Today is 2 years, 2 months, and 2 days of active recovery and sobriety for my husband. 26 MONTHS of recovery after 26 total YEARS of addiction. It’s crazy to realize how old we will have to be before he can have 26 years of recovery. That porn and this addiction took up so much of his life for such a long time. It has been 26 months since my husband has seen another woman nude. 26 months since he’s masturbated to another woman having sex on video. 26 months since he’s gotten sexual gratification from someone other than me. Honestly, had he been born 15 years later when the internet was already well up and running, the escalations in his addiction would be horrifying to imagine. I do not envy those of you who have addicts who began their addiction on the internet.
But I digress…the purpose of this post is to share a little hope but also some reality.
My husband is doing remarkably well in recovery and I am proud of him. The day I caught him was the last day he saw porn. He watched it in the morning, forgot to cover his tracks, and I caught him in the afternoon. I often wonder if he even remembers what he looked at that day…what images destroyed my life and overturned his. And he doesn’t…it was just another pair of photoshopped and filtered breasts, another plastic surgery enhanced butt, another day on NSFW reddit. All this turmoil and craziness in our lives for pixels he doesn’t even remember.
I am also proud of myself for my recovery. It is something I struggle with everyday…even after 2 years of work and therapy. I came into the relationship with major self-esteem issues and his disconnection in our relationship just increased those feelings over the all the years. And then D-day blew everything up. I struggle to feel attractive. To feel beautiful. To feel wanted. There are some major life choices that will affect us for the rest of our lives that he made due to his addiction that I have to accept. Things that I desperately wanted all my life that very well may never happen now and his addiction is 100% to blame.
It would be easy to just be angry at him all the time…and honestly he’d deserve it. But that wouldn’t be helpful for me. It would just keep me stuck in this negative place I’d love to leave for good. I have had to accept that choosing to stay in this relationship will mean choosing some struggles every day. They lessen a little everyday but I don’t ever think they will disappear entirely. But his recovery and our resulting relationship has absolutely been worth it. If it wasn’t, I wouldn’t have stayed.
I can honestly say that our relationship has never been better and never been stronger. I thought it was a joke when I first heard that in recovery podcasts. How could I possibly feel better in this relationship after knowing EVERYTHING I know about his addiction and all the women he continually chose over me for YEARS? But it’s true. For the very first time in the now 20 years we’ve been together I feel like I know this man. And I love this man. I hate the addict. I hate that asshole and I will blow up this relationship in an instant if I ever see him come back. But the man I’ve been with for the last two years…that is who I always wanted to be with.
I still don’t trust him 100% and I probably never will. But I’d say the trust is probably back somewhere between 85-90%. This man is someone who actually never wants to hurt me again. This man is someone who loves me with his entire heart. This man is someone who thinks I am brave and amazing and gorgeous and the best person he has ever known. My shy introverted husband is still shy and introverted but he smiles now. He laughs genuinely. I feel privileged to have seen genuine emotions and feelings (both good and bad) from him that literally no one else in his life as ever seen. He is happy and content and loving his life. And most importantly, I am happy.
The addict is still hiding somewhere deep inside of him because addiction is never truly cured, but he’s working hard every day to keep that asshole in some dark corner where he can never come out again.
For the first time in our relationship I genuinely feel loved, desired, and cherished. I feel like he is attracted to me for me and not for who porn has told him I should be. He cherishes and appreciates our relationship journey and all of its ups and downs through the years and realizes it is what makes us who we are. And it makes us stronger. I don’t look like what I did when we met when I was 18…but I’m not supposed to. I am 38 years old and have weathered the storm of addiction and survived. I am proud of myself and he thinks the world of me. He understands how brave I have to be to face this and is immensely grateful that I was willing to stay.
I shared this in a comment recently but wanted to make it a separate post because I think it needs to be seen by some of you just starting out in this journey. I know you don’t know me and I know you think you know your partner so much better than anyone else here. But you don’t know this addiction. You don’t know how it can steal that person you love away from you. And addiction will keep that person lying and stuck in shame and doing everything completely against his/her character just to keep the addiction alive.
White-knuckling does NOT work. Promises do NOT work. Every time I see a post from a partner where an addict has ‘cried for the first time’ and swore ‘he/she will never do it again because they love their partner so much and they never want to hurt them again’ but refuses to seek any help or support for something they’ve struggled with for years, my heart aches for that partner. Sobriety is not recovery. And recovery is not something 99.9% of addicts can achieve on their own. And they have to desperately want recovery for themselves and not as a bandaid to fix their relationship and keep you around.
I understand the deep desire to trust this person you’ve been vulnerable with and loved and cared for. But the addiction doesn’t care about you. It doesn’t love you. And all the love in the world cannot fix addiction on its own. If your addict refuses to seek help (whether through therapy, 12 step, accountability partners, etc), if they refuse to give you access to their phone (or pout and complain when you ask for it), if they refuse to give up hobbies and interests and prioritize those things over you, if they trickle truth you, if they cannot even attempt to be empathetic and supportive when you struggle, if they refuse to learn about the horror and dangers of the porn industry they support, if they gaslight you about your feelings and make you feel like you’re the problem because you don’t trust them, if they threaten to act out based on your actions and behaviors, if they use past history or trauma as an excuse for their behavior but refuse to get help to work through that trauma, if they refuse to prioritize their recovery and your recovery over everything/everyone else, your addict is NOT in recovery. And most likely they’re not even sober. The addiction is still very alive and well and in control inside them.
The definition of full active recovery will vary from couple to couple and the specific acting out behaviors involved with the addiction in their situation, however I think this should be a baseline for establishing active recovery.
There are lots of smaller, our relationship-specific rules for us (based on his past acting out behaviors) but these are the big ones for me:

• My husband works his recovery EVERYDAY - we do daily check-ins, he goes to several SAA meetings a week, we alternate solo and couples therapy each week, he does daily journaling, listens to recovery podcasts, calls and texts with SAA group sponsor and friends, etc. If I saw any of this recovery work start to slack that would be a huge red flag to me.
  • We are over two years into his recovery and sobriety. For the first year we both attended individual CSAT therapy once a week and he attended three SAA meetings a week (as well as everything else listed above). After the first year we both started working with our CSATs every other week and meetings with a couples CSAT on the alternating weeks. He also moved to two SAA meetings a week with my approval.
  • As we've hit the two year mark I am preparing to step down into monthly individual CSAT meetings, he will continue every other week with his CSAT and we will continue every other week couples work with our CSAT. After the first year he switched CSATs to someone who was more qualified to work with more of the internal thinking errors and childhood trauma/neglect that he really needed to address...that was just not a strong suit for his first CSAT.
  • He is continuing to attend two SAA meetings a week and all of the above recovery activities - journaling, reading recovery resources, recovery podcasts, calls and texts with his sponsor and SAA friends, etc and we continue with a daily FANOS check-in.
• He prioritizes his recovery first and then me and our relationship. I know that his recovery needs to be first because if he loses that, he loses everything. However, I am no longer at the bottom of the totem pole below work, friends, family obligations, professional obligations, hobbies, etc. For the first time in our relationship I actually feel like I am one of his top priorities.
• He is accountable with his time and location - if he's going to be late, he prioritizes calling me and telling me. He doesn't just decide to go make a second stop on his way home without letting me know. He just prioritizes me and my safety and that goes a long way towards building trust. • He makes time for my recovery - If I am struggling and need to talk, he's there for me. He leans into my struggles and works hard to acknowledge, validate, and reassure me. He doesn't get impatient or angry when I'm struggling. He shows up for me in ways he never did before. He's not perfect, that's for sure, but he really tries to lean into the uncomfortable conversations and situations without going to shame and making it all about him.
• No electronic devices, of any kind, in the bathroom or in bed - he will slip his phone into my purse if we're out and he needs to use a restroom...his phone charges on my nightstand at night. This is probably one that I will never be comfortable lifting based on his acting out behaviors and he's totally okay with that.
• Parental controls on all his devices - incognito mode is disabled and adult websites are blocked. I know that he could go around that and find 'not porn' porn in other places but this provides me a little safety and the fact that he's willing to do whatever I ask in regards to his devices helps build trust. o After we passed two years I stopped paying for Covenant Eyes...I feel like disabling incognito and adult websites on our Apple devices is good enough for my extra sense of security. I trust that he's not going to risk his sobriety or our relationship for that temporary dopamine hit.
• I can view his devices at any time and there is no hiding accounts, emails, etc. - Unfortunately his addiction means that there will not be surprise vacations or gifts in the near future (if ever). I don't feel the need to check often but he knows I can whenever I choose to and that keeping secrets from me (even if they're supposedly good secrets) isn't okay anymore.
• No social media - this may change over time but honestly he doesn't miss it. He realizes how much of a time suck it was and is happier without it. There is not a single social media platform that any addict NEEDS in his life. A refusal to give that up is a big red flag.
• Sex is optional - And if at any point either of us is not 100% connected and there in the moment, then we take a break. We don't use intimacy, in any form, as an escape for either of us. o No masturbation or selfish sex. He doesn't NEED an orgasm. For him, masturbation was always tied to porn use and his addiction and it's something he cannot and does not want to engage with anymore.
• No nudity/sex scenes in media - if we're watching something and a sex scene comes on he turns his head and looks at me. He's willingly given up some of his favorite tv shows, video games, book series, and comic books due to the graphic content. That means a lot to me. For example, he loved The Boys tv show...he will likely never watch it again. He didn't overtly sexualize media (because it was easier to just go find porn later) but he can see how it was that gateway to kicking off his addiction cycle. His willingness to give up activities that he enjoyed in the past is one of the biggest things that shows me that he is in active recovery. He isn't fighting for this game or that show or whatever. He does what is needed to keep me comfortable and safe because that is his priority. Not the current hit tv show or video game.

Again, this is what works for us based on his particular addiction habits and my betrayal trauma. Other people may have more extensive or slightly less extensive requirements for active recovery. But you have to demand more from your addict partner if he/she truly wants to show you that they’re in recovery. I know that my husband is in active recovery because he is 100% present in our conversations and in our relationship. He isn't hiding in secrecy and shame like he used to. Once you experience an addict in active true recovery you won't be fooled again. His behavior and actions are night and day from what they used to be and I know that I would know if something changes.
When you share here that you feel like you’re going crazy or you feel like something is wrong or you feel like you can’t trust him, there’s a reason for that. If an addict is not in true active recovery you won’t feel safe, you will feel crazy, and you will feel like you can’t trust him. Because you can’t. The addiction is still in control. Don’t accept half measures. Don’t accept ‘his/her’ rules for recovery. You all deserve so much more than that. I wish all of you could feel how I feel now. Feel that underlying struggle that is ever present but feel how much more connected and loved I feel for the first time in decades. You deserve to be loved by someone who can love you with their whole heart. And I truly wish that all of you will be able to experience that someday, whether with your current partner or with someone who is willing to put in the work for you.

