Overflowing gutters flood basements, damage the foundation while stagnant water invites pests and algae. Addressing these issues can cost you hundreds or thousands of dollars. A better way to keep these issues away is to clean your gutter regularly. Here are the different ways of cleaning gutters. Not all these methods are created equal. While some are slower and safer, others are messier and more fun! 6 Best Ways to Clean Your Gutters Shop Vac – The Shop-Vac® comes with many attachments that make it easy for you to reach clogged portions and vacuum out gutter gunk from the ground. Stubborn dirt may need a spray of water before it is vacuumed. Clean by hand – You will need work gloves, a bucket, a ladder, a garden trowel or a gutter scoop. Just scoop out debris and place it in the bucket. Flush the downspout and gutter with water to make sure it is functioning properly. Hose out – Gutters that are not completely clogged can be cleaned easily with a garden hose. Make sure you have the right attachment for the hose such as a curved end on a rigid tube that allows you to work from the ground. Pressure Wash – A pressure washer can also be used from the ground to get rid of gutter debris. Telescoping wand and cleaning attachments allow you to reach inside and around the gutter to efficiently remove debris. Look Method – This is a remote-controlled robotic device that cleans the gutter when placed inside it. The robot’s cleaning tool moves on its rubberized tracks to break up clogs and debris with an augur that has spinning blades in the front. Blower Method – A leaf blower with a nozzle attachment is ideal for gutter cleaning as it releases a thin stream of air. You will need a ladder to use this tool to blow out clogs as you go. For complicated rooflines or severely blocked gutters, calling a professional is highly recommended. Gutter cleaning professionals have the right tools and equipment that ensure the process is safe, fast, and effective. Whether weekly or monthly, gutter cleaning and maintenance is important. So check out the locations of gutter maintenance services in Portland, So that your gutter stays fresh and usable forever. submitted by royalgutters to u/royalgutters [link] [comments] |
2023.03.22 06:11 vomitfrog PROJECT CAPSULE MONSTERS All Feedback Appreciated!
PROJECT CAPSULE MONSTERS
This project aims to modernize the Alpha and Beta Pokémon designs with guidance from the official renders. The first generation of Pokémon will be redesigned to better resemble their beta sprites, concept art, and conceptual origin, all while using more modern Pokémon design principals: Starter Themes, Readable Silhouettes, Shape Language, Ecological Roles, etc.[NO DESIGN IS FINAL]
Capsule Monster #001 With that, I've run into a problem regarding both
Butterfree, and
Marowak. In the final designs, it looks like Butterfree and Venomoth switched places (Though there's no proof in the code that I could find). A similar issue arises with Marowak, who's beta sprites show that it was originally likely to evolve into Kangaskhan, even though Kangaskhan and the mother Marowak coexisted for a time.
Should I revert these Pokémon to their original roles? In addition, I've downsized the
Type Chart to
15 (the original number of types) by merging redundancies, and overlapping themes from the modern games. I'm trying to stay true to each types respective role, though it seems I may have made them rather unbalanced.
Type Chart Notes:-
Rock &
Ground were fused into
Earth,
though I'm not sure how I feel about the name.-
Dark and
Ghost were fused due to their identical effectiveness', now named
Shadow as an homage to Pokémon Colosseum.-
Water &
Ice were fused to make better element symmetry between the Dragon resistances, and the Legendary trios of generations 1 & 2.-
Psychic was renamed to
Mystic to better portray the Mysticism concept it represents in later generations i.e. cosmic beings, psychics, and things beyond human understanding.-
Steel was changed to
Metal for type inclusivity, the name coming from Steel type moves like Metal Burst, and items like the Metal Coat.-
Poison was originally changed to Toxin for type inclusivity, though changed again to mimic the Poison type move,
Toxic. (It also sounds better phonetically)-
Bug was changed for type inclusivity, giving arachnids better place in their type as
Pest.-
Grass was changed for type inclusivity, now named after its TCG counterpart:
Plant.-
Fighting was changed for naming redundancy, as all Pokémon fight, now referred to with a more tactical term that takes from the Fighting type move, Close
Combat. (
Not sure how I feel about that name either)
Please offer any feedback you can. Any and all criticisms, or answers to the questions are appreciated. Capsule Monsters Type Chart TLDR: In a project that blends Capsule Monsters & Pokémon, how should Butterfree and Marowak be handled given their intended roles? Additionally, how should this revised Type Chart be tweaked for gameplay and sensibility?

