to its attuned wearer and possesses the collective wisdom and memories of the fallen Paladins it houses. The armor encourages its wearer to act with valor, protect the weak, and uphold justice. It has a strong disdain for evil and encourages righteous actions. The spirits within the armor are at peace with their fate and offer guidance and council when requested, providing a +2 bonus to Persuasion checks made when speaking to nobles.
Elemental Ward. The Aegisplate has the ability to adapt to magic attacks. Whenever the attuned wearer is hit by an magic attack, the armor instantly switches its resistance to match the type of damage received, providing resistance against that damage type until the end of the wearer's next turn.
The damage types that dpcan be resisted are acid, cold, fire, force, lightning, necrotic, radiant, and thunder.
Revive the Fallen. Once per long rest, if the attuned wearer dies, the Aegisplate can sacrifice one of the spirits within to revive the wearer, bringing them back to consciousness with and restoring half your max hit points. The spirit sacrificed in this way is released from the armor and cannot be restored. Once the spirit is sacrificed roll on the table below to determine which Paladin Oath you lose access to.
D8 Oath 1. Oath of Devotion 2. Oath of the Ancients 3. Oath of Vengeance 4. Oath of Conquest 5. Oath of Redemption 6. Oath of Glory 7. Oath of the Crown 8. Oath of the Watchers
Divine Radiance. The Aegisplate possesses a potent 30-foot aura of radiant energy that can be unleashed as an action, encompassing all creatures within the area. The armor's aura deals 1d8 radiant damage per spirit remaining within the armor, with a successful DC 18 Dexterity saving throw halving the damage. The aura can be used once per long rest.
Spirited Channeling. Once per long rest, the attuned wearer of the Aegisplate can call upon the spirits within the armor to channel the power of one of the eight Paladin oaths. As an action, the wearer can choose one Channel Divinity option from any of the eight Paladin oaths. The wearer gains the benefits of that Channel Divinity option as if they were a Paladin of the corresponding oath equal to half their character level (rounded down). This ability can be used once per long rest.