Alt Club is kind of just a genre I made up!! But club and dance music obviously has an extensive history and it covers a whole range of sounds, and these albums all solidly fit under that umbrella. One thing (for me) that unites these albums, other than being three of my favourites from 2022, is their maximalism: Sudan, Kilo and Shygirl are all mixed media artists who have a clear creative vision for their work and these albums and eras are what they created when they were free of any societal or genre confinement.
Another thing the three of them having common is being black artists in alternative spaces, and how that reflects itself in their music. I think highlighting that they are black does a lot for representation and allowing people to see themselves in these genres, but on the flipside seeing someone only as a 'black artist' can be limiting, and these projects expertly break free of those labels and restrictions. These albums dance from genre to genre like they're going through themed rooms in a nightclub, and I'm so excited for everyone who loves them to get a chance to talk about them, and everyone who is unfamiliar to fall in love with them!

One of the primary themes of Natural Brown Prom Queen is homecoming; Sudan (who now lives in LA) is originally from Cincinatti, Ohio (area code #513), and spends a lot of the album tackling the idea of feeling at home or belonging and the restlessness of feeling in between two places. On the albums lead single Home Maker she sings about how she makes her apartment and home studio feel more homely, and compares it to feeling at home with someone you love. In fact, this album was entirely crafted in that home studio over lockdown, with Sudan self producing almost the whole thing. The project is much more electronic than her previous album (the earthy Athena) but is still rooted very firmly in the same sentiments and style, and of course the same brilliant violin work that Sudan is known for woven throughout.
Another thread across the album is Sudan saying things that people are afraid to say, or doing things she might not be supposed to. Milk Me gets outrageously horny, with Sudan singing "your finger up my pussy like a honey stick" over such ethereal production that the subject matter might slip right by you. Sudan tackles her identity as a black women throughout, writing about the colorism she faces being darkskin, or about how her hair ties into her self-worth and other's perception of her on Selfish Soul. Ultimately this album is a lot about her reinventing her image and putting her blackness at the forefront.

If I were to sum Kilo up as an artist in one word it would be chameleon. Each body of work Kilo's put out, whether it be music, fashion or art, has been an evolution, but not along one linear path. AMERICAN GURL isn't her finale, it's just a representation of where she is at now. The album is the embodiement of a candy store or an arcade, where the album's narrative takes place, sickeningly sweet synthy chaos with deceptively dark lyrical themes of consumerism and tackling what it means to be American looming underneath. On the albums' title track she sings "In a locked box, in a locked draw, will I find me an American Girl", immediately jumping into the idea that as a black artist she doesn't identify with the idea of an 'american girl' that is presented to us, instead that her own american girl is locked up inside of her. On my personal favourite bonus track Star Power, Kilo tackles fame and trying to make it in LA, and how endless that feels. Kilo ponders the idea that in such a capatlist world we consume so many different things, when you strip that all away, what of that actually is you?
The album couldn't be more of a 180 from her debut album six years prior, Reflections in Real Time, an alternative r&b and indie album that is equal parts manifesto and intimate diary. Where in her previous work she opted for minimalism, now is the time for all out maximalism. The use of bright, campy consumerism and Americanism allows Kilo to reflect on fears that are both unanimous and extremely personal: Am I pretty enough? Am I good enough? Why can't I do what somebody else is doing?
"That's the theme of American Gurl — exploring that I am a product of my environment and these are the things that have been put on me in this time so far."

Nymph is actually a very different debut from Shygirl than what we could've got - she more or less made a record over lockdown, in a similar vein to her fan favourite ep ALIAS, but felt like it was too easy. "If I don't give myself that space to myself, no one is! No one's gonna expect me to do anything else." and thank god she did give herself that challenge, because Nymph is the perfect evolution of Shygirl's character and sound. Taking strong influence from 00's garage and r&b, tracks like the lead Firefly bring the sound into the 2020's with added hyperpop flourishes. Much like Sudan and Kilo, Shygirl is very much a sole visionary, but she has a star studded team of producers behind her to help bring her vision to life consisting of Bloodpop, Danny L Harle, Mura Masa and longtime collaborator and friend Sega Bodega. Album opener Woe is a haunting telling of fame and expectations, with Shygirl singing "When will you see it from my side?". I actually saw Shygirl at the tail end of last year at Printworks in London, which if you're unfamiliar, was a sweaty, gay warehouse used for all kinds of raves and gigs, and I truly can't imagine a setting where Shygirl's music is better suited.
Shygirl also is on a mission to reclaim her own body from everyday misogyny, with Coochie (a bedtime story) being a playful, nursery rhyme esque track about women's bodies and battling the idea that they are weird or undesirable. But of course the overarching theme and imagery of the album is that of a woodland nymph, inspired by romanticism work like Thomas Hardy's Tess of the D’Urbervilles. Nymph as a record is not an attempt to rebrand Shygirl's image, but add depth to it - she can be a provocative, industrial rapper just as well as she can be an ethereal, sensitive artist, and there's no need to limit herself to one or the other.
“When I think of a nymph, I feel an affinity to the ethos of that character – I have felt beguiling, fascinating, mysterious, supernatural and also part of nature. You don’t see people like me in these stories, and I have as much right as anyone else.”

Can I Stream Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse?

You can’t stream Lightyear yet — but you’ll be able to soon. As a Disney movie, you can expect Lightyear to drop on their streaming service, Disney Plus, in the coming weeks, but the exact date of when that might happen hasn’t been announced yet.
Generally, with their cinematic releases, Disney and Pixar tend to follow either a 30-day release window or a 45-day release window. We don’t know which one they’re going with yet for Lightyear, but this means that given the movie’s global release date is June 17, we can expect Lightyear to be on Disney Plus sometime between July 21 and August 3, 2022.

FYI, this is a story COLLECTION. Lots of standalones technically. So, you can basically start to read at any chapter, no pre-read of the other chapters needed technically (other than maybe getting better descriptions of characters than: Adam Vir=human, Krill=antlike alien, Sunny=tall alien, Conn=telepathic alien). The numbers are (mostly) only for organization of posts and continuity.

