2023.03.22 06:23 JimJohnman SIB the Dark Souls series if I hate their quest design?
I've played Elden Ring, Platinumed Bloodborne and Sekiro, and even played a little DS1.
Loved it all. It's the best design I've ever known... But nobody can convince me that Fromsoft quest design isn't utter bullshit. Without a guide, knowing everything beforehand, or spending 100s of hours scouring randomly, you have no chance of finishing most quests.
So, assuming I only play the main quest and don't fuck with the side content whatsoever, is it worth playing DS1, 2, and 3?

2023.03.22 06:18 BkGamingYtIsCool there's a reason why bad people are bad people
I feel like nobody takes me seriously when I talk about this. I've made 2 posts on a different subreddit asking for advice, and 1 other post here venting about it and people have only had a bad reaction.
Pretty much, I've been struggling with urges to harm my cat for 6 months now, and acting on them for a portion of that time. At face value, yes, I am a cat abuser. I'm a horrible person who deserves to be thrown in jail for the rest of my life, and get the living daylights beaten out of me everyday. I should have all of my remaining human rights stripped away, for I am not deserving of them, nor am I worthy of being considered a human. I get it, I get it, I'm the scum of the earth. But really, there is so much more nuance to the situation that it isn't fair to make these distinctions without compassion and understanding. Yes, cat abusers have feelings too, shocker.
As for my past, I haven't had much of a childhood, or at least a very good one. Being forced to leave my home land in the Caribbean because of a natural disaster that destroyed the entire island, separating me from half of my family for over 9 months, wasn't a very good start at 6 years old. Witnessing my brother's abuse which included him being beaten relentlessly and punched to the point he was hospitalized wasn't so great. Same with the guilt of watching my brother's hand be smashed with a hammer, breaking the bones in it, after he begged me to lie for him so he wouldn't get in trouble, and my young self being too conflicted to know what I should do. Same with being beaten, myself, for making the mistake of stealing my mother's credit card to experiment with other forms of money. I wasn't trying to do anything bad, of course, I simply had only used cash to buy things and wanted to learn what that little plastic card could do, but my parents didn't know that, they didn't care to ask me. This same type of thing happened on and on, witnessing threats of abuse, witnessing abuse, being threatened with abuse, being abused, over and over. At some point, when I was 10 years old, my father's untreated bipolar disorder sparked up and he had a manic episode. He was convinced that my mother was doing drugs in their closet and cheating on him, and my parents would fight about this everyday. My mom signed the divorce papers but my dad refused to, and they stayed separated for a while.
This was actually the happiest period of my life, when I would stay over at my dad's apartment on the weekends. I remember when he first took me over there, and immediately asked me how the place smelled. I later learned that this was because my mom went over to the place before my dad picked me up, and commented on the smell, which my dad was eager to fix. I fondly remember sleeping on a queen size bed for the first time, with big fluffy sheets and the most comfortable pillows I've ever layed my head on, copper pillows, I believe. I'd have the fan blowing in my face, and be so incredibly relaxed. My dad would take me to buy all the snacks I wanted with the money he earned from his music studio, and I'd stay up all night, using his MacBook to play Roblox with my online friends, having the best nights of my life. After a while, my dad's manic episode had subsided, and my parents moved back in together, happily cuddling on the couch as we watched my favorite children's television show. All was well, and there was absolutely no abuse in this period. It wasn't as good as being alone with my dad, of course, but it was still way better than my life before.
Sadly, though, good things can't last forever, and my dad soon passed away due to complications with his Sickle Cell disease. I felt absolutely nothing, I cried at his funeral but I was no longer capable of feeling. I stayed in this numb state, struggling with online school, and just getting by. After a little under a year of this, I was struck by grief. I just broke down, so incredibly sad, mad, disappointed, every negative emotion I could feel towards his death. The sound ringed in my ears of people at his funeral saying "This is all part of God's plan", "Everything happens for a reason", as I clawed my hair out trying to think, "why? what was the reason?", "why would god do this to me?". It was so intense, I couldn't handle the pain of thinking about it everyday and slept as much as I could to make it stop. When even that didn't work, I tried to go to sleep again, but permanently this time. That still didn't work, and I didn't know what to do other than just continuing my suffering. I was trying my best to keep going, to make it until the end of the year, or at least until my birthday, but that didn't help. On my 11th