2023.03.22 07:52 redditgirlie777 Lash Tech with Glue Sensitivity

Hi guys!
I’m a lash tech and I absolutely love my job. However recently I’ve noticed that I start to get a really bad reaction after lashing/getting my lashes done.
I get wheezy (I have asthma but it’s usually not a problem) and a runny/stuffy nose. It usually happens a couple hours after I’m around the glue, and goes away after a day.
It happens when I get lashes done as well, but I don’t think I’m allergic to the glue because I have NO issues with swelling/irritation of the eyes.
This never used to happen to me and I’m at a loss about what to do, I love my job and don’t want to have to quit. Has this happened to anyone before? Any tips on how to solve it? I tried lashing with a mask (both surgical and N95) and using saline rinses and noticed no difference.

2023.03.22 07:51 monti_2022 Nreal Air vs ROKID MAX - Should I wait?

After extensive research, I almost ordered the Nreal Air, but since the delivery showed 7 to 8 days (Amazon.com), I decided to wait for the Rokid AR glasses announcement. Now I'm kind of confused which one should I go for. Here's a comparison between the Nreal Air and Rokid Max:
FOV:
Nreal Air has a FOV of 46°, while Rokid Max has a slightly wider FOV of 50°.
The difference in FOV is not significant for consideration.
Refresh Rate:
Nreal Air has a refresh rate of 60hz, while Rokid Max has a higher refresh rate of 120hz.
The Rokid Max has a much smoother and more responsive display, which is particularly important for gaming. I'm not sure if Nreal can push this via software update in future. I know via the developer mode we can push this to 72 hz.
Screen Size:
Nreal Air can project a screen size of 130" in Air Casting mode and 201" in MR Space mode, while Rokid Max can project a screen size of 215" in both Air casting and MR mode.
I think this is a big win for Rokid Max. I wish it was possible to get 201 inch in casting mode with Nreal Air. Perhaps, a software update later?
Brightness:
Nreal Air has a brightness of 400 nits, while Rokid Max has a higher brightness of 600 nits.
The Rokid Max has a significantly brighter display, which can make it easier to see in brighter environments.
Support:
Nreal has a larger community and has been known to have amazing customer support, while the support for Rokid Max is unknown. Nreal's larger community can make it easier to get help as well.
Availability:
Nreal Air is available immediately, while Rokid Max is currently only available for pre-order and will not ship until May 2023.

2023.03.22 07:51 WomenActuallyLoveMe I'm 19 and my abusive stepdad is stalking me

Since I was 4 or 5 this pos abused me on a daily basis, I wouldn't say thank you fat enough and he would slap me across my face Or I would make to much noise and have to apologise and go too bed and look at my wall he even threatened to kill me multiple times strangling me and saying things like "I can push you down the stairs right now and say you fell. I could tie you up and cut you up and Bury you in the back yard tonight and just say you ran away"
Not to mention he molested me multiple times touching my privates grabbing my nipples and twisting them and getting aroused he was a junkie. Addicted to cocaine and more too
You can see how I would have trauma from this About 6 years ago I got away from him and every night I have had thoughts about him nightmares almost every day. Lucid dreams where he would try and kill me or I would have to submit to him.
Yesterday a man came to my door after walking around my house he knocked on the door rang the bell and stood still even with the dog barking he was unfazed just stood still listening for a couple minutes then walked around to the back of our house I went upstairs to look out but he wasn't there.
I am almost 100% sure It's him I haven't seen him since I was 12 I got rid of everything similar to him and I couldn't even say his name without crying
But to get to the point. We have moved house I remember seeing a car follow me a few months ago and now I think it was him. I also think his brother tried to talk with me around the same time I think he has been stalking everyone in the house for a while now and I think he wants to kill someone we have never tried to contact him and changed all our information.
He came to the door with wide eyes and tight like he was going to punch someone the second the door was opened. He was also known for carrying weapons.
It is surreal like something from. A horror movie.
I don't know what to do or how to feel. I am waking up at 2 am covered in sweat unable to sleep properly and now I want revenge But at the same time I don't want to ruin my life I Don't know how someone could do this.
Torture their family and come back years later still pissed off for no reason trying again. It enrages me. I want to make him feel how I felt all those years ago
at the same time worrying what he or his friends will try to do to us I think this trauma will never end
Tldr:
Junkie stepdad somehow found our new address. Came to house high don't know what to do.
He went to prison for drug charges that's the only reason we got away btw. I have a small amount of evidence of the abuse but unsure I will be taken seriously or if I can even do anything since it was 6 years ago.

2023.03.22 07:50 crayonz02 My vet did something to my childhood dog while euthanizing her

This happened in July last year but she had a stroke which left her not being able to walk and had to be carried which eventually ended up with her having discharge coming out her nose and privates. We (my mom and I) took her in and the vet said she would’ve likely passed soon either way so with no warning he had injected her and moved her to the weighing table, he then proceeded to tell us to leave the room and wait. Me and my mom gave each other looks and she left while I stayed with her and the vet told me to leave 2 more times after that which regretfully I did and he closed the door once I got out. After coming back in she was already bagged and had her big ole eyes open so while we were crying the vet was trying to pinch her eye closed. They took her to our car, bag open so her head was bobbing around staring at us since we were behind, after getting home we got her harness and realized that there’s blood on her name tag so we won’t ever know what actually went on in there.