LFIL protests…
They were happening again.
He had expected this sooner rather than later, and it hurt to watch.
He knew, more than anyone that it wasn't going to work.
The Galactic Assembly was full of aliens, not humans. The things that impressed humanity, the things that got humanity's attention were the same sort of things that tended to scare the GA.
But of course, the average human couldn't have known that, and with their tendency to change creatures around them to become more human, the aliens with which they worked didn't see it either.
They were doing the right thing, but going about it the wrong way.
Still, that didn't stop his feelings of sadness and empathy for their plight.
Walking with Sunny, standing on the buddy pegs attached to her back, and examining the protest encampment around him, he couldn't help but be impressed by their bravery.
He knew for a fact that if he was in their shoes, he would be way more likely to hide, lie to everyone around him, and even himself.
But here they were out in the open, a shining beacon of defiance against the GA.
It was a difficult situation, of course he supported the GA wholeheartedly, and he always would, and with that support came an understanding.
But that didn't mean that he had to agree with them.
They were scared.
And people tend to lash out at things that scare them.
As it turns out, that seemed to be a common factor across the galaxy.
He reached down, hand caressing the tear gas canisters at his belt and the accompanying gas mask. He prayed, just PRAYED that he wouldn't have to use them, but how was he to know what would happen. When people got righteously angry about something they tended to act up, and when thrown into a group of like-minded people, the pack mentality was overwhelming.
He wanted everything to go well, he wanted them to make their point, to prove that they were the moral superiors, demonstrate to the GA that they weren't militant, and all they wanted was peace.
That was the sort of thing that would get across to the GA.
But with humans involved... He didn't really have much hope.
He glanced around at the assembled tents, looking for any sign of trouble.
He didn't see much, just the limp white flags, with the LFIL logo printed proudly on their front.
Still keeping an eye on his surroundings, he leaned against one of Sunny's shoulders.
"So, what do you think about this whole thing?"
Sunny turned her head to look at him, gold eyes and blue carapace glittering with the yellow sheen of the Rundi sky.
She shrugged, setting him a little off balance. She grabbed his feet to steady him as she continued up a small incline.
"It doesn't bother me, and I suppose I understand them."
"Oh?"
"Imagine finding someone you connect with, someone who understands you more than anyone ever has. Imagine a Drev finding the greatest warrior in the galaxy, and then... Just having to suffer knowing you can never be with them. Granted none of the other species ever would have considered it an option without the humans, but now.... It makes sense. You connect with someone well enough, then beyond that there isn't much you can do. And now the GA has prohibited that."
"I agree with you completely, but let me play devil's advocate for a moment. They aren't even the same species, without the same genetics. It wouldn't be physically possible to produce a viable offspring wouldn’t it?”
She turned her head to look at him.
"And how does it work for your brother David and his husband Jordan?"
He laughed,
"Ok, ok, poor question."
"Adoption is a relevant option. Plus, this is coming from the guy who lent his DNA to some alien."
"Arguably she stole it, but I get your point."
They turned another corner scanning the crowd,
"Hear me out though. Humans are... Well, you know how humans are. They need... uhhm uhhh you know…”
Adam got a little red,
”…Affection and intimacy... How does that even... Work?"
"Oh, I am sure some human has found a way, besides, humans and Drev aren't so different in that regard..."
He tilted his head to look at her,
"How the hell do you know that?”
"Got into a discussion with Krill. He thinks it's possible, though he would never tell you humans. He already thinks you do a ton of stupid stuff anyway."
”Oh really what is he expecting? I don’t think anyone from our crew would jump at the opportunity to do it with a Drev be it man or woman… Besides with all these tall as hell Drev males, human women wouldn’t have much fun either would they?”
”Considering males who would be interested, aren’t you good friends with Ramirez? Why don’t you ask him, maybe he knows someone?”
”Okay damn fair point… but the female argument still stays.”
”Krill did some research, I swear I never saw him so… done with humans. He looked like he would drink away his sorrow to forget everything… if his body could tolerate alcohol.”
”So what did he find out about humans this time?”
”After another particularly massive aggressive rant about how and I quote “shitting freaking goddamn incredibly punk-ass weird” you humans are, he said some weird words in a context I didn’t understand. So, do you know what a dragon is and can you tell me why it is so bad?”
”Hmm what… wait a second…”
”…”
”Oh shit…”
”So?”
"So uhmmm uhhh, let’s stop with humans and talk about Drev again okay? Don't you Drev guys have something like a mating season?”
"We did, but it was actually based on the magnetic fluctuation of our planet in time with the seasons. Now that we don't have that anymore, things are out of whack."
"Huh, I didn't know that."
"You never asked."
"Because that is a totally normal thing to ask someone. Hello, my name is Adam, and I am actually very curious about how... That stuff... works on your planet."
"That stuff, huh?"
He rolled his eyes,
"I was sheltered ok, give me a break."
They came to a stop at a crossroads, and Adam stepped down from her back and onto the dirt, tilting his head to listen, trying to detect any signs of a disturbance.
As of yet there was nothing.
He turned to the left, down another line of tents, passing into a more populated area of the protest encampment.
People wearing specially made clothing, with the LFIL logo, shirts, scarves, bandannas, jackets, hats etc. etc. walked about, openly with their alien companions, a few even brave enough to show overt affection towards each other.
A human hugging a Tesraki, while another stood on a box to kiss the cheek of their Drev partner.
"Now that, is something I couldn't do."
He said to Sunny, as they walked past.
"Kiss someone?"
"No, Kiss someone three to four feet taller than me. Way too much work."
"How do you know, maybe climbing up three feet would be worth it?”
Eyes followed them nervously as they walked past, their riot gear marking them as “the enemy”.
"I would rather not be in danger of twisting my ankle every time I wanted to show someone affection, thanks."
"You twist your ankle all the time anyway."
"That's my point. If I twist my ankle now, imagine what would happen if I had to do acrobatics on a regular basis."
They came to a halt as a group of protesters paraded in front of them holding up picket signs.
One of the protesters turned to glare at him,
"We aren't doing anything illegal!”
Adam held up his hands,
"I know. I'm just security to make sure no one gets hurt.”
The other human didn't seem convinced, angrily grabbing their alien companion around the waist before marching off.
The Tesraki looked uncomfortable, looking back at them apologetically.
Though Tesraki were generally cutthroat businessmen, they tended towards extreme submissiveness in relationships with humans.
Adam stepped through the gap left by the protesters and continued walking.
As they did, they early ran into a group of kids selling little white flags and bandannas.
They pulled to a halt, eyes widening in surprise and shock.
A young Tesraki pulled to a halt with them looking as if he was about to panic and run off.
However, the kid at the front's eyes widened and a big smile crossed his face,
“Holy shit! You, I know you!"
Adam smiled,
"You do now?"
"Yeah , yeah you're in that movie. You, you command the UNSC fleet."
For some reason, that exclamation calmed the other kids, and they squealed, shouting and asking for a picture. Of course, he was happy to oblige, posing with them for their pictures. Sunny stood to the side, happy to watch though she was dragged in for the next set of pictures once they realized who she was.
"What are you doing here?"
One of them asked, glancing down at his clothing. When she saw what he was wearing her smile was falling,
"You... aren't here to stop us, are you?"
Adam shook his head,
"No, of course not, protesting isn't illegal."
He motioned to Sunny with his other hand,
"Sunny and I are just here to make sure that you guys stay safe, and that no one gets hurt.”
Sunny nodded. One of the more skeptical looking teens looked up at him,
"How do we know you aren't here to stop us. You work for the GA after all."
Adam shrugged,
"I don't have much else to prove, other than my word."
The skeptic looked at them, a wicked smile appearing on her face,
"I know."
She reached into her cart and pulled out one of the bandannas,
"Wear this!”
It was clear she expected him to balk at the idea, but to her surprise, he smiled,
"Alright, sounds reasonable."
He held out his arm, and watched, still smiling as she tied it around his upper arm still glowering at him skeptically,
"Think you can spare one for my big friend?"
He patted Sunny on the arm.
That broke her skepticism, and she smiled openly, handing a second one over to him, which he tied around one of Sunny's upper arms.
He waved a goodbye to them, and stepped back up onto Sunny's back, walking away with her.
"That was nice of you."
He shrugged,
”Not really. I honestly agree with them. The GA has no right to tell them who they can and cannot be with. I know they have some reasons, but I feel like there is a better way of dealing with it."
Sunny hummed deep in her throat,
"Uh-huh, or you really just want a really tall girlfriend."
He sighed,
"Honestly I'd settle for any size girlfriend if I could just talk to her like a normal person without sticking my foot in my mouth. No Maverick and Dr. Katie do not count…"
"Your incompetence with women is acrobatic."
"I'm glad you're impressed.”
Together, they continued their slow circle around the encampment, drawing suspicious and confused eyes as they went. Sometimes they were recognized, and occasionally people would ask to take pictures with them, other times, they just wanted to talk.
The variety of people was... astounding.
A barely five foot human with a nine foot Drev.
A group of humans and a group of Tesraki.
A lawyer and a Finnari.
Two couples both as business partners with a Tesraki half.
They were young and old male-female, in all different pairings.
Old soldiers, and young students.
It was honestly quite stunning.
At one point they stopped off for water and ran into a massive bodybuilder with his Drev girlfriend, whose carapace at any other time would have marked her as ugly for a Drev.
At first Sunny felt bad for her, with her muddy brown carapace, mat without any shine.
The man turned and handed Adam some water.
”Here better stay hydrated brother!”
Adam raised the bottle,
"Thanks."
The man looked him over, eyeing the bandanna around his arm.
"Interesting accessories for a GA affiliate."
"You can work for someone and disagree with them."
The man laughed,
"I suppose that's true."
He greeted Sunny as well, who was trying not to stare at the other female Drev for too long, lest it seem like she was staring.
He motioned to the arm band,
"Supporter, or-"
His eyes flicked between Adam and Sunny.
"We're just here to make sure everyone stays safe."
Off to the side the mat Drev looked at Sunny,
"I'm sorry."
Sunny glanced over at her nervously,
"Sorry for what?"
"You must have been treated very poorly on Anum."
Sunny shuffled her feet awkwardly,
"I was alright I guess..."
"Regardless. I hope things work out for you. The Drev beauty standards are unfair, and things need to change."
Sunny wasn't entirely sure how she was supposed to feel about that.
"They aren't so bad."
She ventured defensively.
"Then I am sure you are getting combat offers left and right with your coloring.”
Sunny went quiet again. She would have said this was passive aggressive, but the Drev didn't do passive aggressive, so was this just an open statement about how ugly she was? If that was the case, it kind of hurt.
"I have, because I am an experienced warrior."
Her voice was cold.
"Oh, so where is your partner?"
"I turned them down."
That seemed to surprise the female Drev.
Sunny felt her fists clench, but Adam placed a hand on her arm. She was quiet,
The two humans exchanged a look, the way that only humans can, speaking without actually saying anything.
”C’mon babe, lets look a little bit around and let these two be… It was nice meeting you brother! Also… good luck man…”
The human bodybuilder turned around, taking the Drev by one of her hands to lead her away.
Adam took Sunny by the arm and raised his water at the man,
"Uhm what? Huh anyway, good luck to you too?"
Before turning to walk away, the other Drev cut in at the last second.
"I hope you find a worthy battle partner."
Adam Squeezed Sunny's arm tighter, but she turned her head anyway snapping,
"I already have."
Before marching off without another word.
Adam was forced to scamper after her, his legs much shorter.
"Wow, wow, hold your horses!”
She finally slowed to a stop, still fuming.
"Who the hell does she think she is!?”
"Sunny-."
"Calling me ugly to my face!"
"Sunny-"
"I should have challenged her to a duel right then and there!"
"Sunny!?”*
She turned to look at him,
"What!?"
He climbed back up on her back, patting her shoulder,
"She was obviously just insecure and jealous. I mean come on, look at you, blue is the rarest color in the galaxy and most attractive for a Drev, and we all know that height is the least important attribute of Drev beauty standards. The better you can fight, the more you make up for it, besides it's not her fault that she can't accept someone as being valid unless they are in a pair."
Sunny grunted. He frowned,
"Speaking of which, coming from her it seems like a double standard. You fight with me, and I'm fucking awesome, so by default you have to be too."
"Wow Adam, you really know how to make a person feel better."
"I know."

They were crossing back to the other side of the encampment, when they ran into some familiar faces.
Ramirez and Maverick appeared from the crowd, waving the two of them down with greeting hands.
They pulled to a stop, and the commander motioned to the white bandanna on Ramirez's arm,
"Nice accessories."
"I like yours too."
"I didn't know you were a supporter?”
Ramirez laughed,
"Man I am a supporter of whatever the hell people want to do with themselves."
Off to his side Maverick had tied one of the white bandannas to her belt.
"And you?”
"Personally, I don't give a shit. I don't even think it should be an issue, but by banning it, the GA created a problem for themselves and took away the freedom of choice for these people. Even if I did disagree with what they are doing, I would still support their ability to make that choice for themselves."
She tugged on the bandanna,
"But hey, would I be wearing this otherwise?”
The commander nodded his head, surprised and pleased at his men for being so open minded, though he supposed it should make sense. They worked with aliens every day. Where others might have fostered a sense of fear based on unfamiliarity, they had experience.
"Let’s just hope this all goes over well tomorrow. I don't want to have to use any of this."
He motioned down to his gear.
The commander sighed.
"Isn't that like the catch 22 thing?”
Loyal to one side.
Sympathetic to the other.
Empathetic to both.
He would be relieved when it was finally fixed.
Though how he could help was beyond him.

Thanks for reading! As you saw in the title, this is a cross posted story written by starrfallknightrise and I'll just upload some of it here for you guys, if you are interested and want to read ahead, the original story-collection can be found on tumblr or wattpad to read for free. (link above this text under "OC:..." ) It is the Empyrean Iris story collection by starfallknightrise. Also, if you want to know more about the story collection i made an intro post about it, so feel free to check that out to see what other great characters to look forward to! (Link also above this text). I have no affiliations to the author; just thought I’d share some of the great stories you might enjoy a lot!
Obviously, I have Charlie’s permission to post this and for the people already knowing the stories, or starting to read them: If you follow the link and check out the story you will see some differences. I made some small (non-artistic) changes, mainly correcting writing mistakes, pronoun correction and some small additional info here and there of things which were not thought of/forgotten or even were added/changed in later stories (like the “USS->UNSC” prefix of Stabby, Chalar=/->Sunny etc). As well as some "biggemajor" changes in descriptions and info’s for the same stringency/continuity reason. That can be explained by the story collection being, well a story collection at the start with many standalone-stories just starring the same people, but later on it gets more to a stringent storyline with backstories and throwbacks. (For example Adam Vir has some HEAVY scars over his body, following his bones, which were not really talked about up till half the collection, where it says it covers his whole body and you find out via backflash that he had them the whole time and how he got them, they just weren't mentioned before. However, I would think a doctor would at least see these scars before that, especially since he gets analyzed, treated and goes shirtless/in T-shirts in some stories). So TLDR: Writing and some descriptions are slightly changed, with full OK from the author, since he himself did not bother to correct these things before.