birthday, I was in the stage of trying to stand up for myself, and I really didn't feel like going out for my birthday, so we rescheduled for the next week. That next week made a horrible day for me, in a way I didn't expect. I was feeling okay enough to go, and started to get ready. My mom wasn't very happy with me though, as she saw the outfit I had prepared. "Go change that hoodie", she said, "It has stains on it". I didn't know what else I should wear and asked why I couldn't just keep the hoodie on. "You look like a homeless person", she began screaming, "You're embarrassing me! People are going to think I'm a bad mom!". At this point I began crying, in pain at the fact that she would think of me as an embarrassment. It shouldn't have surprised me, really, when in the past she had threatened to ship me off to Mexico for not having good enough grades, and threatened to put me in foster care because she disliked the green polo shirt I wanted to wear. It still hurt, though, it always hurts, and I can never get used to the pain. Through the sobs, my heart and mind were racing to find a solution. Find a new shirt, keep defending my current attire, or just give up. I tried the first two options but nothing seemed to work, I couldn't make her happy, so I gave up. She stormed away, frustrated at my response, and I handed her something I soon discovered to be the final straw. "I don't want to go anymore", I said, deciding to be honest with her and myself, and stand my ground as a brand new tween. But it was a mistake, because it only unleashed a slur of yelling and screaming and shouting, as she stormed off to her bedroom. She'd done this quite often before, but this time, she reunited me with an old enemy, the belt. I was still being hit after my dad died, but usually that'd be a slap or punch to the mouth. Not this time, however. She furiously hit me with the belt, over and over and over, as I cried "I just wanted to be comfortable". All of our arguments over clothing have surrounded this, the fact that I want to be comfortable in what I wear and in my own body, but seemingly, my mom wasn't a big fan of that. She then began dragging me across the house, yelling and choking me, saying she wants to cut me and plaster me to the wall, and, of course, put me in foster care, because I'm such a worthless piece of trash that she doesn't deserve the burden of being my parent. My mom brought up this event a few times afterwards, but she seems to have forgotten the details that are now ingrained in my brain, as she sees it as a funny little thing that happened on my birthday, and not as the event that has made tears pour out of me for nights on end, wondering what I did to deserve this treatment.
Anyways, this goes to say that my past has not been good. The history of mental illness in my family has caused a myriad of problems for me, including the cat abuse. You may think "But that's not an excuse!", one thing I've been told before is that "Your mental illness is not your fault, but it is your responsibility". Okay, so I'm still a horrible person for abusing my cat, understood. But throughout my childhood, or lack thereof, I've only been taught that the proper reaction to something you don't like is violence. Cats scratch and bite, which is painful, which I don't like. I feel as though I've been in enough pain at this point, and I won't tolerate some stupid feline adding to that. So, I'd get really angry when my cat would bite me, and I'd try to avoid hitting him, but nothing really worked. I asked and people suggested giving away the cat, which wasn't an option, or staying away from it, which also wasn't an option, as I still wanted to have a good relationship with the cat despite this setback. The urges didn't stop and my cat wouldn't stop biting me, so I gave in. I started hitting him when he bit me to make him stop, but it didn't work. No matter what I did, I couldn't get this cat to stop hurting me. That was, until one day, when I beat him so badly that he released his bladder out of fear on my living room floor. Since then, I would just beat him whenever he upset me to make him stop, and it'd work. Sometimes, anyway. When he just wouldn't cooperate, I'd take him somewhere private, like a bathroom, and beat him until he'd emptied his bladder and/or bowels as a result of my punishments. All I'd wanted was to not be hurt by the little animal that's supposed to look up to me. The abuse is what gave me that. I used it as a coping mechanism, recreating my abuse and taking back control. I'd also get quite a few marks on my hands and arms after our session, that served as a visible form of the pain I endured, making me feel less invisible.
So no, while it isn't an excuse for what I've done, I wish people would look at my situation with more compassion and understanding about the things that lead someone to do this. I would love to be diagnosed with whatever's wrong with me and receive treatment and therapy and medication and whatever I need to stop doing this, but I'd only be able to access that by admitting to what I've done, which just isn't an option for me. As of now, I am 13 years old, and the responsibilities of dealing with my mental illness are too much for a kid like me to handle alone, so I just wish people were more understanding.

