2023.06.02 22:38 These-Energy-3234 I feel that everything is complicated, and it will not end well.

I have a problem, at my university there is something called "modifications" in these modifications as students we can come and assign ourselves to a class which we were not sure whether to take, since withdrawing courses at an inappropriate time is not allowed. now I was assigned to a professor, the confirmation of this was one day after 8 days of class, I could not have assistance since it is with the portal and it is a requirement.
He usually assigns me late since I also have economic difficulties, I also needed a prerequisite but my previous professor, despite the fact that he had won the class, did not upload the certificate that validated the course. well with a little bit of that context now let's go to my problem with the professor.
The first day I arrived, despite the fact that it is a class that talks a lot about ethics and organizational behavior, I participated. At the end, as always, I have to catch up with my homework and I was going to talk about that with the professor. He was furious, he told me that he could not accept students for modifications, he did not let me speak, he made me understand that I was not welcome in his class and he sent me to a coordinator, in the end I went to my director, I am not lying to you I felt attacked, no one had bothered that I was assigned late.
I spoke with my coordinator, and after that he was very surprised about his attitude, to all this he wanted a note which validated that I can enter the class, every day he has asked me for it, I don't like it, he told me that he was going to argue with the person in charge of him, the days have passed I have an appointment with my director and I feel horrible, honestly I only told things as they happened my intention is not to make a problem, I just want to pass the class, I feel horrible, I tend to to think that they are going to threaten me or simply unassign me.

Hey all,
I’m coming from UCD to Berkeley tonight for a concert but I was hoping to get some work done using the campus Wi-Fi. Is there any library/cafe/study space that’s open to the public until ~6pm? Or if i were to befriend a student how hard would it be to sneak in for a few hrs 💀

2023.06.02 21:50 No-Option-277 What next?

Background: I have a BS in computing and security technology 4 years ago and a couple years deskside/help desk experience but between jobs now. I saw that you can get free vouchers through MS with a student email which I still have through my alumni status at old university. Apparently this is expiring soon (end of June?, anyone know exact date?), I took and passed in this order, ms900, az900, sc900, first two mid 800s, last low 900s, studied a few days for each, maybe 9ish hours each.
Question: Which cert should I prioritize next, I was thinking dp900 then ai900? The portal only allows you to unlock 2 vouchers at a time so guessing if I wanted all 8 I'd have to pass 3 by mid June, then be able to unlock last 2. Are any of them not worth doing? I also saw that you can now get a voucher for az104 so should I just skip the rest of these 900s and go straight to az104, assume study will take a couple months. I'm currently job hunting, got a few offers in the 55-65k range but didn't take them for various reasons (bad culture, on call, commute distance, MSP giving bad vibes, etc). My BS is basically a cyber degree but obviously can't break into that without more experience, thinking sysadmin or similar is a logical next step.
Side note: also got the isc2 certified in cybersecurity cert because it was "free", but gotta pay $50/yr for membership so not really free...

2023.06.02 20:53 OkJournalist2816 Question on Transferring to UC from CC while retaking classes from previous CSU

I dropped out of a CSU over a year ago and I've been going to CC hoping to transfer to a UC next year. I have failed grades from that CSU and I am planning on retaking those classes to improve my GPA through their Open University program (anyone can take CSU classes as a non-matriculated student through Open University). Will this affect my chances of getting admitted into a UC? In other words, will a UC view me as a CSU transfer if I retake my old CSU classes before applying? Thanks.
Some added context: I attended a CSU for a semester before dropping out. I currently have a 3.3 GPA (CSU + CC combined) but I can boost it to a 3.7 if I retake my old courses. These courses are not required for my major and they are not part of IGETC either.

2023.06.02 20:14 magicpotion9 Cycle Recap - Attending HLS!