It only recently occured to me; Littlefinger set up Sansa:
She did not understand why the gods would have given such a voice to such a wicked man. He would have taken me by force on the Fingers if Petyr had not set Ser Lothor to watch over me, she had to remind herself. And he played to drown out my cries when Aunt Lysa tried to kill me. (Sansa I, AFFC)
Littlefinger intentionally planned to have a situation where Sansa would be left alone with Marillion, so that Marillion could attempt to sexually assault her, so that Lothor Brune could save Sansa.
To be clear, I am not suggesting Littlefinger paid Marillion to try and r*** Sansa. Littlefinger must have already known Marillion from when he recently visited Lysa in the Eeyrie. LF knew his nature. He knew that if he left Marillion drunk and alone with a beautiful low born bastard-maiden, he would try and have his way. Then all LF had to do was tell Lothor Brune to watch over Sansa and the rest played out.
This accomplishes multiple things:
1) It makes Sansa ok with framing Marillion for murder later on. Sansa feels very guilty for lying about Lysa's murder to frame Marillion and cover for LF. She justifies this to herself by saying that Marillion attacked me and Petyr saved me.
She could not save him. And why should she want to? Marillion tried to rape her, and Petyr had saved her life not once but twice. Some lies you have to tell. Lies had been all that kept her alive in King's Landing. If she had not lied to Joffrey, his Kingsguard would have beat her bloody. (Sansa I, AFFC)
LF knew it would be easier for Sansa to get on board with a framing/cover-up if she already had beef with the guy.
2) The incident pushed Marillion to support Lysa harming Sansa. Marillion was a very petty, spiteful man. Littlefinger knew this. So when Lothor Brune told him to stay away from "Alayne"/Sansa, he became pissed at "Alayne." This set him up to enthusiastically support Lysa in the next chapter, when she was about to murder Sansa. Again, this turned Sansa against Marillion and let her justify framing him for a crime he didn't commit. She brings it up when justifying it to herself:
And he played to drown out my cries when Aunt Lysa tried to kill me. (Sansa I, AFFC)
3) Makes Sansa more dependent on Littlefinger for security. Since Petyr is the one that saves her, that causes her to more trust in him
She murdered her own lord husband, and would have murdered me if Petyr had not come along to save me. (Sansa I, AFFC)
I have no place but here, Sansa thought miserably, and no true friend but Petyr. (Sansa I, AFFC)
The security that Littlefinger seemingly provides is a big factor in Sansa choosing to stay with LF.
4) Adds more to the character of Littlefinger. If this theory is true, then it is yet another successful plot added to the list of Littlefinger plots/maneuvers (actually a decent sized list). LF is already the most manipulative character in the entire series, and this only adds to his legacy. Truly one of the top antagonists in the whole series
Conclusion: I just figured this theory out on my own. There's not a ton of evidence for this theory other than it makes perfect sense for all the characters involved, it's natural and organic, and it's more interesting than the simple narrative presented. The best evidence I could find is the AFFC chapter where Sansa makes it very clear that the Marillion-attempted r*** incident played a role
I'm sorry if this obvious and everyone knew it already. Maybe its a really popular theory and somehow I missed it. There's no way I'm the first one to think of this. But I've read a ton of theories and I've never heard this one

TL;DR - my hubby (LLM) and I (HLF), both in our 20s, got married last fall and have massively different libidos *partly* because of his Sertraline use. I don't want to want him anymore.
I love my husband. Like many of you here, our relationship is amazing. He's supportive, easy-going, super handsy and loving. Even our 'problems' are nothing issues that are fixed by a quick friendly chat or an easy solution. Except sex.
We have sex 1 or 2 times a month, sometimes even that feels like duty sex on his part. I'd be very happy with every day or every other day, even a few times a week, but know that's not good for him and could compromise at maybe once a week. It wasn't like this until we started living together.
We've talked about sex frequency ad nauseam. Nothing ever changes. He doesn't want to speak to a Dr about supplements or to change his meds, and I 100% get that. I tested my T-levels as part of exploring what medication might numb my sex drive, and he was so upset about me exploring that path.
We had sex once a week for three weeks or so, which was amazing, but now it's been a month again and he masturbated the other day so won't want to for a while. I don't want him to say yes when he doesn't want to - never, ever, ever would I do that to someone.
I know I'm fully leaning into the whole 'irrational woman' thing here but I just want him to *want* me, the way I want him. Even if I lost my sex drive, I'm sure I'd miss his body, his touch. He just doesn't feel the same way.
Sometimes I think he's just LL4M. He has hentai galore, hentai games included, and talks online about how he'd f*ck all these fictional female characters and why he finds them so irresistible (all for features I don't have and wish I did). It really, really stings.
He compliments me all the time and says I'm sexy and that he wants me, but with the whole picture this paints, I don't believe him. Him touching me and groping me is starting to feel like cruel teasing, even if it really isn't.
I hate feeling like this. I'm not pretty by nature, but I'm not ugly either. I could be doing more, but I exercise almost every day, think I am physically fit and have been doing recomp fairly successfully. I dress up and wear makeup.
It used to attract him but it doesn't anymore. Neither does cosplay, lingerie, initiating (a turn-on for him), being coy, being naked - nothing. I don't *expect* sex in exchange for certain behaviours but it just feels like all my efforts are pointless. He doesn't understand how often he turns me down, and once during a period of trying to be more sexually dominant (which he says he likes), he said I was making him feel like a sex object for initiating so much. Shot down every single time. Maybe I was doing it wrong? I didn't think so, but...
A few months ago during Talk Number ??, I told him some of the above, saying I don't want to initiate anymore. When he's seemed into it I have once or twice since, but it's always no. He is always baffled. He just doesn't have an awareness of how often he says no, or what this is doing to our relationship. He seems to think it's just a physical urge, like hunger, in a vacuum, not tied to physical intimacy.
He doesn't seem to really enjoy non-PIV stuff either. He doesn't *hate* it, but there's no passion in it either, and he doesn't want to be sexually touched at all if he's trying to get me off. He just looks blank.
If the choice is between him forcing himself to get me off because he feels bad and me masturbating alone, I'll take being alone. But he also gets upset when I do choose to do it alone and doesn't want me to use penetrative sex toys.
I get it - especially with men, there's an unfair expectation that they're the HL and it's all fine and dandy, big strong man wuuuaaah. It clearly makes him feel bad, and he'll sometimes apologise unprompted. Which he doesn't need to do; his drive is the way it is, I can take it or leave it. I’m quite embarrassed about this, and the anonymous internet is the perfect place to write my thoughts and see if anyone has any help or insight. I know people might poke fun, but I’d really like some ideas of how I might be able to change.
I’m obsessed with the weather. I’m assuming this is obsessive behaviour.
I look at the weather forecast constantly. All day long. I live in a very weather unpredictable yet cloudy part of the world. I’ve known summers to be cloudy and drizzly, as well as hot and dry. Still, a two week cloudless sky (like we are having now) is very rare indeed. When this happens I get a terrible sick to my stomach feeling like I should be going to all the places I’d love to see when it’s great weather. The countryside, the highlands, etc. But I can’t as I am working and when I plan to go away in a month or so it will probably be back to normal and rainy. I constantly read about the wind direction and mention it to whomever I’m with. The change of the seasons are exhausting as I constantly have to see how the weather is different. I talk about the weather all the time to my friends and family. I take screenshots of weather reports and keep them. I look at the images of weather reports I saved from years ago to compare. I look up weather of cities all around the world, I look up temperature records and facts all the time. I take photos of clouds and rain and the sun all day long. If I hear that a part of the county has a rainbow I get upset I missed it. We had the northern lights here recently and I didn’t see them as I live down south. I felt sick. I take sick days off work when it’s nice weather so I can enjoy it, even though I feel like I’m forcing myself to enjoy it. I usually end up going to the park. Im utterly obsessed and it’s making me unhappy. When it’s sunny outside I can’t bare to be inside for longer than a few minutes.
I wish I could embrace a mantra that would make me accept that the weather isn’t so important, but it’s all I can think about.

So I am making a post focusing on some big things and some small ones that will likely matter for most.

Q: Will my hidden ability (name of 'mon) lose its ability when transferred to PLA from SV?
A: No, the ability will not be lost and the ability slot will be the same in the next stage (if evolved) as if it evolved in another mainline title.
Q: Why does my Alpha 'mon not look as big in SV as does in PLA?
A: Because that is how Game Freak made them scale in SV. Keep in mind, they are still the maximum size a Pokemon can be of their species, also they will get a Jumbo mark from the size checker in Mesagoza. However, they will not be *bigger than your character in S/V compared to yours in PLA. *Some Pokemon will be, just not all, mainly species dependant.
Q: Will the Pokemon I caught in SV keep the ball it has when transferred to PLA? Example: Friend ball Goomy goes to PLA.
A: Simply, yes. The way PLA displays that Pokemon's ball is a Strange ball, and when put back in either BDSP or SV, it is whatever ball it was caught in. However, if the Pokemon originates from PLA, then it is a Strange ball in BDSP or SV. SwSh do NOT have the data to display a Strange ball or even say if the Pokemon is from Hisui, unlike BDSP or SV.
Q: Can I transfer a regular Growlithe or Zorua in to PLA from SV and evolve it in to the Hisuian version?
A: NO. Unlike Gen 7, SwSh or now even SV, regional variants that are not in PLA already (A-Vulpix/Ninetales excluded), can't be moved in to the game. Example: A-Raichu or U-Braviary can NOT go in to PLA. But Rufflet or K-Raichu could because they are in the base code. So if you want to evolve a regular Pokemon that can only evolve in to its Hisuian variant, then it has to go PLA to evolve. Everything else must be the regional's base form or the next proper stage.
List: Goomy, Rufflet, Bergmite and Petilil can only evolve in to the regional's next stage in PLA. Currently, Kleavor (Scyther) and Ursaluna (Ursaring) are needing Evo items from PLA to evolve despite not being regional variants.
Q: Can I breed a Hisuian Pokemon in SV?
A: Yes. Just like in Gen 7 and SwSh, just as long as you breed with a Ditto or the same species while that regional form is holding an Everstone. Example: H-Growlithe holds Everstone while breeding with Ditto or with K-Growlithe. Also, gender doesn't matter when breeding with a regional variant of the same species.

Disclaimer. I am currently master ranked offlane player who has been playing the game since launch competitively & casually, on all ranks between gold and GM. I took a bit of a break after the last guides but upon several requests to continue making these, I was inspired to continue making them again. This particular guide got extremely long due to concerning a fairly complex hero and I like being thorough with my explanations. Links to other guides can be found at the end.

Dehaka is one of the ‘’big three’’ bruisers of high rank bruiser play (The unholy trinity of HoggeBlaze/Dehaka) and while other bruisers do also see play, its difficult to find a game where all of these 3 do not exist in either bans or picks. Dehaka, while not any weaker than the other two and situationally stronger, he does have a bit more counterplay to it than the others.