2023.03.22 06:17 ScaryRezzy Is the Arc A770 a worthy upgrade from a 1080?
Title says it. Currently I've got a 1080 in my pc, and have for the last couple of years. I kinda want something ray-tracing compatible and I was wondering if the A770 was worth it.
The games I mainly play are Warframe, Rainbow 6 Siege, Baldur's Gate 3, Elden Ring, League, and Valorant, as well as a few SteamVR games.
Would the A770 have noticeably better performance?

2023.03.22 06:15 Electrickoolaid_Is_L Is Elden Ring significantly easier now than at launch?
I have not beaten Elden ring yet, and started playing a couple months ago been taking my sweet time to finish the game. For current information my character is level 90, 40 vig, 50 strength, 20+ Guts great-sword with lion claw. Just beat Crucible duo fight second try, with no spirit summons. After getting my build together no fight has taken more than 10 tries. Which is odd since other soulsborne have has had me on bosses for hours.
While my build is admittedly over tuned right now, I don’t think I have played much of the game over leveled in terms of weapons or stats. I try to limit guides and never look up boss strats. I have also tried numerous builds but settled on the sweaty gamer melee only.
My question is after hearing so much about this game online being stupid hard for melee only no summons builds, it has been ludicrously easy compared to my recent blood-borne replay. Did the game just get easier for melee only with patches? because the online community made it out in the beginning that melee only was neigh impossible.
Im not sitting here trying to claim I am some gamer god, since I’m still getting my ass handed to me in bloodborne. Just find the dichotomy between the games release and now interesting.

2023.03.22 06:11 magnemattix Kidnapping goes wrong in the most chaotic way possible
Hey fellow crablings, and hopefully CritCrab if you’re reading this! I wanna start off by saying this isn’t a horror story, but more of just a chaotic session in general. Also I’m writing this after the session just ended, but this session has been the best, most unhinged gameplay I’ve ever witnessed.
It all starts with getting into this homebrew campaign of magical girls, think of sailor moon like, a few months ago at my college. We’ve only had a few sessions due to some scheduling issues but so far it’s been such a blast to see our little group band together and have some fun.
I guess I should also say the player characters of this story as well to make things easier, but there’s:
-Rover(me, a halfling bard who is a pacifist) -Ken(a human cleric turned woman due to a magical mishap) -Amelie(a human Druid) -Silkie(a cat Druid that can take the form of a tabaxi)
Well, after we’ve had some fun and adventures in this magical city parallel to the human realm, we get some information related to the backstory of two of our party members and with it a quest to kidnap the leader of a criminal organization. We all spent the next hour joking around and planning the kidnapping given the intel of someone on the inside. The leader, a small child who stayed young using a magical elixir, was to head to the bathrooms on the second floor to take her medicine, being guarded by her 7’5” Goliath body guard. I joked that I would distract her in a “meet cute” kind of way as my party snuck in and took out the leader. But, then the cleric found out he has a ceremony spell of some sort that allows for marriage between two willing creatures, and so a new plan was put into action.
THE PLAN
Amelie, using some stealth would use create water on top of the guard drenching her dress, and Rover, dressed as a server, would run to her aid and help her get dried up and dressed in a wedding dress that we had stashed beforehand. All the while I had Ken enhance ability my charisma checks so I could ensure I could rizz up this guard and lead her away from our real target.
(A little background about my character before I continue. Rover is heavily inspired by Wander from the Disney cartoon show Wander over Yonder, and thus he is influenced from many aspects of his life. He’s a pacifist, friendly, do-gooder, with a heart of gold. He always sees the best in people and will always do what he needs to help, even in bizarre situations(like marrying a random guard). He is also insanely good at Persuasion and Deception due to him being a College of Eloquence bard, so at this time the lowest possible check of those two would be a 17, so he could always put his friendly aura into good use. Anyways, back to the story…)
After Rover, Ken, and the guard go to a separate room away from the party and guests, the other two, Silkie and Amelie are to incapacitate and sneak out the leader from the bathroom and out to the balcony, where they have flying brooms waiting to fly them out to our hideout. All the while Rover gets married to the guard, with help from our cleric.
THE KIDNAPPING
So we all arrive to this mansion in the summoned car from our cleric, and enter being checked by the guards(one of which is undercover). Rover begins to work as a server on the second floor, as the two druids sneak around and the cleric goes to my aid with the guard. A few persuasion checks later, and with a dress and a ring I get married to this guard. And as we kiss, she reveals some startling information…
SHES PRETENDING TO BE THE GUARD, AND IS ACTUALLY THE LEADER OF THE CRIMINAL ENTERPRISE!
(Although as we are married she does explain that she hates her family and wants to run away with me, so I’m hoping this is a story of redemption and Rover can be by her side, married or not, he won’t let her down.)
And that’s where the session ended, and the whole party freaked out to this realization, but only half our party actually knows this in game as the two druids are working on what they assume to still be the plan with kidnapping the other woman. We also don’t meet up for another week, but if there’s anything else to update on, I’ll let y’all know!
TLDR: Our party sets a plan for my character to marry someone as a distraction so they can kidnap the leader of a criminal syndicate, but ends up marrying the leader on accident.