2023.03.22 07:50 soulpotentialacu 10 Common Myths About Acupuncture

10 Common Myths About Acupuncture

Myth: Acupuncture is painful
The needles used in acupuncture are solid (as opposed to hollow) which makes them as thin as a strand of hair or cat’s whiskers. Because of the thinness, some people can’t feel them on insertion. Once the needle is inserted there is no pain. Sometime heaviness or dullness is felt. This is actually a good sign. It is called “de qi” and signifies energy or qi moving in that location.
Myth: Acupuncture is only used to treat pain
Acupuncture is well known for treating all kinds of pain from back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, knee pain and hip pain to name a few. Aside from pain, acupuncture is also effective in addressing infertility, digestive issues, allergies, side effects of cancer treatments, headaches and pregnancy discomfort. Many fertility clinics recommend acupuncture as an adjunct to their treatments.
Myth: Acupuncture is outdated and not recommended
Far from being outdated, acupuncture has been proven in controlled trials to be effective for over 20 conditions. As a result, acupuncture is recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) for those conditions. These conditions include many pain conditions as well as morning sickness, hypertension, malposition of fetus, nausea and vomiting and rheumatoid arthritis to name a few. The WHO have gone even further to recommend acupuncture for conditions where therapeutic effect has been seen but more proof is needed.
Myth: Acupuncture interferes with medication or other therapies
Acupuncture is effective alone or as an adjunct to support other therapies. Acupuncture is commonly used to support IUI and IVF for fertility, to speed recovery from surgery, and to reduce nausea from surgery or chemotherapy.
MYTH: A doctors referral is needed for acupuncture
In MOST cases no referral is needed. There are some occasions where a referral might be needed. Some examples would be if you plan to use health insurance to pay for acupuncture and your insurance company requires it (which is rare), or if you are a veteran and use TriWest health insurance. A referral is required for TriWest to pay for the treatment. Many Veterans Administration doctors refer veterans out for acupuncture to decrease dependency on opioids for pain and for PTSD.
Myth: Acupuncture is not science based or evidence based
Scientists still aren’t quite sure how acupuncture works. As a result, there are more and more controlled scientific studies about how effective acupuncture is and how it works.
Myth: Acupuncture and dry needling are the same
Acupuncture and dry needling may appear to be the same but they are different. The practice of acupuncture involves viewing the body as a whole and deciding what organ or meridian may be the cause of the problem. In this case, a treatment plan is created to bring about healing by addressing the root cause of the problem. As a result, the treatment plan may not necessarily involve needles inserted into the area of pain. Dry needling is also referred to as trigger point needling. This type of needling involves inserting a needle into the area that is causing the pain. Dry needling is only used for pain whereas acupuncture can address a variety of issues in addition to pain.
Myth: Acupuncture needles are single use sterile needles.
Acupuncture needles are never reused. Once they are removed from the patient they are disposed of in a sharps biohazard container.
Myth: Acupuncturists don’t need to know your medical history
Acupuncturists absolutely need to know your history. Acupuncture views the body as a whole system. When considering a treatment protocol the acupuncturist reflects on the history of the patient. The acupuncturist may ask you about conditions that have absolutely nothing to do with your current problem. For instance, if you are seeking help for back pain, you may be asked about your bowel movements or what you eat for breakfast, or how much energy you have during the day and what your sleeping habits are like. Your history gives a bird’s eye view of how your body functions. That helps the acupuncturist to create the right treatment plan for you.
Myth: Acupuncturists aren’t well trained and don’t know much about anatomy, chemistry, pharmaceuticals.
You might be surprised to know, in Colorado, to become an acupuncturist you are required to earn a Master’s degree. Required courses include anatomy and physiology, chemistry, biochemistry, western pharmacology, and western nutrition in addition to many hours spent learning Chinese medicine.
Myth: You can’t tell if acupuncture is working.
There are many ways to practice acupuncture. One of the methods I use in my clinic is called Balance Method. I typically use balance method when a patient presents with pain. As I am inserting needles in specific areas I am expecting the pain to change. After I insert a few needles, the patient will notice that their pain is diminished or completely gone. Also, most people notice a sense of euphoria at the end of their treatment. This is because part of the treatment of acupuncture is to get the patient out of sympathetic dominance otherwise known as “fight or flight”. Creating a relaxing, quiet place encourages the patient to move into parasympathetic dominance, known as “rest and digest”. This is the time when the body can do the work of healing.

2023.03.22 07:50 Competitive_Test_499 wrote this yesterday. someone just please give me some hope.

