I go back to work on June 12 and it's suddenly hitting me like a ton of bricks that I don't think I'm ready.
I don't think I'm ready for multiple reasons; I haven't actually worked since early/mid January and then I went for a couple days a week for about a month/month and a half-ish. Then the other, obvious one, bring that I'm not ready to leave my daughter with a sitter. It's not a stranger, but still. I'm ready to continue spending my days in the routine we are developing. I don't want to miss anything and I feel like things will be different/difficult if I actually say anything.
I have a super supportive partner and I know he'd tell me to stay home longer and try to get me out of the house for a few hours each week to work back into it. He'd talk to our very understanding boss about having me possibly just do part time, which i might even end up suggesting before the 12th.
It's not like i feel like I'm going to be a bad mom for going back to work because I don't. I just don't want to leave her, not even with her very involved, active, wonderful father. I'm fine at home. I just want to be close and I want to be able to see and hear her, pick her up for snuggles, etc.
Does it get easier? I feel like I'm going to have to lie when I inevitably get asked how I'm doing away from her. It's unfortunate my 6 week follow up is the same day I go back to work and I'll only be working roughly a half day before I'll be with her again. So, I can't really judge how well I'm doing back at work and away from her like I would be able to if I had been back at work for at least 3 full days.
I just needed to vent, I guess, because I'm feeling like I can't be honest about these feelings right now.

To be logically consistent, you would have to say that all of these things are morally acceptable under the same justification. Obviously, it is not ok to steal, rape, and murder to please your senses, so the logical conclusion is that it is equally unacceptable to kill animals for taste satisfaction.

Animals have no concept of purpose. Every animal bred for food wants to live, avoid harm, and experience wellbeing. It’s cruel to bring a creature into the world for the sole purpose of exploitation and murder, when you don’t need to. You can just live vegan.

I live in a neighbourhood in a remote area full of forests around and hidden places, which makes a good place for people to do all sort of things, its a very quiet place too. This has been happening for years, people literally dump animals here, i mean mostly big dogs, you can clearly see that the dog just got too big and isnt cute anymore, so they wanted to get rid of them, its always big dogs, they come and go. Luckily my neighbours feed them and i think its way better if they stay around than they go to a shelter, at least here they are free.
Im just on my window having a me time, i started to hear a comotion of dogs going wild which its normal here since theres a house nearby with a bunch of dogs, but this time it was loud, like loud loud. Right now i just saw 3 young but big dogs passing by and everything clicked...i fucking hate people, i wish i had an ap to the backside so i could video tape it and call the police, but the assholes only do it by the night when nobody can see them.
Its always new dogs appearing here and theres nothing we can do, and the worst is that, we dont know how much trauma they have and if they are dangerous because they are big, we have kids going around, we dont know if they will attack. Luckily most dogs are scared and dont go near people, so nothing ever happened.

Wife has a cracked charge door on her 2022 Niro EV. I found a paint matched one on Ebay from the UK and had it shipped to the US cheap. I assumed it was only held on by the 2 torx screws by the hinge, but it appears there are 4 additional screws behind plastic cladding mounting the painted door to some type of hinged part. For the life of me, I can't seem to find how these snap together to expose those 4 screws to remove the current door and reinstall the undamaged one. Any ideas? I outreached to the seller and they were no help. I'm not new to working on cars but am afraid of drawing the ire of my wife on her leased vehicle by making it worse in trying to fix it....