Drafting Dehaka

Synergistic heroes
Dehaka works really well with things that can quickly kill a drag target that often rely on short range. Some examples below;

• Greymane
• Tychus
• Jaina

Additionally, heroes that have high duration powerful AoE effects that Dehaka can reposition people into with his Drag and his level 4.

• Malf
• Stukov

Heroes Dehaka can struggle into
​

• Junkrat Using steel traps in bushes near a fight makes for a miserable time to play Dehaka. You cannot really rely on Z flanks the same way you could otherwise since you might risk a 2.5 second silence + root.
• Lucio - Hard to drag with too many cleanses. The Q also interrupts drags and makes it much more hard to get to a position to drag. Lucio and Junkrat are by far the two worst partners in crime for the lizard to face.
• Brightwing - Cleanse and high range interrupt to a drag with polymorph. You usually have to bait out the poly on someone else before attempting to go for a Q.
• Ana - After 13, having a stun removal that gives 50 armor with a 2s CD is pretty nasty, and so is the ability to deny all healing from essence with a basic ability. Thankfully, Ana is fairly vulnerable to getting ran down herself by Dehaka by a good brushstalker. Just be ready to use E quickly to avoid the sleep.
• Deathwing - Not only is he immune to drags, but his massive hitbox is fairly efficient at blocking drags on everyone else either.
• Cho’gall - Dehaka doesn’t have the greatest single target damage to burn him down, and Gall can interrupt drags with his stunning orbs even as he is being dragged himself. On the flipside, Dehaka can focus more on macro and punish the inflexibility of chogall draft to deal with him.

Heroes Dehaka is good into
​
Just to be clear, there are not many heroes that like being dragged for 2.25 seconds into bad positions. There are some standouts regardless that he is extremely effective against.

• Diablo - Into Diablo he is amazing. He is the easiest target to hit with a drag in the game with his aggressive playstyle, and he is fairly easy to blow up in a drag if you have any of the heroes that Dehaka is typically great with. After level 4, Dehaka himself is practically immune to Diablo himself because of his stealth.
• Imperius - The level 4 talent destroys him in all the ways possible. No spears, no E, no nothing.
• Kerrigan - She is extremely easy to drag due to her telegraphed back to front movement, and you can use your E to protect any allies from her combos while avoiding those aimed towards you entirely.

Maps

To cut it short, what makes for a great Dehaka map:

• Lots of bushes
• Large size to utilize global
• Macro focused maps
• Camps that are easily defended with Drag
• Maps with split objectives

S tier maps

Dragon Shire
​
So Dragon Shire is great for several reasons. The nature of the split objective is one such. The bottom shrine is positioned in such a way, where the only ‘safe’ way out of the shrine is usually by walking through a bush which is also known as the lizard territory. Another is the quantity of maps on the bottom side of the map that are relatively easy to invade for your team, and with burrow you can make it an easy 5v4. It has a lot of bushes for Dehaka to easily rotate and collect essence between lanes. Its great.The only downside for Dehaka on DS is that winning the shrine on top also matters quite a bit and while he is not bad in 1v1s, there are good amount of offlaners who can destroy him in a 1v1.

Cursed Hollow
​
Macro focus, siege giants, a lot of the same as in Dragon Shire. The objective does not split the team the same way as it does on DS but during curses having global is extremely valuable since your team can push very hard on a lane and threaten keep, while the quick rotation speed of Dehaka on sidelines means you are not losing xp and the global means your team isn’t left alone in a 4v5 if they commit everything to defending the push.

Towers of Doom
Might be, in my opinion, Dehaka’s strongest map. The presence of global enables a solid amount of invasion plays on enemy sapper camps, and the split objective means that every time an altar spawns on two other sides of the map, Dehaka will be there to make the objective fight 5v4 way before the global-less enemy offlane can do anything about it.

Sky Temple
Really, most of the things that can be fitted into DS can also be applied onto Sky Temple aswell. It is slightly worse on Sky because Dehaka struggles a bit on capping temples alone due to low single target damage and conditional sustain but his global is even more important since all structure damage matters on the map, and pushing out a lane can be just as valuable as getting an objective.
​
Garden of TerrorMostly he is awesome here. Lots of bushes, large size, macro heavy gameplay etc. You just want to make sure you have another hero in team who is effective at taking camps because Dehaka is not one, and camps are what often decide Garden games. At least he is very good at clearing the enemy camps.

A tier maps

Infernal Shrines
The map has lots of bushes, 3 lanes to soak and moderate macro relevance. One thing that makes Dehaka still a star on the map is his ability to drag shaman camps into towers to instantly clear them. Just because I took him lower than on some others doesn’t mean he isn’t great here, the reason I didn’t put him in S was mostly because he is not the most effective in clearing the extremely impactful objective alone, nor is he very good at dealing with it if enemy gets it.
Where Dehaka really sucks is when he has to fight on an open lane with no bushes, to defend against a punisher or such.

Tomb of the Spider Queen
Historically this is a bit controversial take due to the map’s small size. Which is true, it is against Dehaka’s global value. it doesn’t mean though it isn’t immensely relevant on the map, since it can be used to prevent the good old boss cap strategy of taking bot camp, and moving to boss as enemy has to deal with a siege camp.
Aside from that, due to its small size however Dehaka can stack essence extremely quickly, and the quantity of bushes makes him a danger everywhere on the map even without his global.
Dehaka is a very hard to gank offlane, which means gems collected by Dehaka are far more safe than on some other popular offlaners.

B tier maps

Battlefield of Eternity
​
Not the best map for him, but playable. The objective sucks the same way as it does on IS and it is more early game heavy. The distance between lanes makes essence management much more difficult.Things he does do well on the map though is defending shaman camps, which is more valuable here than any other map in my opinion. The middle of the map is also riddled with bushes, giving him a ton of opportunities to position properly and getting good drags in. The distance between lanes does also mean the bottom part of the team can play much more aggressively for camps since the global does threaten a constant 5v4.
Alterac Pass
​
I hate playing Dehaka on Alterac, but it could be worse. Little amount of bushes makes rotating extremely hard and dragging camps to towers is often of low value. Additionally, taking camps is of a high value and Dehaka really does not do it well on Alterac. The one thing Alterac has going for him is its large size, and the few bushes it has are around objectives so he can still sidepush and join for a fight.

Braxis Holdout
Dehaka typically isn’t awesome due to the difficulties of gaining essence, relevance of winning point on top lane and lack of siege giant/shamans. The bonus is, if you do win the point its fairly easy to win the bottom point aswell due to using global after bullying the enemy offlaner away from point.

D tier maps

Volskaya Industries
​
No bushes, small size, mostly item based camps. Unless Dehaka is the only hero you play, I’d not recommend picking him here.

Base Kit tips

Drag [Q]

• This ability is what most often will win games. Its the longest CC on a basic ability and it has a reposition to boot. Unfortunately, it is also one of the harder parts of playing the hero. Some tips regarding its use;
• While dragging someone, you can still auto attack even if it hurts your movement slightly. In 1v1 it is pretty much always worth it though since good part of your 1v1 damage does come from AAs.
• Drag cannot be cancelled, and you cannot cast E while dragging. Hence recommended to not do reckless drags on low hp while your E is still up.

Mercs
​
As I eluded earlier, you don’t have to be the one to deal the actual damage to mercs. You can also drag them into towers and forts for a faster clear. The damage of the drag isn’t high, 160 at a base (159% of one AA), but it is big enough that if you know you are going to base to get mana or you won’t be needing it any time soon, using drag for damage on PvE does increase your clear speed. It is mana intensive, which is why I excluded its use to the two scenarios above.
​
Landing drags on heroes

• You don’t have to fish for one. If you can start a fight with a clutch drag that is great. But usually if every other hero is just posturing, that drag is going to get interrupted quickly. It can be good to wait for a bit of chaos to happen so people are less focused on the Dehaka and will have harder time dodging it.
• In general, targets that are walking towards you are the ones that are easiest to hit. If someone is dancing sideways in front of me, I dont have to use it yet.
• Holding the drag: Sometimes not pressing Q when you have it up is more potent than pressing it. It happens quite often on offlane and in teamfights that people are so focused on dodging drag that they are walking in circles in awkward positions eating tons of damage. At some point, after they have taken enough they have to walk away in a straight line - which is when they are an easy grab.
• Use your E. I’ll go over more of this in talents, but you can set up an easy drag on anyone with the use of the level 4 talent ‘’Lurker Strain’’.
• While dragging someone, you can still auto attack even if it hurts your movement slightly. In 1v1 it is pretty much always worth it though since good part of your 1v1 damage does come from AAs.

Dark Swarm
​

• Mostly used for waveclear, but it does have a few other applications. Post 13 it also becomes your damage and your slow, and you have to use E less for drag setups.
• Against certain heroes like Leoric for instance being able to pass through heir hitbox has some significant advantages. The downside is, you cannot bodyblock while using the ability.

Burrow [E]

• A good bit of this one’s utility comes from the level 4 talent.
• If playing without the level 4, this is mostly the panic button to use in order to dodge a skill shot, or to buy time for your trait to regenerate you to higher health. Your W does deal damage while you are burrowed, so you can use it while clearing waves in order to dodge spell power reductions from Blaze Qs and such.

Essence Collection [D]
​

• Easily the most overlooked and most screwed up part about playing Dehaka. Using 50 essence restores about 61% of Dehaka’s max health. Going to fight without it is like entering one with 40% hp and the healer cannot even patch it up.
• One should never look to enter a fight unless absolutely necessary without essence. If an objective is on its way, it's better to not just directly trade into the enemy offlane just so you are not forced to use your trait before a fight. If I am low on health, I rather use HS and then burrow to the objective (or waddle back to lane first to force the enemy to play aggro on the objective).
• One minion wave gives 14 essence. Even if forced to use essence, if the map is small enough there is a shot you can collect it back before it's too late. Three waves are usually sufficient, getting you to 42 essence. If you are not double soaking in the early game (often due to having a bad lane match up or having to clear camps on a big map), around 1:30 you can use your essence and then unbind the ability until the next objective.

Brushstalker [Z]

• The other easily screwed up part about the hero is the use of global. It is not often correct to use it to get to a lane in order to soak, you have your movement speed for that. When used aggressively though, you can use it to start a teamfight from a position where your drags are much harder to deal with.
• Even when not used, it provides value. As long as your Z is up, the enemy cannot reliably invade your camps (or well, it isn’t smart), you can force the enemy to play objectives more aggressively than they would want to by remaining on side soak before burrowing.
• Situationally it can be used like this if there is a large wave and you know there won’t be an objective coming in the next 70s and the camps are down (especially relevant on ToD) but generally I’d advice learning to save burrows for aggressive usage, and shifting rest of the playstyle to be more macro focused.
• Using Z does remove you from the game for 1.5 seconds allowing you to cleanse most debuffs and avoid Chromie loop if your E is off CD.
• There is an odd interaction that allows Dehaka to clear Chromie loops and avoiding Dots without committing: If you self cast Brushstalker while in a bush, or click the bush location within your own unit radius, the ability is not put on cooldown when used but it still puts you in stasis / removes harmful effects. This is a fairly niche trick but useful when it comes up. I am not sure at this point if this borders bug abuse since blizzard is fairly unclear on what are intended interactions and part of the balance, looking at you Samuro and hearthstone teleport tricks.

