So for context, I was medically retired in the navy after 8 years of active duty. Since I am under 20 years of service I am only entitled to my VA compensation and not my retirement pay as my VA compensation is the higher of the two. All was fine for the first couple months and I got my VA payments as normal.
Now yesterday, I received $7,000 from DFAS for back pay of my “retirement pay”. Okay I call DFAS, they say they have no issues on there end even when I tell them im getting VA compensation. They tell me to maybe call the VA.
I then call the VA, the send me a letter of proof that DFAS was notified 3 months ago that I am receiving VA compensation. I then call back DFAS, and they said they still see no issues.
Knowing DFAS I feel as though this will go on for a while and I will get some debt letter in like 2 years owing 10s of thousands.
I will not spend the money. I documented all of my calls with both agencies and have the letter that the VA notified DFAS. Would I be protected if they come after me since I made attempts to fix an issue and they said they see no problems?

I currently drive an 08 car with 222,000 miles. It sounds rough but I have had it for 8 years and it is to be expected. I need a new car, but I am getting married in October. My fiance and I are also planning on moving cross country before our wedding as well. So finances are tighter but do able as we both live at home currently. My family is very religious so we are not planning on moving until end of Sept-mid Oct, moving stuff and coming back for the wedding and to move more stuff with us, since we are not getting a uhaul or moving company. I am debating on looking to get a car at the end of summer, after we secure an apartment in NJ, or waiting until we move to CO to get a car. My insurance is up in August and I am unsure if it is worth it to keep it insured for a few more months until we move and i most likely junk it or upgrade my car and maybe get a few hundred for a trade in. Right now, we have all of the money saved for our wedding in the bank, the money for my dress in the bank, and an extra 2k, which i'd use towards a car. We have a few hundred towards the move, but with time we will be able to build that up significantly. I would take out a loan, as my current banks have offered loans, I just have not looked to much into them. Also incase it matters, my fiance has a car loan, I am a co-signer, and I will have student loan payments starting in September for around $100 a month. I just don't know if buying here and driving it there is worth it, or in all honesty if my car will last til October.

Coming up on 2 weeks sober now and I am feeling great! However I now seem to have an addiction to seltzer water lol specifically the orange vanilla flavored Waterloo. I will crush 8 of them in no time. Anyone else have this happen? I won't complain because its easier on both my liver and my wallet but hopefully I can taper it back a little lol

We have 3 gerbils and one of them has spent a lot of time on a cardboard box whose highest point is about 8 cm off the standard level most of the stuff they chew are on. He has been doing this since we cleaned their terrarium yesterday and can stand on it for even 3 minutes straight. He moves very little while on it, maybe moves his head to look around a bit and such. He even does this when the others are sleeping so it can't be him watching for threats. Otherwise he is a happy little furball, he always has enough food and water, gets fresh food two times a day + some treats occasionally when they all go to the second floor because they hear us. The terrarium has enough stuff to chew such as cardboard boxes, sticks and pinecones and he shows no signs of anything being wrong; he moves around the terrarium with no issues and always comes when we bring the fresh food. My only guess is that that spot is more sunny since our previous gerbs liked to just lay in sunlight. The only issue is that now the terrarium is in a different place and does not get direct sunlight on it + he is not laying, he just stands with his eyes open. I'm not worried, just curious on why he does it.

I know this topic has been beat to death a bit, but was reviewing KD's cap situation and assets and my oh my has he got leverage. A few ideas that I would pursue if I were KD:

1. Move from 19 to 7 OA. The Flyers have 1 FRP and 0 seconds this year. KD offers #19, 35, and 44 for #7 OA. Win/Win: Philadelphia nets depth in exchange for moving down, Blackhawks move up to select a player like Ryan Leonard.
2. Move from 19 to 11 OA. The Canucks need cap relief badly. KD sends #19OA to Vancouver for Boeser, Garland, and #11 OA. Win/Win: Canucks move down 8 spots but get cap relief, Blackhawks get a higher pick and help getting to the cap floor + 'some' talent to play with Bedard.
3. Move from 19 to 3 OA. I think Leo Carlsson is the perfect player to pair with Bedard. I'd go all in on him this year as I think the chances of better than 3OA next year are lower. I'm offering Columbus next year FRP(no lottery protection) plus #19 and 35 OA this year. Win/Win: Columbus has a hard time parting with #3, but they also have likely two lottery picks to work with next year, two cracks at #1 that they missed this year, while staying in the first round this year. Blackhawks draft Leo Carlsson, they have their new Kane/Toews.