For some context, I'm a big, hairy, ugly brown girl living in a Chinese majority country. It feels like there's no hope for me to ever experience love.
It's comforting to tell each other that we all deserve love, and that there is someone out there for all of us. While I'm sure that everyone is romantically compatible with at least a few people, fact is not everyone gets the chance to be loved like that. And I'm 99% sure I'm gna end up being (likely already am) a part of this group.
I get that it's normal to have fears of never being loved (again), especially if you have just ended a relationship or something along those lines. And when most people have these fears, objectively we can agree that these thoughts are irrational. But ✨I'm not like other girls, I'm worse✨
I feel like there's this threshold that I fall short of that everyone agrees on. It's based on the way I look, my lack of attractiveness and possibly a kind of disgust that my looks elicit. It makes me less than woman, sometimes less than human. Makes me intimidating, unapproachable. Makes it feel like any move I'd make is creepy, not cute. Never enough to be cherished and held, and always needing to be strong for myself. Acceptable to be fucked sometimes, if the numbers aren't too high. Never to be dreamt of. Never to be wanted. Replaceable. Just background noise. Undesirable. Unthinkable.
Even if by some miracle, some delusional person is willing to look past every ugly part of me, what are the chances they would want to be with me when every fibre in me is inclined to push them away? Why would I want someone I care about to be with me, when they could be with someone they are happy waking up next to? Even if I alter every part of myself to be the best looking version, I'd still feel like any love or affection I get afterwards is invalid cos I'd always doubt whether they would have loved as I am right now. Call me a dreamer, but I don't want love that is conditional on looking a certain way. I could change the way I look on the outside, but I'd always be the same person. The way I look right now is always going to be a part of my identity, no matter what I look like in the future.
It's tough to try and justify the point in living life when you feel like you're not every gna be loved. Even the love I got from my parents had to be earned. It feels cruel because I love love songs and love stories, but I can't hope to be loved. I tell myself to have the audacity to keep living. Live for the small things. Live to not cause shock and hurt. Live to see Ed Sheeran or Bruno Mars in concert one day. Live to travel the world and exist in as many places as I can. Live for the milestones. Live to meet as many wonderful people as you can. But it's tough. If I make a certain decision someday, know that it's definitely not a spur of the moment thing, and it's probably for the best. If it happens, I hope you'd understand.
Funny how things always end up sounding like a suicide note. I'm just sad.

2023.03.22 07:49 thespuzz ‘Valuations of Indian stock market are not expensive from a long-term perspective’

Doshi: It’s very interesting that whatever is happening globally is just reinforcing our thought process and our belief that India is on the right track. We could never have expected such sort of accidents in our system. While we always think that we have regulatory challenges in India, today, I think it is a very big blessing.
I think whatever is happening globally, is just start of a cycle where you will see the pain going on for many years. These are all warning signals for us. But India stands out very well.
Jain: The way monetary policy and banking regulation in India has worked over the last few years has been a typical first world style of functioning, which unfortunately did not happen in the first world. It’s quite an irony.
About a decade ago, perhaps post GFC, in India, we saw fairly volatile times, with weak balance sheets at an aggregate level with huge NPAs building up and current account crisis as well. Post that we’ve seen – both at the government and at corporate level – steps taken to strengthen the structural fabric of India. I think we are just seeing the benefits of that come through. It’s a good thing that we did not let the crisis go waste.
I believe that the next decade is ours for the taking.
Mukherjea: I think every 10 years, America blows up. I don’t think that’s the story of the moment.
You will remember 2023-24 as the year in which the world went to war without weapons. What’s happening between America and China is very serious. And it has huge implications for us as a country. Let’s take two developments.
ASML, a company headquartered in the Netherlands, is the only company to produce ‘extreme ultraviolet lithography’ technology to produce integrated circuits, which play a key role in the global chip supply chain.
The Dutch government, basis the pressure from US, stated a few months ago that there will be no exports of ASML machines to China. The western world, in a way, is saying we will send China back to the stone age as quickly as possible by making sure this semiconductor manufacturing comes to a halt.
The other dimension is in the Pharma industry. When we speak to the western pharma major companies, in which we invested in, all of them say there are clear orders from the powers that be in America to buy less API from China and buy more API from India. Fly to Baroda, Surat or Vapi in India, you will see a whole new industry coming up, which is ramping up API production.
Even if China’s 10% of API production moves to India, our API industry will be doubled.
Also Read : What are the rules that qualify any property as ancestral?
Indian stock market valuations
Doshi: It’s not that our premium has gone up. But it’s just that the valuations of the other countries have gone down. So, our valuations look a bit expensive. But India is charting a growth path of its own.
Could you have imagined that the inflation rate in India would be lower than many parts of the West. I couldn’t have dreamt of it 10 years ago. Further, in the last five years, we are enjoying a corporate tax rate of 25.17%, absolutely undisturbed. Now, isn’t that a very strong promise from our government, to provide consistency and stability?
Shah: Indian stock market valuations are undoubtedly not cheap on a one-year basis. But take a five-year view, and suddenly we are the cheapest among the emerging markets.
Today Maharashtra’s GDP is equal to what whole of India’s GDP was in 2005. The combined GDP of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand is what India’s GDP was in 2001. And three states—Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Karnataka—combined GDP is where India was in 2000. Can we assume that over the next 15-25 years, these states will produce what India is producing today, if all of us continue to work as hard? I think it is eminently achievable. Now, in which part of the world would you see states becoming as big as the country, with reasonable amount of assurance. People who buy into that story will not find India’s valuation expensive.
Jain: In the calendar year 2022, Nifty 50 gave about a 4%-5% return, which sounds unexciting, of course.
But you should analyse the performance of that 50-stock basket by removing the outliers. And you will find that the difference in returns between the best performing and the worst performing stock is 90%. The best performing stock gave you 50%, the worst performing stock was down 37%.
I think it’s important to be able to identify those companies and take advantage of stock selection in order to create alpha and not overly obsess about aggregate valuations, aggregate growth, etc.
Mukherjea: Do a simple analysis. You look at companies that have a double-digit revenue growth and double-digit ROCE (return on capital employed) in the last 10 years. India has 140 such companies and China has 130. Remember, China’s economy is 4-5 times larger than us and still has fewer companies with the growth I mentioned. And there is no other emerging market in that picture.
The Indian companies filtered would have compounded wealth at 24% over the last 20 years, while the Chinese companies would have compounded at 12%. This is the best that China has to offer .
The decade of manufacturing
Shah: The train which we missed in the 80s, where China became a manufacturer to the world and we became back office to the world, is likely to get reversed, in my opinion. It’s not a 1-3 year journey, it’s probably 10-30 year journey. For China, the manufacturing is about 40% of the GDP. India’s manufacturing should grow from below 25% of the GDP towards first 30%, then 35% and hopefully someday to 40%. That’s the story of manufacturing in India.
Be watchful of:
Mukherjea: We need to push up the ante on corporate governance. We have improved vastly from the days of Satyam and the DHFL debacle etc. But I think given the rate at which our country is going, also the rate at which domestic money is coming into big mutual fund houses, we owe it to the investor community both in India and abroad. To push up the ante on accounting, quality and corporate governance is imperative.
Shah: From the economic point of view, we can’t afford to make a self-goal. In 1947, we were at par with Japan in terms of per capita GDP. In the1960s, we were at par with South Korea. In the 80s, we were at par with China. Today, all these countries are way ahead of us. And that’s because they have done many good things. But we have scored self-goals. The best example of Indian self-goal is when Singur, a state in West Bengal, opposed Tata group’s automobile plant in an essentially backward area. They tried for five years, couldn’t do it and finally moved out. They went to Sanand in Gujarat, which is now growing at a healthy rate. If all of India is going to follow a Singur model, it is time to short India. If all of India is going to follow Sanand model, it’s time to go double long India.
Doshi: India runs one big risk of continuity of reforms. We have had extraordinary leadership at the country level, which need to carry on for another one or two terms, I believe. There are a lot of unfinished reforms in many fields such as agriculture, defence, divestment of PSUs. etc. These are some of these big-ticket items that will actually take India to the next level.
Jain: I like to think that we don’t have control over what is going to be the political climate in India over the medium term and also on how regulations will be shaped. But what we can control is identifying companies that will be able to traverse these differing political scenarios, macro-economic situations, and so on and emerge stronger. So, I would as an investor and as a fund manager, only urge that we need to put effort into identifying companies and winners that can go through variables that we can’t control or which we can’t predict.