Talents / Builds breakdown

To start off, different builds have different values on different levels of play. The build I pick most of the time is immensely powerful in diamond, master and GM SL aswell as competitive. It is equally powerful in lower ones, but some other builds also become better there (Such as the W build). The % mentions are just my rough estimates on how often I pick a certain talent.

Level 1
​
Enduring Swarm - 2%

• This is a good talent. It does make Dehaka a lot more durable, it gives him extra duration on W which has some synergy with Hero Stalker.
• The downside is that it cripples his rotations and lethality of his burrow flanks somewhat substantially in comparison to Enhanced Agility. As it is, Dehaka is extremely durable already and while extra sustain never hurts, there is a point where other aspects should be considered.

Enhance Agility - 96%

• On every map where Dehaka is great, this is awesome. It enables all the rotations between lanes for easy essence gathering, it has great synergy with the 13 talent due to increased duration. In teamfights, this is what allows Dehaka to easily get into positions where drags are easy to land.
• Completing it early is nice, but it isn’t something to be too fussed about since the baseline version of it is already great.

Tissue Regeneration - 2%

• Technically the best for pure 1v1
• I consider this a bit of a training wheels talent, since it does make gaining essence much more easier and the increased. I do pick it still on Braxis just for the increased lane sustain to cover for lack of essence from double soaking. It is not bad on BoE either but Enhanced Agility is also really good on it for the amount of bushes.
• Has synergy with Primal Rage due to increased cap on essence.

Level 4
Lurker Strain - 95%

• This might be the most powerful talent on Dehaka, bar none. Not just the level 4. To paint a comparison, imagine getting E.T.C W with a massive slow, greater knockback, higher damage and stealth from just a level 4 talent. However, it is also the hardest talent to play since it helps you in no way in essence management and it is more complex in its use than the others
• Works extremely well against heroes that are weak against displacements and is very insufferable for several tanks such as Diablo and Varian. If there is ever a moment when Diablo sees a good wall stun, Dehaka can use E preemptively and just stay hidden for your team to reposition to a better spot. If Diablo charges, his Q (or if you miss it, his E) gets interrupted and he will be slowed with no mobility in a bad spot, ready to be dragged to his death. Into Diablo it has extra value since the stealth makes it so he cannot use Q on you.
• Onto heroes like Imperius and Thrall, it's good to use whenever they press their limited time window damage abilities (E’s on both of them). The displacement tends to ruin their effective teamfight window. Even getting a spear through to anyone as Imperius gets complicated. To Yrel, you can use it to interrupt jumps easily even if she is positioning behind minions. This is also one of the few ways to somewhat reliably get drags on the more elusive divers.
• The other good thing about it is that it really makes your kill pressure less reliant on drags. If you have Enhanced Agility you can often position yourself in places easily where you can knock one target towards your team while moving everyone else away. It is extremely potent with heroes like Stukov and Malfurion with powerful consistent AoE effects you can knock them into. On BoE, immortal stuns become your best friend.
• Akin to Mighty Gust, the daze duration as the opponent has no control over their character is always the same regardless of the distance travelled. It is not terribly long duration knockback, and characters have a few frames to press a button that would move them from the drag. However, if Dehaka does push them against the wall, even the slow missile speed of drag is fast enough to confirm a drag to land on any target before they can teleport away.

Hero Stalker - 3%

• A great talent, shame about its tier. This is often what wins games in lower ranks where teamfights last for a long time and using this alongside Symbiosis can grant Dehaka several health bars in a fight. This talent makes the hero a lot easier to play.
• While it is great in lower ranks, there is a bit of an unfortunate side effects to this; Very often when I see Dehaka’s play with this talent the idea that they can get essence without soaking leads them into not soaking. You still should not arrive to fights with no essence because they can still do a blow up before you can get enough of it, and you should still make use of your global presence and soak sidelines. The talent makes some bad habits far less punished creating the illusion that the other options are worse when they are tried.
• Great into Samuro for fairly obvious reasons

One-Who-Collects - 2%
​

• Used to be my go-to until Lurker Strain was buffed. The effect makes gaining essence much easier and allows making trades on offlane. I do recommend this one if you are learning to play the hero and managing essence isn’t yet your strong suit. It teaches less bad habits than Hero Stalker and gives him some extra merc clear which is nice.
• On Alterac I listed this as a situational pick since you are doing a lot of offsoaking and potentially have to be the one to split to defend the camps as an objective spawns. Enhanced Agility is not recommended on the map so its much harder to get into good positions for your E knockbacks in the early game. Lurker Strain is still very good on the map.

Level 7
​
Feeding Frenzy - 98%

• Drag is insanely powerful as it is, and this makes it so it becomes even stronger and more spammable. The extra 0.5 second duration is a long time to suffer when you are being dragged into a worse position. The CD starts immediately after landing a drag so you can already prep your next drag during the old one with AAs.
• If you miss a drag, you can hit walls and minions to get it back up faster. Without this talent I’d recommend skipping trying to do fish kills with a drag entirely since missing it gets heavily punished and confines you to being a standing duck for 14 seconds. This also applies to playing several lanes, you should always look to AA whatever you can safely to reset drag CD as quickly as possible.

Symbiosis - 2%
​

• The core talent of the W build. It makes your W spammable which has natural synergy with all the other W talents. Downside is, it doesn’t actually reduce the W’s mana cost and spamming W can quickly drain your mana bar.
• The upside of this build is that it gives Dehaka great damage numbers in games where focus fire is less precedent, it gives him much greater sustain which also matters more in games with less focus fire and it makes him reasonably useful with little skill involved. Its great into melee comps but…in order for it to be really good you need Hero Stalker and Lurker Strain also happens to be extremely powerful into melee comps. I do recommend this for beginners and plat and below SL.
• Into Samuro it is almost a necessity in order to be able to sustain the pressure, which is where I still lock it.

Paralyzing Enzymes - 0%

• This is terrible. Dehaka has reasonably good shot at holding on to gambit stacks but the damage over time in team fights is rarely more useful than the extra duration & fishing potential of Feeding Frenzy and less impactful in 1v1s than the CDR.

Level 10

Isolation - 100%

• High skill high reward skill shot.
• 3s silence and slow is often as good as a kill when used in a right spot. One easy way to land one is right after landing a drag when they are close and have to run away, but into some heroes I’d recommend the opposite. Especially into brightwing. If she doesn’t die during the drag she won’t die at all due to blinking away. While the drag stun and silence will mostly overlap, the isolation’s vision removal does have a side effect of being unable to press Z or Blink Heal for 6 seconds. The 30% slow on the isolation also makes drags a lot easier to land if you do manage to secure an isolation.
• The ability does have a high delay and moderate travel speed, which is why its often great as a follow up. Alternatively if you have trust on your aim, using Z to join a fight as your team is engaging and going straight for the Rehgar from flank for instance to put him of a 6s timer of no Ancestral is fairly effective if your team lacks the tools to kill a target before an ancestral would land.

Adaptation - 0%
​

• Too slow of an effect just to add more sustain to already a very high sustain hero.
• Low ranks and for beginners this can be great since the focus fire will often be more forgiving, allowing this to trigger on time.

Level 13
Ferocious Stalker - 93%

• Massive power spike.
• This allows your W to instantly clear waves. It allows you to do big enough damage to threaten a solo kill on a flank, and it gives you access to very easy slow so you don’t have to use other tools to confirm drags. If you are clearing waves, this it is almost always worth the detour to move to a bush and trigger this. Assuming you have Enhanced Agility that is. The talent isn’t worthless and sometimes even worth picking without it, but it becomes much more consistent with it.

Primal Swarm - 4 %

• If I am playing the hero stalker build , I might consider this. But on top of Samuro, it gains a bit of extra value against heroes that naturally have armor like Deathwing. It sucks enough to play Dehaka into DW but this makes it a bit more tolerable.

Primal Rage - 3%

• Need to still win point on Braxis? This is awesome. If you are in BoE and your team decided once again to draft 0 race and you don’t have enhanced agility? Great. But it is often the option to pick when you are in a situation you should not be in to begin with.
• Has synergy with Tissue Regen due to having a higher cap on the AA damage

Level 16

Elongated Tongue - 0%

• Potentially good,
• Most of the value of this talent comes from the fact it is not meta and people misjudge the drag range. The issue is that Drag has fairly slow missile speed and usually isn’t very reliable on max range to begin with - and it is even more unreliable on a higher range. Drag is still a powerful enough ability that this talent cannot be called bad.

Pack Leader - 0%

• A fairly worthless option.
• Has synergies with the AA build but it does also have some issues. You need to use bushes to get value out of this, and if you are able to do so you often want Enhanced Agility. Meanwhile the AA build is fairly reliant on Primal Rage that kind of wants Tissue Regen instead of agility to function. The temporary AA speed increase is fairly low, and while the armor is nice we don’t need to pump the hero’s sustain upwards much more.

Tunneling Claws - 100%

• An insane talent. It makes Dehaka much harder to kill and near impossible to gank (especially when combined with Lurker Strain). But on top of the defensive elements, the kill potential of being always able to move to a position where the knockback effect of E is just perfect is the greatest draw. My usual sequence when killing a frontliner post 16 often is Drag -> move back -> E to their other side -> knock the kill target back to allies and push everyone else away from helping.

Level 20
​
Contagion - 99%

• If Isolation is good, up to 5 isolations is also good. Tanks get a nasty habit of trying to peel for their backliners from isolations by blocking them and this puts a stop to that. You don’t need to hit many targets for it to be great, a single isolation effectively puts 1 person out of a fight for 6 seconds. If you hit it on even 2, you are likely to win the fight if you do it early and they cannot all just back away.

Change is Survival - 0%

• If you pick Adaptation, this is reasonably good.

Essence Claws - 1%

• The effect is nice, but usually just nice isn’t enough to compete with a threat to silence an entire enemy team.
• You do have other slows as it is, and requiring the AA targets to be heroes makes it fairly inconsistent to use. I pick this mostly if we are ending the game and Isolation happens to be on cooldown.