Let me start off by clarifying that this individual is still alive, but they explicitly told me they were ending their friendship with me based on us not having anything in common, me not being ambitious enough, and because I smoke weed. I did not have any say in the matter, nor did I have a chance to defend myself.
A couple weeks ago I was lamenting about the lack of good WFH opportunities for my field, and mentioned how I'd be willing to work in office for a certain type of company IF the benefits were good enough. She went off into a speech about how you just can't be successful working from home, humans being were made to be social, how no one she looks up to works from home. Her timing made me feel like she was throwing shade, and when I expressed that to her she went OFF about how it wasn't about me just a "general statement" but that I could use the socialization because I tend to think things are about me. I genuinely don't know how you're supposed to respond when someone says that to you, so I didn't.
Fast forward a week of silence, I decided to reach out and get my feelings off my chest. I expressed how hurt I was that she'd say those things to me so out of the blue, but she said she felt that "as my friend" she should be able to give me unsolicited criticism, and that if we can't be that way then that's not a friendship she wants. I buckled down on expressing how her words were making me feel and that she didn't need to be so aggressive with her message, but it resulted in: her stating that it isn't healthy how I'm constantly sleeping and smoking weed during work, that she isn't comfortable with "how much I feel the need to be high or drunk" bc she "doesn't imbibe, that she needs to be around more ambitious and driven people, and that she doesn't want to be rude and end the friendship but she just thinks we have nothing in common.
I'm not sure where she got the impression I regularly sleep during work, or spend all my time during work smoking weed and not working, but it's not true, and she never tried to clarify with me or even nicely say that it bothers her. I've never fallen behind in my work, been on probation for performance, or anything of that sort - I may not be next in line for a promotion, but I'm still a recognized top performer on my project team. She never told me that she's no longer drinking/smoking for good (she would previously skip drinking to save money or to lose weight but it was an occasional thing), and she never told me she's uncomfortable around the weed; I had literally NO IDEA she didn't want to be around those things anymore so I never had a change to correct it. In the literal days up to this all starting, I was sending her IG videos related to our various interests like plants and travel, so I have no idea why she thought we have nothing in common. I have no idea what makes me not ambitious in her eyes, but I am planning a wedding, and have no interest in going through the new-hire process at a new job right now when my current job pays me enough and has a great work life balance for me. Ambition doesn't always have to be about work goals in my opinion, you can be driven towards other goals in your life. You can have qualms with your job and still choose to stay because the pros outweigh the cons. I may not socialize with my coworkers, but I take dance classes 3-4 times a week and have several friends I constantly talk to so I think it's unfair to say I don't socialize. She ended the conversation saying that I was acting like a victim and the conversation was no longer constructive and she's leaving the convo, so I left it at that.
I feel confused, because so many of her reasons for ending the friendship were things she had never expressed before or just not true. It felt so much like she was just making excuses to end the friendship for whatever reason, and I can't fathom why she had to go off on me like that instead of simply letting the friendship end. She said she didn't want to ask me to stop smoking weed because she "knows it's a big part of my life" as if I'm physically incapable of seeing her sober. I feel like I've given so much of my time, effort, and care to someone who didn't appreciate it, and probably doesn't see why this hurts me so much. I feel like I spent so much of this post justifying and defending myself, and frankly it's because I feel like I never got the opportunity to do so with this former friend. She chose to see things how she wanted with the limited information she had. How can someone end a friendship and not understand how the other person feels like a victim? How can she not see why all of this would be hurtful to me?
I feel that I'm still the same person I was when we first became friends, but if anything more improved. I smoke the same amount of weed when we first started talking, I have a better job now than I did back then, I have a wider variety of hobbies and interests than I did back then. At the start of the friendship I did run a small online store selling my art, but the effort and time isn't worth the money and I decided I didn't want to deal with customer service lol; last year I considered going to grad school to help my job prospects, but I did research and determined grad school isn't necessary for my field as much as relevant certs (that my current company pays for!) Maybe those were the things that made me ambitious? It feels offensive she'd label me as not ambitious or driven enough to be in her friend group, even though I've always thought myself to be an ambitious person. She loves to talk about work, school, or her career in general, so maybe the fact I didn't enjoy that make me not ambitious? The whole situation just raised a ton of questions and insecurities in myself, and I ultimately lost a person I talked to daily and considered my close friend: it fucking sucks.

my car, my ladybird, my 95 dodge neon, my first car. she was much more than a car to me and i had her all decorated with so many bumper stickers and trinkets from places i travelled and things i liked. i had been decorating her since august. i have taken perfect care of her.
then this friday, i was t boned by a guy going at least 30 over the speed limit down a massive hill as i was making a left turn to go home, 5 minutes from my house.
thankfully, my uncle who’s a mechanic and my great uncle who loves dodge neons said that the parts were cheap and it was fixable, just a control arm issue and a bit of reshaping the metal. it would cost me a lot, but significantly less than a new car or going elsewhere. however because that friday was the start of memorial day weekend, we weren’t able to get a tow truck to tow her to our house till today.
she arrived and was parked in front of my house today at 3:00. then at 4:30, my severely mentally ill and probably demented neighbour who should have had her drivers license taken years ago, backs out of her driveway and crushes my car. in the initial crash she was hit on the side, so only the side was damaged. when she backed into me she crumpled my hood, knocked off my entire front bumper, shattered my radiator, and bent the frame. she’s basically unfixable now.
and my dad is mad at me for “acting like a victim” and having a “shitty attitude” like how else should i react to this? i don’t have the money to fix this? i don’t have money for a new car? and i have a job i need to drive to? he somehow is acting like i wanted to get into a car crash and then have my batshit neighbour total it. yeah. sure.
also polite advice/input are welcome and if you have any recommendations for cheap but good cars in the southeast missouri area/adjacent i’m all ears. ladybird was a great find, 4,000 entirely rebuilt even a brand new coat of paint and only 129 thousand miles on her which for a 28 year old car is incredible.

3/4 members of my family have strep throat. I was the lucky first one diagnosed and while I had a few moments alone at home, realized how much I wouldn't have minded a large drink to numb the soreness in my throat and to numb having to deal with parenting while ill. Even though I knew drinking would just impede my healing process, it seemed like the only way to get through the days.
I've been working my way through it with the help of a brand new soda stream and a bunch of new flavors for the water. I've also been reflecting on how seemingly innocuous things can show up out of nowhere to try to knock you off course just when you think you're on an even keel. Never in a hundred years would I have thought that being sick would get in my head about drinking.