Just some ideas. I really do think the Blackhawks have a golden opportunity here with their cap space and draft capital to move up. #FortuneFavorsTheBold

Like, seriously, I've seen so many people get into relationships with people that just generally either don't care or just straight-up seem to enjoy treating them poorly, and they like it! Why? Wouldn't you want someone that is actually kind and cares about you as a person and ISN'T an asshole?
In any case, I'm not one of those people. When you're someone special in my life, I'll care about you sometimes more than I'll care about myself. What I want is a relationship where we become each other's #1 and we both give everything we have to it. I've always went above and beyond for everyone I've dated in the past and I plan to keep that up
Physically, I'm in decent shape, but I'll be in amazing shape soon enough, since I'd like to be beach-ready by the time I go on my cruise later this year with my family. I'm 5'8" and decently attractive to begin with, so that'll be a sight to see (I hope). I've got brown hair and dark brown eyes with a chiseled-ish jaw already
I'm a tech guy at heart, so staple hobbies for me are playing video games, watch anime, and playing board games, although I practically make it a hobby to collect more hobbies and research stuff, so I do basically everything. I am done. Trying to to run TOTK on my potato ring (i5, AMD Radeon RX550 2GB, 8 GB RAM) I followed every single piece of advise I found on the internet. Starting with fresh Windows installation, switching Graphics drivers to older because using Vulkan crashed the game and trying every possible graphics options there is. I started with unplayable 7-8 fps and lots of crashes and ended up finally to 30 fps, BUT after few minutes of gameplay fps drop to 15 no matter the resolution or options I use. I'd better buy a used Switch than having a headache from trying to play on 15 fps...

So i am quite a newb to HOI4 but love econ games and always try to max the economy side. So the "do you build infra first or civs first" is one that I question myself again every game. I have googled but did not like the results enough. I tried to just now do the math but it is incredibly complicated to get a 1 way strategy and I found this to be true in my first calculation.
First we have to understand the buffs on building correctly and I might have made a mistake here due to being quite newish. a factory output is 5.0 a day 10% from contruction research goes on top of this in a 1.1* 5.0 calculation. giving 5.5 a day the infrastructure works the same with 20% steps so 1 infra gives 1.2* 5.0 = 6.0 a day having both does 1.1 * 1.2 * 5.0 = 6.6 a day.
My first calculation I did just now had 2 different cases. Both have 0 infrastructure and 0 construction buffs because it makes my napkin math easier. we have a case where you have 1 civ and a case where you have 10 civs. I will give you the interesting part first, they have different optimal strategies. This is purely due to how math work in cases where you multiply and add. simple the more civs you have the more infra is worth.

1 civ	10.800/5	2160	10.800/50	216
1 infra + 1 civ	6.000/5 + 10.800/6	1200+1800=3000 days	6.000/50 + 10.800/60	120+180=300
1 civ + 1 infra	10.800/5 + 6.000/10	2160+600=2760 days	10.800/50 + 6000/55	216+109= 325

The 20% buff from infra is not worth it if you have no civs, but at 15 civs for example it is worth a lot more. The problem is that every situation is unique and you need those heatmap tables of every option to see what is the most optimal choice of building in each case. And then the question becomes, Do i open excell and go calculate so I can min max, or do I enjoy the game and just roleplay a bit more...
i'll do one more to see the other end. lets assume we go from 4 infra to 5 infra. this means are factory outputs will not be 5.0 and 6.0 but 9.0 and 10.0 a day.

I know my calculation might not be the best because you can for example say you won't add infra structure to certain states at all. And i feel like i still miss a lot of other potential cases, but that just shows you how hard it is to calculate the optimal choice in every case. What i get from this is that going from 4 to 5 infra has less Return On Investment than going from 0 to 1.
I am also thinking about a formula to calculate this but it is a pretty hard one and I think coding is probably better than a formula due to the build order being important. A formula would go something like: Infra cost / (x*5.0*y) + civ cost / (x*5.0*(y+1)) and the other one civ cost / (x*5.0*y)+Infra cost / ((x+1)*5.0*y) where x is the amount of civs and y the level of infrastructure. But this one does not go for all the unique build orders you can do...

2 infra + 3 civs	6000/(35*1.2) + 6000/(35*1.4) + 10.800/(35*1.6) + 10.800/(40*1.6) + 10.800/(45*1.6)	142.86+122.45+192.86+168.75+150= 776.92 days
3 civs + 2 infra	10.800/(35*1.2) + 10.800/(40*1.2) + 10.800/(45*1.2) + 6000/(45*1.2) + 6000/(45*1.4)	257.14+225+200+111.11+95.24= 888.49 days

In this case you basically get 1 free infra if you first build infra. I went into this reddit post because i started doubted my max infra then factory's in states with the most slots strategy for the just build civs. But with these calculation I might just stick to my strategy.
1 last thing to note, mils are cheaper and you do not build them to be efficient, you build them because you need more equipment. So my assumption into this calculation is just the phase from 1936 till you start pumping out only mills. I started this post because i am playing no DLC turkey and i have 30 mils vs 19 civs and feel like I don't have enough civs. Let me know if and where I made some mistakes, Might expand later. For now TL;DR; My calculation are very limited until now, but it seems to be more efficient to first build civ's if you have low civs (below 9 or 8 or something). if you have more civs it might be worth to first build the infra structure if you will build the infrastructure in that state anyway.