Just storage for a lot of games.
Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
Just a case that will be able to fit everything. A black case with a window and LED is fine.
Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?
Yes.
*I was looking at a 3060 ti but am unsure about the cpu. I don’t know if Intel or AMD would be better long term for the sockets and upgrading. Also what would be a good monitor to pair up with?

2023.03.22 06:01 julylifecoach Side effects of side dish challenge
| In my eBook I make the claim that if you're struggling to get ANY work done, the side dish challenge is an excellent way to get the momentum started. The setup is simple: you have a task you want to get done but you get distracted and procrastinate. So I advise you to flip that around and make the distracting activity your main focus, and make your desired task a side focus. I've had a lot of people try to counter this argument with me, so I want to go over some of them. For your information, what I call main dish in the paragraphs below is things like watching netflix or waiting or playing video games; what I call the side dish is the activity you want to stop procrastinating on. I'd just have no problem committing to the main dish If you're distracted by watching The Office for the nth time, I'd tell you to make it your task to finish the entire series from start to finish by next week. A common reply I hear to this is, then I'd actually watch it and get nothing done. This tells me you didn't completely understand the direction, and that you don't actually want to do the thing you're procrastinating on. The direction is to make it your MAIN FOCUS, and to have a SIDE FOCUS at the same time. I guarantee you that you'd be looking at your phone while watching the office or eating something; those are what I call side focuses, and that opportunity is when I want you to start doing the thing. If it's homework, instead of looking up the story behind how the actors were having trouble filming that particular scene on your homework - just gaze at your homework and try to answer one question. Now, if you understand this and yet you're genuinely glued to the screen and not doing anything on the side - this just lets you know how much you need entertainment in your life at this time. Your brain has put being entertained at an exceptionally high place in your priority list, and if that's what your brain wants to do I want you to honor it. And ask yourself if you really want to, or need to do the thing you're procrastinating on. After some evaluation if it's not something you genuinely want to do, you can just forget about it! I lose track of time This is something I see in neurodivergent clients, when they completely get in the zone and can't be bothered by anything. Neurodivergence doesn't have to be a stopping factor in anything; you just need to cooperate with your brain when it comes to getting things done. So this is when I would recommend introducing physical interruptions into your life, such as alarm clocks or scheduled notifications. Hyperfocus or not, when our primitive brain is at the driving wheel we become a subject of our brains rather than us using our brain. The best way to balance a hyperactive primitive brain is to start introducing more of the prefrontal cortex in your life. Prefrontal cortex is the executive command center of your brain so it deals with making decisions, creative problem solving, and future planning. If you have a tendency to hyperfocus on the main dish, then I'd recommend planning your days ahead to give your brain a break from your hyperfocus. Another thing I advise to hyperfocusing people is think about what aspect of your hyperfocusing activity draws you in so much. Try to define that addicting factor as much as possible, and try to apply that to your side dish. As long as you keep looking, you're going to find a way for the side dish to be attractive. Something I want to emphasize: there is nothing wrong with your brain going to hyperfocus or being neurodivergent in general. If you WANT to do other things but you just find yourself defaulting to your hyperfocusing and you want to change that, my recommendations stand but I am in no way saying that you need to fix your brain because again, there is nothing wrong with it! I procrastinate on both the main and the side What this actually means is that you've treated both as the main dish. It's like having a steak and a burrito. Both are too much to have at the same time. You need to have salad with your steak and salsa with your burrito. For example if you're trying to watch all Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and the Infinity Saga of Marvel movies in one week while trying to finish your dissertation you're going to have a bad time on both. You want to consider downsizing the movie watching to one franchise while writing a few paragraphs of the dissertation. Me eating a balanced meal Your brain hates big ticket items unless it's drawn to it. Take advantage of your brain's tendency to multitask as much as possible by giving yourself a big ticket main dish so that it WANTS to get some bites out of the accessible side dish. Have fun! P.S. Here's a video on this if that's more of your jam. submitted by julylifecoach to u/julylifecoach [link] [comments] |
2023.03.22 05:49 LaDev Car Break-in, surprisingly amazing outcome
This past Saturday I had been working on my soon to be new home, and after a long day of labor I got home and immediately collapsed and went to bed. I live right outside of Wilmington Delaware, in a condo complex with a C- in crime score. Not particularly bad, not too good either. A convenient location right off the highway to get to the majority of east coast cities.
Sunday morning I woke up, took a shower, and then gunned for the door to go back to work on the house. I gave my wife and daughter a kiss goodbye, grabbed my phone, keys and wallet, and leave. As I’m approaching my car in the parking area I notice my door is slightly open… not a great sign. I opened the door and noticed my glove box and center console have been completely ransacked. Paperwork I had just gotten two days prior now laid dormant on the floor of the driver and passenger seat. I had also forgotten my day bag in the back seat.