2023.03.22 07:49 Drava999 Weightlifting and scoliosis?

Weightlifting and scoliosis?
I(15m) have recently been diagnosed by a GP with scoliosis, my xray is in about a month. I noticed it when posing in the mirror, when I realised my shoulder blades were not of the same height.
Reading the posts in this sub, I am honestly quite frightened. I really love weightlifting, and in particular I love the compound lifts. If I cannot squat in the gym, I do not think I really have much motivation to continue doing any form of PT. I managed to hit an SBD of 140, 80 and 150 kilogrammes within 3 months of beginning training, and was planning to compete in powerlifting if I could.
Ive been seeing many posts about how squatting and deadlifting is a big no-no, and that really makes me quite depressed about my prospects for the future. Regarding my symptoms: no pain, no discomfort even on 1rm attempts on squat and deadlifts, my mobility is high, curve is not visible except for uneven shoulders. However situps kinda cause me some discomfort, presumably from my tailbone grinding into the ground.
I do not mind adding a lot of unilateral accessory work along with my compound lifts, but the thought of giving them up totally and not progressing past light weights really saddens me. I am posting this to see if anyone has any opinions at all, regarding any of my points.
Attached is a picture of my back(I have not done my xray as aforementioned, it is next month.)

What is a Crystal Pyramid Stone?

A crystal gemstone in India usually comes with four sides and a flat base with a point at the top. Their shape is referred to as a trisoctahedron or a tetrahedron. Any type of crystal can be used to create a crystal pyramid as they are known to produce vibrational frequencies.
These frequencies further emit energy and produce beneficial energies that help you towards your desire.
Some of the types of crystals used to make a pyramid are clear quartz, amethyst, rose quartz, tiger's eye and more.

What are the Benefits that the Pyramids Offer ?

Besides allowng one to connect with divinity, there are multiple other benefits that the crystal pyramids offer. To be precise, some of them are underlined below.
  • Great for Manifestation
As humans, one might find themselves constantly manifesting their desires. The crystal pyramids are definitely a go to solution as they are known excellent for manifestation work.
They help in increasing energy when a goal is set. One can place it on the top of their working desk or study while attempting to manifest anything that is desired. Undoubtedly, magical things would begin to happen.
  • Increases Vibration
The crystal pyramids produce vibrational energy which you will be impacted with on using them. They release positive energy into the air and then help in reinforcing the ideas and intentions that you may have.

Another way the crystal pyramid can be used is to bring changes into your life. For example, if you want to end a relationship or begin a relationship with someone new, you can visualize it by keeping the flat side of the crystal on your palm and allowing it to absorb all your thoughts. After this, you can put it under your pillow at night before going to sleep.

2023.03.22 07:48 markmark027 Got in a lot of debt & thinking pretty dark stuff lately

So I’ve had a pretty successful freelance career that I worked really hard at. After covid & brexit I lost a shit ton of savings
I used the rest of my savings to move to a new country & also borrowed a lot from friends and family because the market for Industy was changing.
It’s ended up just a ton of bad luck after each other. Jobs cancling. I got sick and my insurance wouldn’t pay leaving me with a big bill etc.
I owe now a shit ton of cash and future rent. It feels like I can’t breath atm and I’m thinking really dark stuff to think of a way to just solve this problem as I can’t work out any other way that’s gonna fix it.
I don’t want to be homeless. I don’t want to not pay back everyone.