Please be kind. I (29F) need help with raising my husband's (36M) spirits . For context, during our past 10 years of marriage, he's been largely playing a support role to me during my career. I was in the Army for 8 years and he was a stay at home father to our child. After I left the military, I landed jobs that pay very well in my field. Currently, I have a job that makes 70k, plus personal use of a company car and lots of free time (enough of me to go back to college online full time using my GI benefits and not drown in stress from being a weekend warriors for the National Guard). I make around 90k a year between all my incomes. As for my husband, he makes about half of what I do and works significantly more hours with more stress. Because he was a support spouse, he has a huge gap in work history and not a lot of experience in his desired field. He hates my job because he wants it after seeing me happy everyday. He's been looking for a new job to help himself feel satisfied but isn't haven't any luck finding a job that's a good fit. He says it was easy for me yo get my current job, but he didn't see me miserable at my last job and interviewing with 1--3 jobs a week for 6 months looking for this job. I've tried telling him that the job he's looking for might not exist right now and to keep looking. I've tried reminding him that this fall I'll be signing over my GI benefits over to him so he can go to school, get certification, or partner with a company for on the job training, all of which the VA will pay for and provide a housing allowance. He's also recently became sober too. He stopped using THC/CBD, and he limits himself to 2 beers a night on the nights he drinks.
I'm really proud of him and I really appreciate him, but it seems like he's suffering from depression-like symptoms. Anything helps, whether it's words of wisdom or sharing your experiences. I want my husband to know that his feelings are valid and he's not alone.

Sorry no picture. Was driving the 55 freeway in So Cal around Santa Ana yesterday . Biker in black on , I don't know what kind of bike, Obviously sport something, Pulls into the Dimond lane and pops up a wheelie ( at 65-70 MPH) and rides it for an amazing amount of time passing other cars. I was blown away. I've ridden over 50,000 miles on road bikes over my lifetime never seen something so cool. Be careful out there.

Sometimes I feel as if I am just being paranoid. Then some days I know without a doubt that they are out to get me. Husband got a text from my younger sister, offering to drive me to the funeral, out of town. I explained to her 3 times about my health, but she keeps insisting that I will be ok to make a 600 mile trip. (Will anybody listen to me?) She says it will be fun. I again sent her a detailed text on my medical health issues. Haven't heard back from her yet. But in the meantime, I found the first text from her, informing me that our sister passed, and that it was my fault, and that she (older sister) did nothing to me to make me hurt her like that. My fault?
Should I say something to her, or just keep my mouth shut?
BTW...that trip, if I went with her, definitely would NOT be fun!

I am 32 year old female who is BRCa1 positive but otherwise active healthy, very active non smoker, very light drinker.
I had a preventive mastectomy with direct reconstruction exactly 6 weeks ago. Healing has gone super well. No complications and i feel really lucky.
But at around 4 weeks and continuing until today at 6 weeks I’ve noticed random things going on with my body and was wondering if its some like “post surgical” pendulum swing or “comedown” from whatever hormones or processes were going on in the initial healing phase.
Some symptoms I’ve noticed over the past two weeks - sleep disturbances (mostly trouble falling and staying asleep) - light headedness on standing (I’ve always had issues with low BP and low iron but more so of late) - flaky skin which has mostly resolved but still flaky /itchy scalp - along with scalp, probably have had some hair loss - really hard stools—probably going once every other day and stools are really hard. I had the initial constipation with the narcotics for the first couple days but after day 3 was just on Tylenol and in combo with coláce seemed to resolve the problem. But last two weeks have just been hard dry stools—I eat lots of veggies and fruits, drink tons of water and after week one of recovery was walking long distances (5-6 miles) and have recently started reincorporating running
Is this kind of thing common? I knowhair loss is common but other symptoms?

I'm a U.S citizen(37 yo) living in Texas (naturalized recently). I'll be leaving the U.S by the end of this year for a new job across the pond or two (GCC country). No plans to return soon as of now. I might come back for retirement or kids might go to universities here, there is still no final decision regarding that.
I just wanted to know what I am supposed to do with my current finances.
My current finances are held in the following institutions:
Chase: main checking account and two credit cards and house mortgage (3.25% APR, ~35% paid so far).
Charles Schwab: a checking account, Roth IRA and investment accounts (index funds).
Fidelity: 401K account
Citi: one credit card (costco)
HSA account with Cigna
My questions/thoughts
1- Should I close any account? or leave everything as is?
2- Can I contribute to the investment accounts and Roth IRA from my foreign account? are there any restrictions for that?
3- Should I keep the CCs open? I'm sure that I will be opening a CC at the foreign institution so I'm not sure if the U.S cards would be useful. Two of the U.S. cards don't incur international fees tho.
4- I'm planning on keeping the house and leasing it so that will help with paying off the mortgage and some passive income. No plans for selling it.
5- I understand that some of those institutions require a U.S address to keep accounts open, how would that affect me in this case? Can I use a friend's address?
6- I'll have to learn more about how to deal with taxation in my situation since I know that I'll still be paying taxes even if I live abroad.
7- Whom do I have to notify about the new foreign address? Department of Public Safety (DPS)? IRS? What about my ID/driver's license? it expires in 2024, what should I do about this? just let it expire?
8- What will happen to my credit score?
That's what I have in mind so far. I'm interested in any feedback and especially from people that are in a similar situation.

Basically she turns into a little landshark once she's over tired and is obsessed with begging for more food.