It happened, my car had been robbed. Typically I’m great about locking my car door, Saturday night though, I suppose I missed a critical step in ensuring the safety of the contents of my car.
This is an important time in my life right now, I’m in the middle of a house purchase, work is going crazy, and my second kid will be here in two months. I brushed it off, told my wife what happened, and drove to the house I’m working on. During my drive I gave the Non-Emergency line a call. The gentlemen who answered was very kind.
He collected important information and asked for my location. I let him know that I was on the road and that it would be a few hours before I returned home. He asked that I gave the non-emergency line a call back when I’m home so they could send an officer out. Ugh. Now, in my life I haven’t had the best experience with police. Nothing directly involving me, but lots of second hand interaction and stories from family, so I was naturally inclined to assume the local police wouldn’t be useful. Admittedly, I wrote the entire situation as a loss, I felt hopeless.
Over the next few hours I took mental inventory of what was missing. Originally I had only thought that change and a Bluetooth speaker were missing, some of which was in my center console and others in the bag that was in my back seat. I began to fully remember what I had lost: An Android cellphone, an Apple iPhone, Bluetooth Speaker, home purchase paperwork, $10 in cash, and a few other things.
At this point I was mostly nervous about the iPhone, as it was a backup iPhone 12 I got some time ago which had all my Apple Wallet cards on it. Once I realized I logged into Find my IPhone and activated lost mode on the iPhone. I figured the best case scenario would be to ensure my data was protected. The evening settles in, I’ve accepted defeat, and head to bed.
This morning I clock on for work, and as I’m sitting in a work meeting I get a pestering notification on my phone. Lost iPhone has been turned on. I immediately open Find My iPhone to see the device had checked in, but then immediately was turned off. I was frustrated… not only did this person steal my property, they rubbed it in by trying to further use the device they stole.
Only for a moment however I was frustrated. I further read the information on my phone screen and a smile went from ear to ear. That minute or two the phone was turned on was long enough for the iPhone to pick up an address.
I was motivated at this point. I didn’t know what would happen, but I figured hey, what the hell, let’s give the non-emergency line a ring again. I called in, gave them a recap. They collected my information and let me know I should hear back soon. At this point I half expected the officer to tell me too much time had passed for anything to be done… but boy was I totally wrong.
Officer Thomas gave me a call and let me know that he was outside of my condo. He asked for a recap of the situation, what was taken, and if I had any additional information. I shared the Find my IPhone information. Officer Thomas had another officer come along to swab for DNA and collect finger prints off of my car - I was stunlocked! He then let me know that he was filing a warrant for the address listed on my Find my iPhone. I’m not sure what I thought would happen, but given what I was always taught, and believed, I thought I would have eaten dust.
After about an hour or two Officer Thomas and the officer taking DNA and finger prints finished up with me. I made more assumptions… I’m sure nothing will come of it, this is probably the last I’ll hear of it. Officer Thomas then proceed to send me several texts over the next few hours, he wants pictures of the Bluetooth Speaker, Pictures of my Bag, Cell Phone Serial Number, and various credible bits of information.
I scour my iPhone photos going years back finding the best pictures I possibly could for the items stolen. I sent some blurry and dark photos that I had taken, and then also some screenshots from Walmart and Amazon listings for the original items.
Again, I made assumption. I assumed he was just doing his typical paper work for his reports. Mind you, hours earlier I had also filed with my insurance regarding the situation, so at the minimum I was happy to have a police report for my claim.
A few hours pass and I get a missed call from Officer Thomas… I was playing video games and had my headphones up pretty loud. He took the time to text me however and let me know that they had recovered a phone, but it was smashed, and asked if I could send over the devices IMEI.
I sent the information, this time assuming that if they did actually goto the persons house there would be no way they were silly enough to leave a stolen phone right there.
A few hours later go by again, I received a call, and a third officer lets me know that he’s outside and that he’d like me to come out. I step outside and he lets me know that he believe he has my property. Officer Thomas was working overtime to get everything settled today so this officer was stepping in to help get everything tied up so he could go home. I was shocked. Jaw on the ground floored.
The iPhone was taken for evidence. I’m guessing the thief immediately smashed the iPhone once they realized it was out in lost mode. I got everything else back besides the few dollars of cash I had in the glove box.
The entire time I made assumptions against the police. Assumed they wouldn’t help, or weren’t able to. I was wrong every step of the way. Not only did New Castle Police impress me, but Officer Thomas was a godsend.
I cannot say how immensely shocked I am even now. I’m not sure what happened with the person who stole my items and broke into my car. I’d assume it’s more then a ticket, but I’ll have to find out next time I speak with Officer Thomas.
I just wanted to share my story. It may be benign to some, but it was a truly eye opening experience for me. These guys showed me they care about their jobs and their community.