2023.03.22 07:48 jbhelfrich Advice on distributing 10g fiber?

I'm about to close on a house and I'm planning on adding networking throughout the place. Unfortunately, it's a very old house, and especially on the main floor still has plaster walls, so I'd like to cut as few holes as possible.
My thought is to use fiber to the various places I want network, hiding them with false moldings, and then do short cable runs to the actual devices. I go back and forth on setting up 10g connections to individual devices (I'm planning on doing a lot of internal servers, but I recognize it's probably not worth it until the PCI 5 drive are actually common and affordable at scale) but I'd like the rooms with multiple devices to not be bottlenecked when we're moving big files around.
But most of the switches only take 1G fiber. I have to go up to the Pro models to find ones that take 10g in, and they're all bigger than I need. The UISP Console is probably closest to what I'm looking for, but, well, not an ISP.
Am I missing something? Is this just not possible?

2023.03.22 07:47 BurntSchmidt Don't Look Behind You, But...

It was a cold winter's night in Freeport. My husband and I were seated watching TV, he in his chair and I on the couch. Across the room (the length of our single-story ranch house), there is a lone window looking directly into the living room from the yard. I noticed the figure approaching slowly before subsequently ducking down so that only the crest of his head down to his eyes was visible. He knelt down and began to watch us. And watch and watch and watch.
My heart began to race, and my blood pressure had catapulted so quickly that my head began to throb and pound, and, despite the internal hurricane taking place, I at first pretended not to notice. I kept my eyes fixed on my husband, chatting and laughing as if nothing horrifying was taking place. I kept the intruder in birds eye view for several minutes, hoping he'd just up and leave, taking no interest in our ordinary, sedate state of affairs. Let me also mention that it was six degrees outside.
I continued on with just the same frame of attitude as the time I was robbed at gunpoint years before. I learned that I have a unique ability to remain externally calm despite the fire in my veins and the quaking of my being. Outside, I'm ice, but inside, I'm a tree shaken of all its leaves. Verily, after about ten minutes (I swear that every time I looked at the blank face and noticed it was still there, peeping in a polar vortex, I nearly screamed) I made a decision. Inside, I was absolutely breaking. Each moment that I turned to the TV and then shifted back, my heart skipped several beats.
Finally, with my face turned away, I said to my husband through my teeth, "honey, do NOT look and do NOT react, but there is a man looking at us through the window right now. Don't look!". Despite my urging, his impulse got the better of him. The moment he rose from the chair and turned, the peeper had leaped from view. I told him we needed to call 911. However, before I could even turn on my screen, the knob to the front door began to tremble and shake convulsively.
My husband commanded me to run to our room, a command which he followed as well, which, in such a tumultuous moment, was our only defense - because by then, the intruder was throwing himself against the front door. The jamb and hinged were audibly cracking, all of the items on the glass living room refectory table had begun to tremble and clatter, and the walls all reverberated thunderously.
With all of my strength (my husband had fused disks in his back, so he was totally incapable of assisting), I grasped the bureau by the legs and with all my puny might dragged the son of a bitch across the floor and finally, in one final throe of desperation, pushed it against the door. In the midst of this midnight whirlwind, the front door had been kicked opened and the footsteps, incredibly heavy ones, had tramped down the hallway as if the footfalls were 200 pound blocks of ice, though it hadnt sunk in until I, fresh out of breath and flushed in icy hot sweat, had tumbled backwards onto the bed.
"I have a gun!", my husband shouted repeatedly as the intruder began throwing his weight against the door. Assuming he might also be armed, we slunk to the far side of the bed and ducked down. I phoned 911, and they assured me the police were currently in pursuit. It's an incredibly small, derelict steel town in Western Pennsylvania, hollowed out by the terminus of the steel boom. The police arrived imminently, but in between the call, the threats, and the arrival of PD, I noticed something strange. Something that truly chilled me to the bone.
At some point, the intruder halted, and in a shrill, gravelly tone that sounded devilishly feminine, shouted a few simple words, which had been repeated several times - "this isn't yyyyyourrrrr house! This is NOT YOURRRR HOUSE!". He pounded furiously on the door as he shouted (if you could even call it 'shouting') these words with an almost compendious conviction. My husband, who at the time had been battling bronchitis, was gasping for elusive gulps of air with such severity, I was afraid he might faint or, worse, succumb to asphyxiation.
In a flash, the police had arrived. The thousand pound footsteps retreated, but not before a throng of screams rang out from the front doorway. Shots were fired, and voices had gone frenetic. I removed the dresser and ran out. An officer was splayed out on his back half in and half out of the house and was screaming, screaming with every fiber of his soul. All I could see was blood everywhere. Smeared on the walls, even.
"Don't come out here!", shouted an officer as he called for a medic. But the image was burned in. The first-responding officer had been slashed from temple to chin, left to right, and was screaming and rolling chaotically, as if he was being immolated and had desperately taken to putting himself out. That haunting vision has only grown stronger and with greater clarity since. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't see the flashing terror in his eyes and the gaping of his mouth as he cried out, "I'm blind! Gary, I'm fucking blind! I'll never see her again! Diane! Diane!"
We watched out the window of the bedroom as flashlights played upon the black, frozen woods like strobes. Seeing them spread so broadly only made my heart sink, and soon after, an officer came calling.
"Do you have a friend or relative you could stay with tonight?".
This being a most disheartening sign, we went and stayed with our son and daughter - in - law for two nights until we could fortify the house with new doors, triple paned windows and a full alarm system. For weeks, months, even, we walked around on our toes while continuously throwing glances over our shoulders everywhere we went, but what was most disconcerting was that we felt more vulnerable locked behind closed doors.
To this day, the intruder hasn't been found. I looked into previous owners of our house. We had been living there 18 years by then, and the scent on the trail of discovery was nonexistent. I still don't know what about our house "isn't" ours, and I'm not sure I want to know. This occurred in 2020, just as COVID had begun to scorch the earth. One thing I know intuitively, however, is that no matter how much time passes, unless I grow a third eye on the back of my head, I will never be comfortable again.