Apex Predator - 0%
​

• Just a worse version of Epic Mount of Falstad, and even that has fallen off the meta. The reason why Epic Mount is still situationally viable at places is that the talent is on a hero that is not vulnerable when threatening a core with no bushes around, one that has solid siege damage on structures and the global can be used to go to core aswell as for moving out of there.
• Meanwhile Dehaka cannot really do the same shenanigans as Falstad to the same extent even with this talent. He can move only away from the core, and he is extremely vulnerable to getting rotated there if the enemy has any interrupts to Z.

Thrall

• Thrall does not have really high clear, and his damage window is heavily limited by his windfury. If you use E and knock him back when he does windfury, or drag him, he will often be forced to tank minions while trading negatively against you.

Imperius

• Once again, the key is the use of E. His damage window is often limited to his Q + E window. If you knock him back as soon as he uses E, he loses his sustain. After 7 it gets much easier since you don’t just have to rely on your burrow to deny it.

Illidan

• For all his mobility, Illidan is fairly easy to drag. And I am not saying to try to drag him as he is attacking and jumping about, save it for when he uses Q. The windup on the ability is long enough that you can land if by aiming it on your other side as soon as he uses it.
• If he does not use Q, you can make the drags easier to land by backing off and forcing him to run into you for an easier target.

Leoric

• Every second drain can be canceled with E and you just need to dodge half of them to come out ahead. Leo E has 10s CD while Burrow has 17s post level 4 so the time window is also limited for Leo to land the drain.
• As I alluded to earlier, using Swarm during this timer to stack with his hitbox makes it hard for Leo to land a drain, but admittedly it is not the easiest thing to pull off as Dehaka either.

Artanis

• Artanis' shields and Dehaka's low single target damage do not go well together. In order for Dehaka to do well on the lane, they need to count the CD left on Artanis shield and aim drags to land when he cannot get a shield up.
• Artanis cannot really recover from taking big hits due to lack of self healing mechanics, so while Dehaka is outtraded in the short run over longer period he can be taken down. Just don't trade with him right after his shields reset.

Yrel

• This is a match up where both need to play smart. Yrel can deny Dehaka’s clear by timing a D + W as soon as Dehaka presses Dark Swarm, and Dehaka can deny Yrel’s clear by using E and Q to interrupt jumps and Q casts
• E does have a mini stun to it so it does interrupt all the casts. The match up really comes down to who bothers the other more on the clear. Both of the two have fairly scuffed single target damage so the wave management is usually what makes the difference in clear

Sonya

• You can technically deny all her healing and clear if you are good enough with drags.
• Her hitbox is fairly small on bruiser standards (only 0.75 - for sake of comparison, Dehaka’s is 1.0 and Leoric's is 0.81) with extra movement speed and she can do the same to your drags as you can do to Leoric by spinning on top of your hitbox. In a pinch the E also does interrupt her spin.
• If she picks Wrath you are done 1v1’ing.

Murky

• I am not trolling when I say this but a good murky is the bane of Dehaka on lane. Dehaka is very prone to getting kited by slows and his low single target damage doesn’t really put a dent on Murky’s hp regen, and he clears the wave slower than a murky does.

As per usual, hopefully someone got something out of this. It has been a while since I written my last write up on bruisers. If there are any other particular bruisers people would want to see me make a write up on, do mention it. (I had to repost this due to reddit markdown acting stupid).

There's been much talk about BL's potential as a driver of tourism. And it's evident, as some of you have shared your stories here in this sub, while others have asked for help planning upcoming trips. But there still appears to be a lack of easily accessible information for people visiting Thailand for the BL. Here's an attempt to remedy that, with this guide to visiting Thailand for BL fans. I've taken the liberty to incorporate suggestions from several previous threads here, as well as various other sources, so thank you to everyone who's contributed to the discussion.

First things first

This will only touch on things specifically of interest to BL fans. For the other aspects of your trip, including most basic planning stuff, please consult the usual travel resources.
That said, firstly you'll want to consider the purpose of your trip, and how much of it you want to dedicate to BL stuff. Do you just want a regular vacation, with a side stop for some merch, or are you here to relive the all the scenes from your favourite BLs? It's very possible to come up with a weeks-long itinerary of nothing but BL locations, and you could spend as much time mall-hopping to catch artist appearances, but Thailand also has a lot of other things to experience, whether you want to stick to the major attractions or go off the beaten track. It's all up to you.
Also, this probably goes without saying, but if you want to attend a specific event, be sure to plan around it and make travel arrangements accordingly. Concerts and fan meetings usually have tickets go on sale a couple of months in advance at most, so you'll want to have flexible options if you book your travel and accommodation before then.

Destinations

Most of the BL-related things you can do will be concentrated in Bangkok, so it's where this guide will be mainly focused, but there are also several provincial locations that have featured in BL, especially Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai in the north and Phuket in the south, all of which are major tourist destinations in their own right. Series have also spent time at plenty of beaches and resorts (particularly around Hua Hin and several towns in Chonburi province) as well as other popular excursions, most of which are short trips from Bangkok. Further out are the island resorts of Koh Samet, Koh Tao and Koh Lanta. The north-east Isan locations are rather off the tourist trail, but could well be worth the experience if that's your style of travel.

Getting immersed

Arriving in Bangkok, one of the first things you'll notice as a fan of Thai BL (or Thai dramas in general) is that you're surrounded by familiar faces everywhere, on banners and billboards and the back of tuk-tuks. Although BL actors aren't that well known among the general public (a surprise to some), the better known ones have a ton of brand endorsements and appear in ads for all sorts of products. Even if you're not planning your trip around BL, spotting actors you know in ads and fan projects can be an entertaining pastime.
Head into a 7-Eleven and you're pretty much guaranteed to see faces you recognize, perhaps on products you're already familiar with from all those series sponsorships and product placements. If the advertising worked and you're dying to know what that bottled green tea or that seaweed snack tastes like, this is your chance to give them a try.
Speaking of tasting, you'll probably be sampling plenty of Thai food while here, so why not include some of the food and drink items from the series you remember, be it som tam from What Zabb Man, the traditional desserts from UWMA, or the famous pink milk, known here as nom yen?
Meanwhile, if taking public transport, spend some time watching the people and see how BL imitates real life. Do you recognize the colours of the school uniforms? Or the university students in their white shirts and black slacks? You might even come across some engineering students in their workshop overshirts.
If you miss hearing the Raikantopeni disclaimer at the beginning of shows, be sure to turn on the TV to catch it as they air live. Be aware though that following shows in Thailand will be more difficult than at home, as they won't have subtitles on TV or on most local streaming services, so you'll likely need a VPN.

Merch stores & fan hangouts

This might be a bit of a letdown, but apart from GMMTV's, there aren't really any physical stores for official merchandise. But since you'll be in the country, you could check with your accommodation to see if they can arrange to accept local package deliveries for you, so you can place some online orders and avoid the international shipping fees. Be sure to check the processing and delivery times - this might be tricky (and won't work with pre-orders, only in-stock items).
GMMTV's shop is not a traditional giftshop as one might assume, but more like a kiosk at their office on the 30th floor of the GMM Grammy Place building - there's just a small product display and a cashier window. Apart from buying products, there's a good chance of running into some actors when visiting, though you're not allowed to linger and there's nowhere to hang out apart from some cafés on the ground floor. You will likely spot some fan-project displays (as mentioned above) outside and in the building, and the cafés will often have cup-sleeve giveaways by fans. Elsewhere, there's Wab Cafe' and Friends, by the Studio Wabi Sabi people. It's a café, so you'll be buying drinks there rather than merch, but it's very much a space created for fans, and there will often be something going on like fan projects and giveaways, or maybe mini-events with actors making an appearance. It's in RCA, Bangkok's main clubbing neighbourhood (and home to studios where many productions hold their workshops), which takes a bit of an effort to get to, but it's also probably the most dedicated hangout space for BL fans there is.
From Star Hunter, there's Hunter Village, a studio space (mostly used for dance classes) in MBK Center, one of Bangkok's most popular malls. It's a mostly open space, so you'll be able to see if there's someone coming in or something going on, but I'm not sure if it's really somewhere you can hang out at.
Other than that, quite a few actors have their own cafés or some other business, which you might want to visit to support them directly. Clothing and fashion items (perhaps from brands with your faves as presenters) may also be something you'd want to go shopping for.
For manga and anime (including BL/yaoi) there's an Animate store (the specialty chain from Japan), also at MBK Center. In addition to imported works, they also have an extensive Thai section, with both translated and original works.
If you want to observe the Thai novel scene, just walk into any major Thai book store, where you'll likely find rows, maybe entire shelves, of BL novels, prominently displayed - BL has very much gone mainstream in the Thai publishing industry. You'll also find glossy magazines featuring actor photoshoots here. You'll have less luck finding English translations, though, as most translated works are e-book only. For English-language (and Japanese) books in general, your best bet is Books Kinokuniya. They do have Japanese and Chinese translations of some Thai BL novels, as well as the English manga versions of SOTUS and Manner of Death, at international prices.

Catching events

Seeing actors up close (or at a distance) in real life will probably be the BL highlight of your trip for many of you. And unless you're ultra specific as to whom you want to see, there are ample opportunities to catch these actor appearances.
The biggest experiences will of course be the major events - concerts, fan meetings, and the like - that you'll have to buy tickets for. As mentioned above, you'll have to plan around them if you want to attend (which also limits how long you can plan in advance), and make sure to actually get those tickets. They're usually announced very publicly, so it's hard to miss them if you follow the usual news update channels. If you're around when one takes place but can't attend, it can still be worth dropping by if you want to get hold of the merch or just check out the crowds.
For more casual fans, you'll still have plenty of chance to see actors at smaller events, as there's pretty much always something happening somewhere, though there might not be much choice on who you get to see. These events vary a lot in scale, and can be anything from product launches to movie premieres. Most artist's agencies will announce them on their social media channels, usually on a weekly basis, and fan accounts may help share and/or translate them. You'll have to follow them to keep updated.
Most of these events will be held in Bangkok's plethora of malls. The biggest ones are mostly lined along the BTS Skytrain's Sukhumvit Line, so if you plan to do a lot of mall-hopping, whether for events or just shopping, consider getting accommodation with easy access to the BTS for convenience. Those who're aiming for them probably won't need this guide anyway.)
Aside from these specific events, there are also annual book fairs that are partially or directly BL-related, where actors from various agencies may make appearances. The mainstream National Book Fair and Book Expo are usually held at the beginning of April and some time in October. Since last year, BL novels and publishers have had a large presence there, and GMMTV actors made daily appearances with fan gatherings in the car park. There are also smaller book fairs directly focusing on BL: Y Book Fair in July, and International Novel Festival at the end of November. They also feature actor appearances, but can also be worth seeing just for the atmosphere if you're interested in experiencing the literary BL scene here.
On the other hand, to experience more of the community side of the fandom, you might want to check out some fan-held events, such as the birthday projects that fan clubs often do, which may be in the form of café galleries or mini-gatherings. Info will mostly be on Twitter, though it may not be readily translated.