2023.03.22 05:48 LardOfCinder [TOMT] [Miscellaneous] I have an item in a video game named "Sweet Sassy Molassey"
Furthermore, it has a description that says "Best swivel that head back round less you're prepared to suckle on my iron teat." I did not name/describe it myself, and have had it for years. BUT, something about it rings something in my head. Any idea what this is referencing?

2023.03.22 05:48 ComfortableRock90 Looking for unique co-op games
What I'm looking for
- Unique co-op games where you have specific roles to play and not just run around doing your own thing. A decent example of this is Deep rock galactic but even that game doesn't have too much depth in its implementation of classes.
- Decent graphics. 3D preferred. 2D is okay as long as the art is detailed and NOT pixelated (think hollow kinght, Barotrauma, etc.)
- Games like Resident Evil 5/6 where there is enough uniqueness to different areas/bosses to keep you engaged while playing a story co-op (as opposed to Borderlands with spongy/similar enemies or remnant from the ashes with repeated scripts)
What I'm NOT looking for
- Top-down, Isometric games
- Cartoony grapchis
- Pixelated art
- horror
- Horde-based games
- Card games
- Grindy games (BIG NO!)
Games I've heard about, already played, NOT looking for
- Deep Rock Galactic (a lot of great ideas. Got bored of pooslow progression and certain grind mechanics. Also cartoony graphics and dark caves are not visually appealing)
- Vermintide 2 (old/sluggish. horde)
- Left 4 Dead 2 (old/sluggish. horde)
- Payday 2 (old/sluggish)
- Divinity Original Sin 2 (Isometric)
- We Were Here series (they were okay. Not deep. Too many bugs. Same-y after a short time)
- Outward
- Terraria
- Valheim
- Elden Ring, Monster Hunter, Remnant: From the ashes, etc.
- Factorio, Satisfactory
- PlateUp (why bring real life work into a game?! Zzzzz)
- Don't Starve Together (Game is fine on peaceful but community is too hardcore. survival/starving aspect sucks)
- Minecraft
- 7 Days to Die, DayZ, Back4Blood, insert zombie game here
- The forest, Green Hell
- Vrising, Baldur's Gate
- A Way Out, It Takes Two
- Seas of Theives
- Raft
Possible contenders (Listing to avoid duplicate suggestions but detailed input is appreciated)
- Barotrauma (Waiting for deeper sale. Too expensive for an indie game)
- Grounded (Hesitant due to cartoony graphics and possibly childish gameplay)

2023.03.22 05:40 Samalva31 Dark Souls 1 & 3 crash, but not 2 (go figure, kick me when im down)
Hi. Hoping that someone might help me if you've encountered something like this: I have the Series X and purchased the trilogy on disc, brand new. When I boot up DS1 or 3 it starts having weird little visual glitches in the character creation menu and then back to the home screen we go with no explanation! It doesn't happen with DS2, Elden Ring or other games like the Mass Effect Trilogy, Halo MCC, RE Village or even the great grandpa that is Gears of War 3. Played the trilogy countless times on PC but recently switched to console and only physical copies. I was feeling like playing a run of 1, 2, 3 and ER with Moonlight Greatsword build but fuck me I guess, unless someone can help. As for solutions checked and cleaned the disc, reinstalled the games, reseted the console both keeping and deleting ganes, power is on energy saver, not sleep; console and controller are up to date and deleted saved profile data. I have yet to try with a new profile cause it seems like a pain to create a new email (only have one) for this or external hard drive cause it's something like 250 € from what I understand. Helo me guys, you're my only hope!

2023.03.22 05:27 nenya94 Weapons to get before starting new game+
So I finally beat Elden ring and have been working on getting the last few talisman/incantations I was missing before starting new game+. I went through Elden Ring wikis new game+ guide and have completed everything on the checklist besides farming weapons. What are some must have weapons to get before restarting? This play though I was an intelligence build but I just did a respec to a dex/arcane build and want to make sure I don’t miss out on any must have weapons for this build! Currently for my dex/arcane build I’m duel wielding ROB and Uchigatana. I know ROB is OP and gets shit on but I’m having WAY to much fun using it. I completed every main boss so I have all of the remembrance weapons already and I also have all of the legendary armaments and all npc invader weapons. I have not farmed a lot of the rare drop armaments and was wondering if there are any that are highly recommended to farm before starting new game+. I just want to make sure I’m not gonna kick myself later for not farming a certain weapon before re starting. Or if anyone has any recommendations not weapon related before restarting please share, I’m just a gal trying not to have regrets in new game+ lol.