2023.03.22 07:47 Zunthus (ESPR part 2) Frozen Corridors event discussion (MAJOR spoilers up to ch 9.5)

I'll rant before I proceed to the questions as usual lol
Regina and Edel moments in these events, especially the last part was, *chef's kiss* lol
Rivet put it exactly:
this is why i love the trio lol
Luna is also very interesting in the aspect that she's a shadow, a C.O., and yet doesn't crave for bloodlust/eating humans, but she also isn't the nicest person like Lyudmila too (although I'm pretty sure if she wasn't under Maestra she seems kind and playful enough) I really wonder about her backstory on how she became the Trumpeter of Elysium
It's really great on the world building that not all good C.O.s/shadows are always on our side, there are beings like Luna as well, she really doesn't want to fight - it's even mentioned in her skill description lol
Shena and Carmen kept mentioning as well that Maestra changed alot (pretty sure it's due to Revenant in her), or else should would have been alot lot MORE ruthless and coldblooded

Can't have enough of Elizabeth and Horizon roasting each other lol
Really great episode and felt like it's Avengers assembled moment again (wasn't anticipating it because I felt like they just did it not too long ago in the Carnival event) although this is very welcome, and pretty much is like a direct sequel to the Carnival event but tied in with other sidestories&main ones

Felt so good for being able to read this lol

https://preview.redd.it/mz6ni8gej8pa1.png?width=559&format=png&auto=webp&s=968ed29d16fd964b123fae5e165c084e44b1b398

Questions:
  1. Is the MacCready estate in the counterside? Why would Regina's lost ice powers turned into the monster "Chaser" otherwise? Since the story explained that the Counterside effects could manifest in whatever the living being inside is?

  1. what's this "Ritual" that Edel's preparing for Regina? (the one she had the Elysium group help "perform") The one that takes place at the factory in the middle of the sea (in which I understood as it was where Prwyden institute held a large fraction of the Lake of Knowledge that we saw Eliz&Roy's CG looking at it)

  1. i understood that this "Ritual" that Edel prepared for Regina failed? or at least wasn't used..? (as in she didn't partake in it, since she went back home and got new awakened powers herself, or is all of this some kind of Edel's plans? But she doesn't seem to know how Regina is about to threat her with suiciding)

  1. what was the intro/first scene where we first got to use A.Regina? Is this her performing the procedures to become the President back at her homeor was this the part where she came back after awakening and is going to confront Edel after her escape

  1. So Regina died (or is very near of death) back when Harab was controling her back in the strega/A.Yuna's event right?

  1. the 666 people that sacrificed for Regina, were they there because they want to give back Regina's kindness to them during her VP times, or was it Edel's command as the acting president, or a mix of both?

  1. I don't get the law stuff, but why did the Dean of Law let Regina go at the estate? I know she had a grudge because her younger sister was sacrificed, but she too was willing to give Regina a chance to change the Society?

  1. Regina did really write a letter to contain herself right? Knowing that she'll likely forget/supress memories again? (she was really devastated about the meeting it spurred many events after that huh....)

  1. In the end, what factors made it possible for the "awakened" version of Regina? The ritual she performed back in her house, her bloodline being super powerful from the start, her resolve? (usually in other events they got a powerful artifact, tech level 5 gear, or activated/gain control of the qliphoth factors, etc - what was Regina's?)

  1. And why did somehow in the process her emotions were "frozen"? (how? magic/ritual stuff?)

  1. I'm quite confused on Agnes's stance in all of this, so she's secretly trying to get rid of the Society? or have some kind of grudge? or she just wants it to change to a bettemore less people sacrificing like Regina?

  1. Is Sylkie's personality really her original self or the version Regina "imagined" Slykie would be?

  1. Did A.Regina acquire the Lake of Knowledge in the end? or just a big part of it?

  1. I wonder where's A.Regina when the Qliphoth game began and after it started for a while, I remembered in ch9 and/or 9.5 Edel was with Serapel aiding the Knights of Redemption (or was that the period she's still recovering?) and her role in ep10 (if she does appear)

  1. When Edel and Maestra mentioned "thorn" does that mean Revenant? (this implies alot that she's still alive, but inside Maestra) and looks like at the end of this event Maestra already decided on getting rid of Revenant..(can't wait for Carnival part 2.......!!! Also awakened Chris lol!!!!)