Visiting filming locations

If BL inspired you to make the trip to Thailand, no doubt you'd be interested in visiting some of the filming locations yourself. But while some of them are traditional tourist attractions in their own right, most aren't normally on the radar for general visitors, so it'll take a bit of investment (in time and travel) to include them in your trip.
If there's a single most iconic location to recommend, it must be the Rama VIII Bridge over the Chao Phraya River, which shows up in more BLs than anywhere else. So far, it's been seen in SOTUS, SOTUS S, Gen Y, Tonhon Chonlatee, I Promised You the Moon, My Ride, Enchanté, Cutie Pie, KinnPorsche, Even Sun, 2 Moons: The Ambassador, and Boyband. It's not really a tourist attraction, but it's a major landmark of modern Bangkok that everyone knows, and isn't too hard to get to. It's a bit of a walk (some 15 minutes, or just take a tuk-tuk) from either the Phra Athit or Thewet Pier if you're coming from the main riverside attractions and use the Chao Phraya Express (or Tourist) Boat. If you're into financial history, the Bank of Thailand Learning Center and museum is right next to the bridge. Otherwise, Suan Luang Rama VIII Park by its base is also nice, and also a filming location. The bridge itself is most photogenic at night, but make sure you have transport back if you stay late. Consider one of those dinner cruises if you want to experience it from the same angles as KinnPorsche and Cutie Pie.
For other locations, you'll need to do some research. If there's a specific series you want to follow, try searching to see if someone has already compiled a list of locations, which is likely the case for the more popular series. Most info will be on Tumblr or Twitter.
Filming locations may be public places, shops and businesses, private establishments, or purpose-built or converted studios, so remember to think of their ability to welcome visitors. Dress appropriately for the venue, take care to respect their regular functions, and be considerate to other people. Some of the most familiar locations are university campuses, and the grounds will generally be open to the public, but they're not usually equipped to deal with large numbers of visitors. So if you do visit, have fun reliving those memorable scenes but make sure not to disturb the real students who are there for class. Meanwhile, cafés, bars and restaurants would surely welcome your patronage, but please do not snoop around private offices or people's homes. It all boils down to following common sense, really.
A lot of the locations will be quite spread out and some distance away from downtown, so you'll have to plan carefully if you want to hit more than a few. You might want to hire transport for the day, but also take the traffic into consideration.
If you've always wanted to sleep in the same room that your favourite characters lived in (or at least an identical one), you might be in luck. Some of the apartment locations may have rooms available for daily renting, so check with them. As above, though, their location can be rather inconvenient transport-wise. On the other hand, you might want to opt for the hotels and resorts that featured as locations, which will be better equipped with tourist facilities.
For houses specifically, I have a post on The houses of Thai BL. Most of them are private property rented out as studios, but some will be happy to accept visitors (for a fee) on their off days. Contact their management to see if a something can be arranged. Or if you're serious about it and ready to pay, just rent the place at full price for your own personal photoshoot. If you try it either way, do let us know how it turns out. On the other hand, Wawa House (To Sir, With Love) has a café for visitors, Slōlē (Golden Blood, Bite Me, Enchanté, The Tuxedo, The Eclipse) is a real-life café when not filming, and Red Brick Kitchen (Not Me, KinnPorsche, War of Y) features a chef's table dining experience (reservations only, 4 persons minimum).

Colourme-feral on Tumblr has an incredible Google Map that plots locations from several series, and more in their blog, which a lot of the above is sourced from. For Bad Buddy specifically, Telomeke-bbs on Tumblr has a series of posts that analyse the locations at an insane level of detail.
I'm sure I haven't covered nearly everything in this post, so please feel free to add your suggestions in the comments. Genre: First person, point and click adventure (I think, has some puzzle aspects but not the core genre)
Estimated year of release: 2000-2010
Graphics/art style: Very stylised, not realistic, but still looked like it was trying to be a bit gritty and more realistic within its style (designed for older teens i suppose, not cartoony but very obviously stylised), 2D design, definitely gloomy atmosphere, very deserted in game area, mainly shades of red and black throughout the game, i think they portrayed blood in it, that kind of vibe
Notable characters: Played as journalist looking for their lost sister, met various NPCs working in an airport(?) including someone at a bureau de change and various medical professionals and shopkeepers, including a pharmacist.
Notable gameplay mechanics: Again point and click, the usual could pick up objects and show to NPCs, multiple choice dialogue options with NPCs but only 1 was correct (designed to help with modern foreign languages), about halfway through was a listening section, not much fighting, if at all (bit hazy, you might have bashed a zombie or vampire's head in, but it was 1 click and the game did the transition from alive still image to dead still image)
Other details: Apologies for any mistakes etc. About 10 years ago, used to play a game designed for older students to help with modern foreign languages (i used to play french, but I think it did spanish and possibly german as well). The basic premise was you were a journalist, and your sister(?) was missing. You explored an almost abandoned airport, I believe it was almost a point and click adventure with multiple dialogue options with npcs. The only other things I remember about it where that it was mainly coloured in shades of red, and I believe the plot was that the medics present were turning people into vampires (either that or zombies, can't quite remember). Sorry I can't give more information, but none of my friends have any idea what i'm talking about haha.

If we're well past feeling that the movies are in superhero-overload mode, "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" is a film that kind of agrees, laughs off that feeling, and gives us a very good superhero film anyway. Everything that worked in "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" is expanded in this dynamic, imaginative sequel, which takes the story of Miles Morales (voiced by Shameik Moore), an unexpected version of Spider-Man who discovers a multiverse of superheroes just like him, to new heights of action, new depths of emotion, and of course, a large quantity of new dimensions to explore.
The story's gimmick is one that's pretty common within the world of comic books. There are multiple universes, across which different variations of the same hero exist. In the movies, we call such enterprises reboots. In the comics, that's just the way things are. One Peter Parker can exist on the pages of one comic, while a different Peter Parker is having adventures in the other pages of a different book. In a series of co-existing universes such as the one in this film, pretty much anything is possible. "Across the Spider-Verse" takes the idea of limitless possibilities and runs with it.
This one opens with the continuing story of Gwen Stacy (voiced by Hailee Steinfeld), one of the spider-bitten superheroes from another dimension who arrived in Miles' world after a scientific experiment went awry. In Gwen's dimension, she's Spider-Woman, playing drums in a band by day, fighting crime in costume whenever she has a chance, and trying to keep her superhero side gig a secret from her police captain father George (Shea Whigham). In this realm, Peter Parker became a mutant lizard instead, leading to his death during a battle with Spider-Woman and her father's assumption that the vigilante murdered his daughter's best friend. It's complicated.
The first thing to notice here is the extent to which the filmmakers embrace the notions of these different characters and distinct worlds. For the most part, the preceding film had a certain uniformity of design. The style was unique in how it reflected the idea of a comic book brought to life - from being able to see the fine detail of something like dot-print and lines on the characters, to crooked sound lines and on-screen onomatopoeia accompanying the noises of the soundtrack, to split screens and insert panels and text blocks offering little moments of exposition or inner monologue. The rules of visual coherence were tested and ultimately upheld, while the laws of physics were flouted with sublime bravado.
That approach is retained and, indeed, amplified in the sequel to such a degree that, this time, the filmmakers even have the confidence to include more such flourishes. Gwen's world, for example, is a water color-based realm that constantly shifts hues and shape within a scene as a kind of expressionistic heightening of what's happening in any given moment (There's an especially potent effect when, during a heart-to-heart between Gwen and her father, the backdrop begins to melt). From the prologue, we're treated to this bold sense of style, which also allows for Gwen to battle a supervillain who comes from a dimension modeled after Renaissance Italy and has the appearance of a sketch from the era.
For all of the film's breathless chase sequences and hyperactive aesthetic strategies, it also remains surprisingly grounded in very human drama. We can admire the dramatic finesse while also marveling at the unusually offbeat premise and the fount of visual inspiration. There are so many tiny and significant details here that any discussion of the film's look seems destined to become derailed by simply explaining and admiring them. There's a plot to consider, of course, but before getting to that, is it too much to note a few other of those details?
There are a plethora of alternate members of the Spider-Society. One of whom, Spider-Punk (Daniel Kaluuya), has a particularly cunning bit of character design, which incorporates a combination of hand-drawn sketches and magazine cutouts, perfectly matching his devil-may-care, anarchic attitude. Then, there are brief flashes of other worlds, too, that fully embrace various mediums - from stop-motion-animated toys, to a 1930s comic strip, to video games, to live-action flashbacks and cameos to previous iterations of Spider-Man, as well as ancillary characters from those universes.
But I digress. There is a plot to get to. Miles, trying to juggle school and crime-fighting while also keeping his heroic identity a secret from his cop father (Brian Tyree Henry) and his mother (Luna Lauren Vélez), confronts a villain called the Spot (Jason Schwartzman). He seems like a jokey "villain-of-the-week" type, until it becomes clear that the Spot has the ability to travel between dimensions. (Okay, one more comment on design: the Spot has no definition, save for those floating spots of dark matter and the lightly sketched geometric patterns of his body, and he gradually evolves into a graphite-based vision of chaos).
Gwen has been enlisted into an elite group of Spider-People, led by a Spider-Man from the year 2099 named Miguel O'Hara (Oscar Isaac), trying to correct the dimensional uproar caused by the events of the first film. Miles wants in to the group, in order to be close to Gwen and to prove that he deserves to be Spider-Man. But again, it's complicated. When Miguel calls Miles the "original anomaly," stressing that he was bitten by a spider from a different dimension, and was thus never "meant" to be Spider-Man, he rejects the constricting limitations they attempt to set on what he can accomplish.
The film retains its signature tone - moving between humor and sentimentalism with a light touch - but there's a greater effort now to connect Miles' origin story to broader lessons about superhero canons. A canon event is something that happens in every Spider-Man's life no matter what - it's a kind of fatalistic necessity a hero is required to endure in order to actually become a hero. Stopping it from happening can cause the universe to collapse in on itself. Miles feels he can't let this happen, and he's going to have to do something very dark to preserve the integrity of the Spider-Verse. Alas, the movie can't help but adhere to one of Marvel's favorite tactics: eschewing a satisfying resolution in favor of franchise table-setting.
Still, bursting with ideas and visual flair, "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" is an affectionate tribute to the creativity and ingenuity that have kept the comics, mainly of the superhero variety, a mainstay of pop culture for almost a century. The story is preposterously complex, but perfectly comprehensible, whether or not you have studied quantum physics. The scale feels vast, yet the spirit is joyous. It's as if everyone involved had set out to make a Spider-Man film that serves as a testimony to the main character's appeal and versatility, which is exactly what they've done. Rarely has this universe felt so fresh.