2023.03.22 05:24 lowkey_add1ct Some thoughts about this game, coming from dark souls
Alright so I actually learned about this game and played it for the first time before playing from soft games, but it was too hard for me and I couldn’t get into it (at the time my favorite game was Skyrim). I have played (in order) elden ring, ds3, sekiro, dsr, and bloodborne, and decided to give mortal shell another try because it seemed like a really cool/unique souls-like. I want to preface this by saying I’m not trying to say this game is better or worse than other souls-like games, and I love mortal shell and I love fromsoft.
I really enjoyed how different the progression was in this game. Coming from dark souls, etc. where the leveling is pretty much the same in most of those games (except sekiro), this was a really cool concept to me. Idk if other games have similar stuff bc I’ve really only played Skyrim and Minecraft a lot previous to getting into souls-like games.
I really liked the parry mechanic and the variety that there is with the different riposte abilities. The parry timings definitely felt weird at first but that’s just because I was used to dark souls or sekiro parry timings. The parry was always much earlier than I thought it would be.
I just started NG+ and have not really looked into the DLC outside of getting the shell from it, but so far NG+ seems to be much more fun than in dark souls, etc. Because of the different shells and different weapons I don’t really feel too overpowered which was the issue for me in dark souls and led to it being very boring and I would abandon it quickly. Because there are different shells and different playstyles with them, NG+ feels a lot more fresh to me. Maybe it’s the novelty bias but either way I’m enjoying it for now.
I also really like how this game seems to be more focused on pve. What I mean by this is that it is harder to ignore enemies and it feels like you are really supposed to clear each dungeon fully, and it never feels like a chore to do so. In fromsoft games I would often run past most enemies because I just didn’t see an incentive for fighting them. Also the ability that eredrim had with the damage buff made fighting those enemies feel more rewarding.
I also really liked exploring the areas in this game. Yes, they were small in comparison to the other games I have mentioned, but it really felt concise in a good way. Everything that was in each dungeon felt interesting and new and engaging.
One thing I will note is that I completely missed all of the glands until I did some research into how to unlock the frog chests. I had beat most of the bosses but I didn’t have any glands. Probably just oversight on my part bc I don’t pay attention to tutorials very well in games.
The bosses didn’t really blow me away personally. They weren’t bad or anything, they just didn’t stand out to me the way the bosses did in a game like ds3. Maybe they will grow on me when I play the game more, idk. I also worry that I may have been slightly overpowered. I used eredrim and the hammer and chisel for the first playthrough, and that playstyle made some things a bit easy because of his abilities. I still had fun and I died plenty, but I think my opinions will change when I try all of the shells and the dlc.
The graphics of this game really blow the other games I’ve mentioned away. Everything just looks so cool. The dungeon right after the eredrim shell in particular looked really interesting to me with the ray tracing on the black pillars and the floating stuff everywhere. I was also very far from sober when I played that part tho lol (and as I’m writing this).
I really liked the level design and the hidden stuff that could be found. It didn’t feel too hard to find things which I liked. In games like elden ring I really needed to look stuff up to find what I was looking for, but apart from the frog chests and one of the weapon ability things I was able to enjoy playing blind which I really prefer.
This game was really short but I really enjoyed all of it. The mechanics felt very fresh to me and the graphics were kinda amazing. It felt like there was a focus on quality over quantity which I really loved. I will say I almost never used the harden mechanic but I also don’t really use shields in most games I play.
Overall I really liked this game and I’m looking forward to playing it more. Sorry if a lot of people have made similar comparisons already, I just wanted to share my experience with the game. It definitely isn’t a perfect game and feels a bit unfinished, but I think anyone who is a fan of souls type games should definitely give this one a try. Not really sure why I’m making this post and it’s kinda rambly , but if you read all of it or even just some of it, thanks for taking the time to do so.
Edit: forgot to add, I really hated the lack of healing items (besides the mushrooms) in the beginning of the game, but as I kept playing I realized it’s really fitting and the parry mechanic really makes up for that.