  1. does the artifact that is in Curian have something to do with the Elysium? since Shena mentioned it and seemed pretty shock about it when she saw Curian

  1. So...like, seeing how G.A.P. bird aiding Regina so much, A.Regina, the current president is at least on our side....right? at least on the part to contain/limit Edel's movement...somehow..? (I'm confused on what we/the CEO gains from this whole event, other than spying in the movements of Society)

  1. What is Chris to Maestra right now? she seems to be very wary of heoften mentions her (but Chris isn't that powerful? pure strength and power-wise) all I can think of is that she still have lingering attachments to her

  1. Eliza and the team were initially hunting down Elysium with Horizon, but later halted and went somewhere else instead - to help the Enterprise Quad? (or at least they went to help part of the Qliphoth game right? saw them in ep 10, but was wondering where they went in this event after sending Thaddeus to deal with the Society)

  1. Edel's obviously heads over heals for Regina, but what do you think of how Regina viewed Edel? I'm still kinda both happy and confused about this lol

awakened Regina : from sub to dom

A very long event, 7 chapters to read, had so much fun with this! (I read for like 4-5 hours, gradually, I'm a slow reader - enjoyed every single of its moment!)
I really wonder who are the characters with potential for being awakened units next...(after A.Lyudmila)
Last but not the least, playable Heydrich when?

2023.03.22 07:46 AISecurius Hook technology for offensive and defensive confrontation

Hook technology for offensive and defensive confrontation
The principle of sameness and struggle of contradiction applies to almost all offensive and defensive confrontations.
In the last issue, we published How to ensure the uniqueness of device fingerprints when hardware attributes are no longer used as the identifier of device fingerprints". In the article, we introduced the evolution of hardware ID as the basic attribute of device fingerprint - that is, when hardware attribute is no longer used as the unique attribute of device fingerprint, in order to ensure the uniqueness of device fingerprint needs to add more identification criteria and dynamic variable algorithm based on hardware ID, in fact, this is a typical example of attack and defense confrontation .
Let's take another example. For example, in the offensive and defensive confrontation of device fingerprinting, the black and gray industry must "disguise" itself in order to bypass the device fingerprint to carry out attacks. At this point, there are two main ideas for bypassing the black and gray industry.
  1. How to turn a device into multiple devices.
For example, in a swipe scenario, making the app repeatedly think it is a new phone and thus repeatedly receiving the newcomer bonus.
  1. How to turn a device into another device.
For example, in an authentication scenario, the attacker's phone is spoofed to the victim's phone, allowing the app to log into the victim's account and steal funds, user information, etc.
But there is a spear, there is a shield, black and gray industry bypass ideas naturally can not escape the "eyes" of security researchers.
Today, we will talk about the idea of offensive and defensive confrontation with the theme of Hook.

A first look at Hook technology
First, a brief introduction to Hook technology.
Hook technology is a technology widely used in computer offensive and defensive confrontation. It can monitor various event messages in the system or process and intercept messages sent to the target window for processing.
We can simply compare the person using Hook technology to an angler, and Hook technology is like his fishing gear, the events constantly passed in the system is like a swimming fish, the angler through Hook technology will catch the target events he wants (Hook technology is generally directional), then you can modify the events, and then let it run normally, to achieve the purpose of the technical staff. technology is often used in hotfixes online, API hijacking, software cracking and other technical operations.
For example, we commonly use mouse and keyboard, if your computer is Hooked, then it also means that any operation you do is in the hands of the other party.
Hook technology is not only applicable to x86 systems, but also to mobile platform systems based on simple instruction sets, such as cell phones and other devices. Among them, Hook technology for mobile devices mainly focuses on cell phones.
For Android Hook framework, there are three main categories, one is for Native layer, i.e. system layer Hook framework, using PLT/GOT Hook or inline-Hook framework, such as bhook, xhook, yahfa, etc., one is for Java layer Hook framework, such as Xposed, and one is more special Hook framework - Frida, which is designed for the full platform Hook framework for x86 \ x86_64 \ arm \ arm64 architecture of the system, Hook on the iOS side of the main technical implementation through the Frida framework, and Frida in Hook technology implementation on Android also has a lot of audience, but mainly still Xposed class framework, the main reason is that Xposed on Andorid stability is better, and features are easier to hide.

https://preview.redd.it/3lfvltaij8pa1.png?width=706&format=png&auto=webp&s=238fcb90d86f9dc75fbf68e196a892a65268cc22
Next, we'll talk about how to use Hook for offensive and defensive confrontation with Xposed and two other Hook frameworks (Edxposed and Lsposed) that iterate on Xposed as the core.

https://preview.redd.it/sfwi643nj8pa1.png?width=463&format=png&auto=webp&s=82c9de51b0c034e77aac994b2f483751ca2ff0b4
How to do an attack without knowing its attack - how to do an attack with Hook technology?
With the iterative update of Android version, Xposed framework also iterated with the new Hook framework.

https://preview.redd.it/5ogd4j3qj8pa1.png?width=681&format=png&auto=webp&s=ae612af312bada9f29011718aec2f354a9a72b96
At present, the main Hook framework for the Android platform is based on Lsposed, we will use Lsposed to Hook Android applications to see how to use Hook to attack.
First, the normal use of Lsposed requires several pre-requisites.
  • A phone capable of unlocking BootLoaderLock.
  • Prepare the boot.img of your own phone system.
  • Preparing the Lsposed module installation package with the Magisk installation package.
  • A computer with ADB tools installed.

https://preview.redd.it/94jchrzvj8pa1.png?width=385&format=png&auto=webp&s=4e2bcb1549d361df079a4af24008716abd689f9f
After the above conditions are prepared, you are ready to install and use Lsposed.
Once the installation is complete, we can use Hook to carry out the attack.
The specific process is as follows.
1. Decompile and analyze the target app.
To get the fish on the hook you have to know the properties of the fish. So the first step to successfully install Hook is to decompile and analyze the target app. Here we use jadx-gui to decompile and analyze the app.
actf decompile
Using jadx-gui we can see the decompiled source code. As shown in the figure below, by decompiling the app we arrive at the action it wants to pass the Flag, but note that this information is an uncertain value and we need to verify it further.