Sharing my (late!) cycle recap because I learned so much from this subreddit throughout the admissions process (especially as the first person in my family to attend law school in the U.S.), and I appreciated the relatability / support / memes throughout the uncertainty of the last year!
Stats: 3.7high GPA, 17mid LSAT, nURM, nKJD from a T10 undergrad with 2 years of WE, applied between mid-October and mid-November
Accepted - Harvard (attending), UChicago, Penn, NYU, Berkeley, Columbia, Cornell, Northwestern, Duke, Georgetown
Waitlisted - Michigan, UVA
Rejected - Yale, Stanford
I am beyond thrilled at how my cycle turned out! If there are any key takeaways from this process that I would tell my past self, it would be the following:
(1) Don't count yourself out from your dream schools as a "splitter" - I came into the process assuming my stats weren't "high enough" for HLS / UChicago but clearly could not have been more wrong
(2) A cohesive story / powerful personal statement can go really, really far. While my legal interests are somewhat niche, I didn't have anything particularly unusual (i.e., Rhodes, Fulbright) for "softs" but I did have a set of connecting experiences relating to my specific legal interest. These experiences helped me effectively answer "Why law?", "Why me?", and "Why now?" throughout my application materials. I cannot understate how important it was to take the time to reflect on what I had done and how it connects to who I am and my career goals vs. writing what I thought law schools wanted to hear or expecting my scores to buoy my application.
(3) You don't need the most amazing connections with your recommenders in order to receive solid rec letters, especially if they are your past professors. It is part of their job responsibilities to write rec letters, they do it all the time, and they genuinely want to see their students succeed. Reach out earlier in the summer rather than in the fall (like I did, oops) and provide them with materials that will make their letter-writing easier (e.g., sample personal statement, resume - imagine what you would want if you were tasked with writing a letter for someone else). Also, don't be afraid to follow up - all of my recommenders needed several reminders and appreciated when I reached out.
(4) This sub stresses too much sometimes the importance of submitting your applications earlier rather than later, but submitting in October / November is not at all "late" and will not "count you out" if that is what you need. It is better to have materials you feel good about than rushing to submit your applications as soon as the portals open in August / September.
Happy to answer any questions about my cycle / law school application process! Good luck to everyone entering the next cycle.

2023.06.02 19:52 yee_yee_university Finishing junior year, how worried should I be?

I have maintained straight As through the first semester of my junior year in high school, but in the second semester my grades definitely fell. I was doing two high-intensity plays at the same time with fairly major roles in both (three if you count the one we were only working on in my drama class) in addition to a lot of math homework that I just didn't understand. I've been pretty used to coasting and just having one or two classes be hard, but this year really messed me up. I definitely slacked off (in part due to some mental health issues) and got a C in math for my 3rd quarter along with a B in science. For second semeste4th quarter grades I managed to pull it up to a B-, along with a B in science and a B- in history. The rest of my grades are As (and two credits for two TA classes). I considered (and still do consider) myself a fairly competitive applicant, I have a lot of ECs that have to do with community theatre and writing. I live in California and am hoping to attend a UC (was aiming for Berkeley and will still apply, but it seems unlikely) or smaller liberal arts college. I'm planning on majoring in something in the performing arts as well as psychology if I'm able to double-major. I'm going to he seriously re-building my college list this summer, but honestly how worried should I be about my grades slipping? My school also doesn't offer many APs so it's also harder for me to be competitive with other students in my area attending different schools

I am planning on shotgunning as many schools as I can since I received FAP and started prewriting early. 2023.06.02 18:03 Swimming_Tangelo9494 BEWARE OF THIS SUBREDDIT!!!