2023.03.22 06:06 MoreScholar6521 Landlord is finally bringing in “pros”who I have serious doubts are legit / licensed exterminators. They’re only doing gel. When we hired our own exterminator in 2021, he first sprayed the house then came back a few weeks later to put down gel. Is it common for a pro to simply put down gel?
Help! I live in a rental apartment in NYC. My landlord has been beyond dismissive.
I’m fed up, have spent over $1000 of our own money trying to exterminate our German roach infestation since 2020. I’ve been incredibly sick from the pests (already has asthma and other allergies / respirator problems). Finally someone is being brought in through my landlord. According to the landlord, the exterminator says they’re water bugs.
Incredibly annoying (either they’re dumb or think I am) because I have absolutely no doubt they’re German roaches. I’ve seen the nymphs and also dozens of adult males (light brown, wings, smaller than typical American roaches and of course the two dark stripes) in the last week alone. I do not trust this exterminator off the bat. Water bugs my ass. Also my landlord has been shady and at this point straight up gaslighting me.
Main question: is it acceptable / professional protocol for an exterminator to simply come once and put down gel for a persistent (3+ years) German roach infestation?

2023.03.22 05:54 Snoo21869 5 months into HU/TRW
I've got multiple paying clients across multiple different businesses. All my basic expenses are paid and I'm getting ready to start traveling the world in the coming months.
The courses are mostly simple. If you want money, you WILL make money. Just follow the steps and give it your all.
Pro- Easy to follow in the beginning. Great community. Great information.
Con - if you are starting from scratch (which most students are) it's sometimes hard to figure out whats the best route to take.
What I recommend - if you are broke, the fast money options are best to start off (freelancing course with lawn mowing, flipping/make your first 100 course, twitter ghost writing, social media management)
Once your basic expenses are covered, do your absolute best to MASTER copywriting.
This CANNOT be exaggerated. Get REALLY good at copywriting
Once this is achieved. Send tons and tons and tons of emails outreaching to potential clients.
Once a client is landed. Do your best to knock it out of the park for them.
Don't focus on speed in the beginning. Focus on the quality of your work.
Don't get too annoyed at the wins you see others getting. Take your time and do what needs to be done.
Your time will come.
This was my arc
And it's going well

2023.03.22 05:46 Wild472 How to land a job with 70-100k range?
I’m a restaurant server. While job is quite ok, hours go up and down and so my income. I have different guests that seem to live way better lifestyle than I can afford myself. What classes or courses can I take to get a decent job and be able to save more money for future needs like mortgage, unexpected expenses when I get older, kids and their future needs? I don’t spend a lot and would say that I save ~20-30% of my income, and it goes straight to savings. Travel on budget, cook home, no bad habits. I’m really interested in road construction and development, but any tech jobs like HVAC or even pest control sound good, if pay is right. I just want to move on from restaurants and see growth of income over years. Cheers!