actf run results
As you can see from the verification, no matter how many times you click the button, it will only show "Do you really believe in flags when you click?". This message. So, the next step is to take control of our own "catching" process.
2、Write code plug-ins to attack the "weakness" of the target app
At this point, we need to write a Hook plugin, modify some of its parameters, and then you can directly obtain its already calculated MD5 value (MD5 is an encryption algorithm. Also known as: irreversible encryption algorithm. The MD5 value is the password of any file after encryption of the plaintext password, also known as "digital fingerprint", anyone who has made any changes to the file, its MD5 value is the corresponding "digital fingerprint" will change. (Any changes made to the file will result in a change in the MD5 value, the corresponding "digital fingerprint".) What is it.
First we can use Android Studio or Idea with the Android plugin already installed, open a new project and select a project without an interface:.

New hook project
Note that when writing Xposed Hook modules, in order to be recognized by the Xposed framework, you need to create a file called xposed_init in your project's assets directory (if you don't have one, you can just create a new assets directory) and with the following contents for your package
name + your main class name.

Package name and main class name

xposed_init configuration
Next, open the AndroidManifest.XML file and fill it with the following content.

AndroidManifest.xml project location

AndroidManifest.xml configuration
After configuring AndroidManifest.xml, we can start writing Xposed Hook module. The details are as shown in the figure.

The location of build.gradle in the project

build.gradle configuration
In Xposed, there are two methods of Hook, one is before and the other is after, and the principle of its implementation is realized by the slot of art, which can add two slots before and after the originally called method, and then go to execute our hook, which can be understood figuratively as the following figure.

Changes in method calls before and after Hook
As we can see from the figure, the target App is mainly composed of two parts, the first is the MainActivity main class, and there are two methods in the class, one is the onCreate method, which is a method of MainActivity initialization, and the second is the getFlag method, this method is also our target, by Hooking this method, we can Through this method, we can know what the MD5 value representing the flag is.
Our idea is to Hook the getFlag method first. Assuming we Hook the getFlag method, we are naturally most concerned about the incoming string value, and the specific Xposed module code is as follows.

Hook module code
In this way we can get the MD5 value we want, and then modify the parameters to achieve control of the app.
https://preview.redd.it/zy8t1jmal8pa1.png?width=463&format=png&auto=webp&s=acb1378e25b8287c5a334a5a45bcf4dc1f8f4ef5
How to fight Hook attacks?
As the saying goes, if there is a spear, there is a shield. In response to Hook's attack, a defense has also been derived.
Since Xposed will call a specific ClassLoader when Hooking, then it is possible to detect the Xposed framework by loading the ClassLoader again, for example as follows.

Find ClassLoader
1、Use the system API getInstancesOfClassesMethod to get the ClassLoader, through this way can only get once CL, we can traverse the Classloader used within the App.
  1. After traversing all CLs, we can detect its Hook by its member cache (target Hook method cache).

Get the members of the Hook

Hook members
This detection method relies on the VMDebug.getInstancesOfClassesMethod() function provided by Android system, which only exists on Android 9-11, limiting the application of the solution. Moreover, as a counter-detection method, this key function can also be hooked by Xposed, and you only need to control the return of this function to complete the counter-detection.
In addition to the ClassLoader way to fight against Xposed Hook, there are other kinds of more traditional countermeasures, but they all have corresponding countermeasures, and the top image product has a unique countermeasure, and additional anti-detection and countermeasure technology, which can more accurately identify Hook risks.
Of course, at a deeper level, we can also use Hook technology to bring traditional Web attack techniques to the mobile side, and conduct offensive and defensive exercises in the mobile side to complement the skill tree as a red team, as well as against Hook technology and attackers to safeguard their own App security.
Overall, the offensive and defensive confrontation is a protracted war, requiring the continued efforts of security vendors.
In terms of offensive and defensive confrontation, based on years of technical accumulation, Top Elephant has achieved comprehensive security protection for Android, iOS, H5 and applets, effectively defending against debugging, injection, multiple opening, memory Dump, emulator, secondary packaging and log leakage and other attack threats. The unique "honeypot" function protects 16 kinds of data and files of Android, provides 7 kinds of encryption forms, and takes the lead in supporting source code free reinforcement for iOS.

2023.03.22 07:46 Booyag4life Favorite TAZ Flavor Text?

Hey there, y’all! So like many people here, I’ve taken a lot of inspiration from the adventure zone for my own DMing style. One particular element of Griffin’s DMing I’ve tried to implement is how he does flavor text. There’s something really engaging about how he describes things, and he always has an emotional connection to the sights and sounds.
I was wondering if you guys have any favorite bits of flavor text from any of the Taz series. Always looking to get more quotes that I can use for inspiration! Also, it’s just fun to reminisce. One of my personal favorites is from the final interlude:
“And then we pan up. And we see a Thirteenth Plane descend. It is a disc of shimmering, living darkness, crossed with ribbons of blue, red, green, and gold. It is larger than all the other Planes combined, and as it lowers...slowly...bright white eyes begin to open all along the underside of this Plane — millions of them, burning with malice and hunger, all of them focused inward and down, back down, all the way down to the Bureau of Balance headquarters. And somewhere in that Plane, a smile flashes across someone's face."