So I just got accepted at UofA and I’d like to talk about the toxicity of the premed culture and how this affected my mental health. This is for all of you who are worried about your chances and are struggling with your confidence during this gruelling process.
I remember I would spend HOURS on premedcanada as a first year, undergraduate student, worrying about my 3.6 gpa. Second year wasn’t much better (3.4). I would spend all day studying, and wouldn’t get a single A/A+. It didn’t help when I’d see posts of “what are my chances, I have a 3.9 cGPA.” Even more disheartening was the fact that I’d see people posting about how they got rejected with 4.0’s and 515+ MCAT scores. I remember I’d get so scared of even applying. I would tell myself that I’d never get accepted and would spend hours on the phone with my friends and parents, trying to figure out what else I wanted to do with my life. I felt so stupid and inferior. No matter how hard I studied, I could not manage an A. I was so ready to give up; if people with such high stats are getting rejected, who am I to succeed, right?
Thank god I decided to at least give the MCAT a shot before quitting my journey. Fast forward to the summer of my third year. I tried writing the MCAT but was scoring around 507-508 on my practice exams. Again, I’d check this subreddit. There are soooo many posts about applicants who got rejected with much higher MCAT scores. I felt like I wasn’t good enough. It felt as if I NEEDED 515+ to get accepted. I decided my practice scores weren’t good enough and cancelled my test a week before the test date. The confidence I had lost was making it difficult for me to continue this journey. The toxicity of the premed culture had gotten to me. I was frightened of rejection and I delayed writing the MCAT.
Finally, in my fourth year, I graduated with 3.83 (3.6, 3.4, 4.0, 3.9 taking out my lowest year) and FORCED myself to take the MCAT no matter my practice score. I scored 505 (128/124/128/125). I felt so devastated. I didn’t even want to apply. On the day of the UofA application deadline, I applied as a “I’m not getting accepted anyways, let me give it a shot.” I wish I applied to UofC, because my friend got an interview and got accepted with low stats too.
I had so much imposter syndrome I thought I didn’t deserve an interview. I practised for 6 hours a day for a month leading up to my interview. I made it this far with such awful stats compared to other applicants, might as well give it my all.
I thought I had completely botched the interview. I didn’t even think I was gonna get accepted my first try. Surprisingly, I got in. At this point, I was so defeated that I kept refreshing the portal, thinking that they made a mistake. I felt, and still do feel, as if I don’t deserve the acceptance. And I attribute this imposter syndrome I feel to this subreddit.
I woke up today to a post, stating that this person got 130 on CARS, 3.97 gpa, and was rejected pre-interview. I went on their profile and noticed a few weeks ago, they had posted about having a 123 CARS score. I realized so many people lie about their stats here. I tested my theory and checked out a few other profiles that post their stats. And boy was I right. The number of people that lie about their stats astounds me.
Now I don’t know why people would lie, as you are posting anonymously. Perhaps it’s to get positive affirmations from strangers online to help make themselves feel better. Or maybe people who over exaggerate their stats want to increase the anxiety others feel about this process in hopes of decreasing the competition.
For all of you who are scared of your chances, know that it is possible to get in with a low MCAT. There are schools that don’t consider the MCAT competitively. Alternatively, there are schools that drop your lowest year gpa, or take the best 2-3 years. Most of all, the interview is the make-or-break. I personally know people with lower stats than I who got accepted.
I am in no way saying that people who have high stats are guaranteed an interview. Or that anyone who got rejected pre-interview with high stats is lying. I also want to note that luck plays a role, as part of this process depends on who reads your application. For those with high stats who keep getting rejected, from the bottom of my heart, I am so sorry. You deserve a spot and you will get in eventually.
This process is incredibly holistic. It depends on how you write your application, how you present yourself in the interview, ECs, Casper, etc. Do not believe what you see on this subreddit. You do not need to turn your 3.8 to a 4.0. Look at each school’s requirements and see their weighting. You can better your application in other ways. Try your best, and with a bit of luck on your side, you will, too, get in!
EDIT: I realize now that my mental health would’ve been better if I had been more skeptical of this subreddit. If I could go back in time, I’d refrain from believing everything I saw on here. Know that you are more than enough, and comparing yourself to other anonymous redditors does much more harm than good. Keep your head high, you got this, take care of yourself, and just try your best! ❤️
TLDR: I delayed applying to med because of the premed toxicity of this subreddit and noticed many people here lie about their stats.

2023.06.02 17:28 CiberX15 32 [M4F] PA / EST - Looking for a fellow gamer nerd to game with, run obstacle races, and fall in love with 🤓😁

Please read this whole summary before replying! 😆 😅 I’m looking for something real and I’ve put as much information here as I can so you can be at least halfway informed before reaching out. 😆😃
I am 32 years old, living in York PA. I look like this:

Oh and at ren fair…
https://imgur.com/eD3FJiL
I’m looking for a long term relationship that can hopefully lead to a legal union (because the "m" word is banned?), but I don’t want to rush to get there. I’m looking for a long term relationship, a deep connection with one woman.
I like cuddling and want to find someone who enjoys snuggling up together just as much as I do. I’m also doing the whole abstinence thing so I won’t have sex before a legal union. I do want a physical relationship, but I am saving that last level of intimacy and emotional connection for a a legal union level commitment. 🙃🙂
As for what I’m doing with my life, I’ve always had a deep passion for gaming, so when I grew up, rather than growing out of it, I doubled down and made game development my career! I got my bachelors degree in game design, then worked for seven years at a mobile games studio. In that time I paid off my car, all of my student debt, then I took a leap of faith, quit my job, and started my own tiny two man VR game studio, which is what I am doing now! 😎😁
Optimally I’d like to find a partner who shares my passion for PC gaming, especially survival crafting, VR, or RTS games. It’s where I spend a lot of time, both as my career and my primary hobby. So I’m seeking out matches who have similar interests, since it’s a major part of my personality.🤓
I think it’s great for partners to have their own separate interests 😃 but I want to be able to share at least one or two passions with my romantic partner, so if not gaming, we’d probably still be a great match if you have a love for Dungeons & Dragons, Martial arts, Fighting with Foam Swords, Parkour, Obstacle Races (Rugged Maniac), or Talking about Philosophy, Super Heroes, and Plot Holes.
To a lesser degree I also enjoy movies, theater, acting, anime, CGI, roller coasters, reading, crafting and DIY, so I could definitely get into them if they are things you are passionate about.😁
I want to avoid a long distance relationship, but I’m happy to drive up to 2 hours for dates. Further for fellow PC gamers, since we could hang out and get to know each other virtually, so long as we were still within practical driving range so we could see each other in person if things progress that far.
Other details about me:
-My personality type is INFP-A
-I enjoy reading and writing essay length replies, and deep conversation in general, and I look for the same in my matches 😄
-I like the cold 😁
-I am a nerd, and find nerdiness very attractive😉
-I try to avoid using foul language
-Not fond of crude humor
-My love languages are physical touch and quality time, with a little bit of words of affirmation
-I was diagnosed with ADHD as a child and have always considered it a super power rather than a disability 😎
-I can play drums and guitar by ear
-I enjoy sports and games with few if any rules: mud runs, rock climbing, parkour, trampoline parks, Minecraft, Risk, Paintball, etc.
-My media tastes tend to lean towards action, sci-fi, and fantasy: MCU, Star Wars, Disney, Pixar, some anime, etc.
So yeah! If you’re interested, shoot me a message! Please include a picture or two with your response! I won’t respond to replies without one.
I’ve included pictures of myself at the top of this profile, and I want to verify there is mutual attraction before getting too deep into conversation. Physical attraction is by no means the most important part of a relationship to me, I consider shared values and interests far more critical, but I do think it’s an important component of a romantic relationship.
Also if you don’t have a similar post up for me to look at please write a brief summary about yourself and what you’re looking for. I’m unlikely to respond if I can’t determine if you are a real human or not. 😅

2023.06.02 17:26 CiberX15 32 [M4F] PA / EST - Looking for a fellow gamer nerd to game with, run obstacle races, and fall in love with 🤓😁

Please read this whole summary before replying! 😆 😅 I’m looking for something real and I’ve put as much information here as I can so you can be at least halfway informed before reaching out. 😆😃
I am 32 years old, living in York PA. I look like this:

Oh and at ren fair…

I’m looking for a long term relationship that can hopefully lead to marriage, but I don’t want to rush to get there. I’m looking for a long term relationship, a deep connection with one woman.
I like cuddling and want to find someone who enjoys snuggling up together just as much as I do. I’m also doing the whole abstinence thing so I won’t have sex before marriage. I do want a physical relationship, but I am saving that last level of intimacy and emotional connection for a marriage level commitment.

2023.06.02 17:20 EducationalPianist69 Recommended Technology Apps/Software for Teachers

Hi -- Throwing out a topic to get insights on, especially in today's age of talk around AI in the classroom and the ever-evolving conversation of technology or aka Edtech.
If you could make a wishlist of an app or software that would make your job as a teacher what would that look like?
Some examples I have brainstormed: tracking student attendance, communicating with parents using a private and secure portal all in one place, tracking students' homework assignments, tracking student interventions (eg misbehavior), grades, and student and teacher surveys.
Let me know your thoughts, thanks!

It is Really Nice to have an Engineering Exam Help Portal
Yes, I really feel glad to see so many engineering students doing well with the help of our engineering online exam help services that we now are developing streams specific exam help portals for the students. Now we have an electronics engineering online exam help portal specifically for electronics engineering students. In our times, we never had a mechanical engineering exam help portal, or else I would have been a great engineer. Yes, it is really nice to have such exam portals.