my neighbors are preppy, yuppy pieces of sh*t. they have the requisite 2.5 kids, fancy big house, and, as of june 2022, added a purebred bernese mountain puppy they spent a couple thousand bucks on, from a breeder. shortly after getting the puppy, they had a company come over who installed an invisible fence around their yuppy property. i didn’t pay much notice of them or their bratty, spoiled little kids (who roam around their property acting feral, much of the time). but, being a huge dog lover, i DID take notice of how they were taking care of their puppy…or, rather, how they WEREN’T taking care of him. their front lawn was strewn with toys for their dog, from big soft stuffed toys to massive rawhide bones. at first i thought that, aw, they love their puppy and are doting on him. but it soon became apparent that they were just throwing the toys outside for him so they wouldn’t have to pay attention to him. they never bring him inside to be with his family. when their kids get off the school bus, the dog runs up to them, CRAVING love and attention, and the kids just kick him in the chest and go in the house, leaving him desolate and alone again. when winter set in (a harsh, ny state winter) the dog was left outside constantly. no dog house. no straw bedding. nothing. he was and IS outside ALL THE TIME. these bastards get around the law by keeping their (north-facing) garage door open all day and all night. the garage is his “shelter” and he either lays outside in the snow, or on the icy driveway, or on the cold concrete garage floor. our area has had a succession of days and nights of sub-zero temps with howling winds (north winds, blowing into their north-facing open garage). i have talked to them on a few occasions. i have been polite. i have appealed to them to take him inside. i have shamed them that dogs—even bernese mountain dogs—can get frostbite on their paws and noses and after hours out in the cold they are susceptible to hypothermia. they admitted to me that they are DOCTORS, which i shamed them about to their faces even more, that they OF ALL people should know better than to neglect a poor dog. but they don’t care. after my attempts to appeal to their consciences failed, i contacted our local anti-cruelty dog enforcers, but they basically told me, “the garage is considered ‘shelter’ and we can’t do anything unless ‘more serious infractions’ occur.” which is a load of total bs. other neighbors have noticed the dog’s situation and have tried to show some sort of kindness to that poor lonely dog. but, there doesn’t seem to be much any of us can do to help the dog who’s basically a PRISONER, who can’t run away because he understands too well that he’ll get ZAPPED by the invisible fence collar they keep on his neck. it is a cruel situation and i don’t know what to do. it’s heartbreaking.

2023.03.22 05:03 Ahleron Got lawn seats - do I rent a chair?
I was able to get lawn seats for The Cure at Shoreline. I've been to three other Cure shows, but I was a lot younger and spent a lot more time on my feet. I'm going to the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, CA. They don't allow bringing any chairs but they do allow small blankets on the lawn. They also rent chairs. I'm wondering if it would make sense to rent lawn chairs for while we wait for the show to start or will they just get in the way when the show gets going. Any thoughts?

2023.03.22 04:42 mik288 First time gardening questions!
Hi there! So as the title suggests, this year will be my first time gardening. for some info, I plan on planting a (mostly) vegetable garden and I live in zone 6a in southern Ontario. I have a couple questions surrounding gardening, as I’m a pretty avid indoor plant gal but have next to no clue about outdoor plants.
- What types of plants can I plant to deter pests? I’ve read online that marigolds and various herbs can deter pests, and if anyone has any personal experience with those or other suggestions, I’d love to hear them.
- alongside my previous point, is there any pest repellent/animal repellent I can buy/make that is not harmful to the good bugs or animals? I have a couple of raccoons, skunks, and neighbourhood cats that frequent my yard, and I’d love to deter them from eating/messing up my plants, but don’t want to actually harm them in any way.
- are there any plants I should absolutely not plant next to each other? for background I plan on planting sunflowers, asparagus, zucchini, broccoli, tomatoes, watermelon, potatoes, and strawberries. I also might pick up more flowers to plant, but I’m not sure what ones yet. Furthermore, are there plants that ARE good to plant next to each other?
- not a specific question, but if anyone has some additional “I wish I knew this as a beginner” tips I would greatly appreciate them!

2023.03.22 04:37 thequeasydream How bad is my infestation?
I wouldn’t consider this sporadic sightings. I’ve seen about 20 since the beginning of Feb. It’s been a rather substantial uptick since Feb, prior to that I’d seen that many over the course of like 8 months. It was a lot better, pest control would only have to come once every few months and it would take care of the problem.
I don’t see one every day and can go several days without seeing any. Pest control has come 5 times to apply treatment since February and they’re still not gone. Since the last round of treatment, I just saw 1 live one (adult) by my dishwasher that I never use and a dying (younger) one in my dishwasher. The other day I saw one (adult) running across my bedroom wall in the afternoon after not seeing any for a couple days. Before that I saw one (adult) under my sink. It’s been about 12 days since my last treatment. Pest control is coming back on Friday.