2023.03.22 05:24 nukeface7 Just beat the game and wanna share my opinions
I just wanna tell people who may or may not care, so if u wanna hear what I thought of the game keep reading I guess. Sorry for the unorganized post. Also if u want ask me questions about my opinions on specific bosses/ areas.
I just finished the game and the DLC after about a week or two of playing. I’ve played and beat DS1, DS3, Sekiro and kinda sorta Elden ring(I literally played to the final boss and didn’t have time to finish it)and now this game. I think have it experienced the other games I already have the dodge spidy sense ingrained in my brain, so most bosses only took me 1-3 tries (except for Orphan which took me about 8).I used the pimp cane as my starting weapon and played as the profession that most fits me (waste of skin), and smacked some bitches around with that cane until I found the beast saif after beating Micolash. I went for a skill based build so I did very good damage with it.
I think my favorite bosses were Orphan of Kos , Ludwig, Gerhman, and mommy Maria. So basically all the dlc bosses, but specifically orphan due to him being the hardest for me. The “story” I was very confusing to me and I still don’t really get what happened most of it, or why I killed a baby but it doesn’t bother me that much since for me at least that’s typical when I’m playing from soft games. Overall I think the main game bosses weren’t as great as the other games main bosses, but it more than made up with it with the atmosphere it had in all the unique areas. I’m also in love with lovecraftian horror which makes me very bias. The level design was also very impressive and seemed almost as well made as the interconnected levels in DS1. The combat is probably my favorite in the series, other than sekiro. In conclusion I think it’s probably one of fromsofts best games(that I’ve played) and it’s one I plan on trying to learn the more of now that I’ve finished.

2023.03.22 05:21 QuimMaster 29 [M4F] UK/Anywhere, Goths inquire within
I'm Elliot, 29 year old British man, specifically Welsh if it matters. White, six foot tall, spare tire, glasses and brown hair. What's your name?
My friends would describe me as a funny person who can get himself out of situations with a funny comment and a big smirk.
I absolutely love movies, old black and white classics to new theme park like blockbusters. It would be perfect to find another movie lover to share a tub of popcorn.
A good TV show with a cup of hot chocolate is the best. Currently watching the Last of Us as it comes out.
Love going to watch stand up comedy, also watch it at home. Some of my favourites being; Norm Macdonald, Joey Diaz, Ronny Chieng, Dave Chappelle Jimmy Carr...
I'll listen to anything; old school punk like Patti Smith or Sham 69, things like Radiohead, Iron Maiden and Tyler the Creator. Maybe playlist swap?
I used to read a book a month but I'm finding it harder to keep at it. I wear tinted pink glasses due to my dyslexia but I'm currently trying to read Lord of the Rings.
I do some Painting, Sketching and 3D modelling for fun. I did Video Game Art in university. If you're lucky I'll draw a picture of you.
I have two cacti, one for 8 years and a new one I got this year. I would love pets but my landlord doesn't allow them...
I'm looking for somebody who will watch movies with me and be my inspiration to get out of bed in the morning.

2023.03.22 05:13 Azura675r Issues with Corsair dominator platinum ram..
Using asus ROG Strix z690 gaming wifi motherboard and (x4,32gb) 128GB 5200mhz Corsair dominator platinum DDR5
I’m having an issue where sometimes my RAM will stop sending signals to ICUE, when this happens I don’t notice performance issues (other than crashing with XMP, see paragraph below), however I see no voltage and no temp monitors for the ram. Restarting icue and icue service does nothing. When I restart the machine, it doesn’t boot, will show error code 55 on my motherboard (which I believe means no ram signal) If I shut it down and boot up, it boots normally.
Possibly unrelated but I’ve been having issues with games freezing then crashing randomly. (elden ring, BF 2042, rarely Hogwarts) disabling my XMP profile seems to have fixed this problem (which notably clocks my ram from 4800-5200mhz) could this be a symptom of the issue above?
I recently upgraded motherboard ram and CPU, when I installed the ram I put them in, realized I needed to move things around, took them out and it’s possible I mixed up the sticks. They are all the same however before I had seated the pairs together (as I bought 2 packs of 32x2) now it’s possible they are mixed. Does this matter at all? And if so is there a way to match them back (matching batch numbers etc?)
I’m puzzled for now as to what is causing this

2023.03.22 05:10 HotCheetoooooooooo Games like God of War?
Hello everyone!
So I just finished God of War: Ragnarok.
I was wondering if there was any more games like this? I don’t have much knowledge on games, and just play when I have free time. I love to dive into games with a great story, I love customization and upgrading gear and skills, I love open world stuff and mostly boss fights, Oh man I absolutely enjoy those so much!
Anyway, what do you guys recommend? Please, feel free to make your own suggestions. Someone has already told me “Elden Ring”, But I guess I would like more recommendations!
Thank you in advance!