My boyfriend and I have been dating for about a year and a half but just a couple days ago he asked to break up because he didn’t feel the same love he felt for me earlier in our relationship. However, yesterday he texted me paragraphs about how he feels really bad and wants this to just be a break instead of final. For context, he’s said that he doesn’t really like PDA of any kind (including hand holding, hugging, etc.) but hadn’t communicated why until after we broke up (past trauma with ex). The thing was though was that he was fine with all this stuff up until a couple of months ago when he began to shut down around me. He stopped reaching out to me or wanting to be around me in public settings, leaving me feeling like a creep when I had to initiate conversations and encounters twice as often. In the last month I felt like a burden to him and that I was exhausting to talk to. In all honesty I didn’t feel very loved by him and that took a toll on my mental health, making me feel single while still in a relationship. Back to his texts though, he promised that he would work on stuff like communicating why he does or doesn’t like certain things like PDA among other things and hopes that we can bring our relationship back but as much as it hurts me I don’t think you can rekindle love like that and I don’t want to be hurt again. I really liked him and I loved what we had, but the last months have been really hard and I feel like I’ve been carrying the relationship. He suggested that we can try again in a month or so but I’m nervous that it’ll end exactly as it did this time and I’ll be hurt all over again. Does anyone have any advice on this?

I had the best person on this world as my friend. I know that may sound over exaggerated, but it’s true. This person was a big part of my life.
She was a online friend of mine when I met her around the age of 9. I’ve known her for 6 years. She changed my life when she came. No, she wasn’t that type of person where you wouldn’t have to worry about her asking personal questions of some sort. She is the same age as me and I never had to worry about her ever trying to find out where I live or anything. I could tell her anything. Just like how she could tell me anything.
There never was a day where we wouldn’t talk to one another. We would chat either on Wattpad (not anymore, only throughout 2018-2019), Pinterest, Obimy, and Tiktok. We have many socials where we can talk to one another but we mostly used Tiktok. The rest were just for fun. I will also count in on the multiple accounts we had on tiktok that each had us as friends.
I was able to talk to her about anything I wanted. It was actually like we were childhood friends, I like to say that we were. We knew so much about each other that even our own friends or family didn’t know.
She had a habit and interest of making her very own ocs. She was the one that actually got me into making them myself. I could just hear the happiness when she would tell me about the new or old ocs she made through her messages. It was like music to my ears and it never got boring, it never got boring—I wouldn’t let it. We put our ocs into our favorite shows and games. The main two being Danganronpa and Pokemon. It was our own little fantasy and it made us both entertained. It was fun cracking inside jokes about them through videos or pictures we’d find and we would laugh our behinds off. It was amazing. It put us at ease.
Our last project together was during the middle month of March. We decided to make characters and act like they were in our very own video games. It was our imagination that we gladly took advantage of. We were very creative. More inside jokes ranges on throughout the couple months. We updated each other on new scenes coming in with our fake but amazingly video games that we made on gacha club. I know it may be cringy to others or weird in a way but this is where we had fun.
All this imagination ended on May 10th. My mom had just gotten into the house and i went to greet her. I was in the middle of telling my friend about a redesig of an oc she’s been begging me that i bring back. When I came back,she wasn’t there. “Only friends can message each other” I thought this was one of tiktoks funny glitches since that’s what happens to us sometimes but this time it wasn’t a glitch. It was all real. I thought that tiktok was glitching out and I started to message her on her different accounts but she never responded. I tried. I waits for so long. But what hurt me more was that she saw the messages but never replied at all.
I want her to come back. I’ve seen her play roblox but i was far to scared to even join her. I wasn’t able to access her account and I immediately thought that she had blocked me for a strange reason. I thought her parents found out about me somehow and prevented her from talking to me. It hurts. I was to scared to message her because the thought of not knowing who in the world was or is behind her phone scared me. I don’t want to talk to her parents while trying to talk to her. when I did try to talk to her sometimes she would block me and hurt my feelings really bad because I don’t know what I did wrong. At least I don’t think I did something wrong. The funny thing is that she didn’t block me on all her accounts she didn’t block me from all of her accounts despite her, knowing that she had lots of other accounts that I had access to. The very last message was me. He praying that she came back and how I wish her to have the best summer of her life since it was last day of seventh grade it hurt me to my heart. It hurt that I wasn’t able to spend my last year of seventh grade with her. It really really hurt my heart. all I pray is that she comes back. if I’m like a big chunk of my life had just been thrown away into the garbage can when she left. If only I didn’t go greet my mom and stayed on the phone with her while telling her about about the OC that she’s been wanting to know she would’ve been here. She will be in here with me and I wouldn’t be writing this.
I have dreams about her and me playing Roblox. I have dreams of her and me being able to play. I always have those dreams and I longed for those dreams to come true I want her to come back. All I can do is pray, and hope for the best and I hope nothing bad has happened to her. I hope nothing bad has happened to her throughout these these days and weeks , I really hope for the best and I hope that she’s doing all right nowadays I won’t let her go because I love her dearly. She is one of my most prized possessions and she makes me smile every single day.
